on contrary i'd actually want to see them all start. this should be final test for them to play in the same line up against decent team at home.

The final test for them to see if they can play together? After about 3 games?

The team is too one dimensional. We have had one excellent threat, but once he has dropped out of form or found some negative variance, the results have dropped off too, because nobody else can offer goals in any sort of volume.

The football under ETH at its most effective was essentially “give it to Bruno who can hopefully find Rashford, who can run and put it in the net.” The load needs to be shared across the front three and the attacking midfielders need to contribute a lot more too. We’ve basically had six league goals from our main centre forwards (Martial, Weg and Højlund), ten from Antony, Sancho and Pellistri on the right, and seven from Bruno since the last of season. Casemiro can not be our second biggest threat from open play.

It’s got to evolve and quickly.
I wouldn’t disagree save as to say, imo, the front three are the problem here. We can get the ball into them in all manner of ways but the movement, decision making and execution in the box is poor. We get into a lot of good positions but the front guys don’t turn them into chances / goals.

I don’t know what the answer is but Hojlund is better by far than anyone else in our squad at aggressively running into goalscoring areas. So I’m thinking the other front players need intensive drilling to get the ball in front of Hojlund. I assume this drilling is happening but not clicking into place yet.

Who cares if Galatasaray knows Bayindir's weaknesses? We should be able to dominate them at home that they should not even have the chance to exploit any weaknesses of him. You would think we are playing Barcelona away by reading some of the comments.

I think a front three of Martial, Hojlund and Rashford would be very interesting. Each player bringing his complementary qualities: linkup play, physicality and goal threat, dribbling and directness.

I think this is going to Mount's moment, he was probably not fully up to speed at the weekend and just keeps seeming to be a whisker off scoring for us.

yes. you want to find out after we lost 10 games or what?

I rather have a larger sample size before I'd make up my mind. Somehow 3 games just feels like it's not enough to make a proper judgement on whether or not players can build up a relationship and understanding on the pitch.

Scoring is not as important as actually having an impact on the game. At the moment and to date - the guy has been completely anonymous. You genuinely could not tell he has played for Man Utd at all. In fact, his presence has served to destabilise a fairly limited midfield. Now we are both limited and unstable. So disappointing.

Mix in a few young ones and start the match with a bit of energy.

    That's all I ask folks.

Are you referring to Rashford as our star player.....? You must be joking.

The reason we've been so toothless in front of goal this season is due to our star player not scoring. I mean, no one else has exactly stepped up, have they?

No front 3 with Rashford is interesting. He needs to be dropped. 1 purple patch in 3 years is blinding people

And who's done better in those 3 years? I'll wait.....

That's not to say he shouldn't be dropped, but it's not like we have a list of back ups who we can put in to produce the good week in week out like Rashford did last season. Actually, his goals last season masked a lot of problems in the final third.

Might a larger sample size cost ten Hag his job if it’s as bad as currently suspected?

I’m not sure they are that much better than Palace.

Also we dominated Palace and lost to (pretty much) a wonder strike. We struggled to get through their low block but we did manage it several times and just lacked the finishing touch. We don’t need to change the plan we just need to execute it a little bit better.
Sensible post. It may have been missed; chances are you get away with that kind of behaviour in here this once. But be warned.

My hunch is that people lumping on Mount really want to lump on EtH.

People were lumping on Mount before we had even signed him. He's going to need to do very well to keep such people off his back, who just want to say they were right.

    Goosebumps

Man I miss all those players :(

Time to use this game to kick off our season. Champions League music under floodlights at Old Trafford, time to stick four past someone.

I hope he sticks Dalot on the left instead of Amrabat and play Lindelof at right back.

Same team that played against Palace in the cup last week. That was our best team performance of the season so far.

    Onana

    Dalot - Varane - Maguire - Amrabat

    Casemiro - Mount

    Pellistri - Hannibal - Garnacho

    Martial
Bayindir, Lindelof, Evans, Eriksen, McTominay, Bruno, Antony, Hojlund, Rashford

    Manchester United 1-0 Galatasaray
    Agreed
