I’d give that half a 5/6 out of 10. Solid but uninspiring. We really need to move the ball quicker a lot more, we’re still too pedestrian.
Pathetic post. First game of the season..I'd hoped with a change of backroom staff, coaching staff and a few additions that we'd see something different this season. However it's still very much same old same old. Maybe this is as good as it gets under Ten Hag, I just don't see this team suddenly clicking and becoming a consistent winning machine. It's a bits and pieces side at best, apart from individual moments, this doesn't look like a team is ever going to emerge from this setup.
Seriously what’s happened to Rashford? He’s just not the same player anymore. I don’t sense any threat from him anymore.
Hope he proves me wrong 2nd half
Helps to have the back 4 shrink the pitch.Where was this casemiro last season?
He's looked very good in his midfield play. Should probs have a goal and 2 assists as well.
Mount has done basically what he’s meant to do and lead the press (disgusting that we paid 55m for that but w/e). Agree Rashfords basically done nothing.Think Rashford and Mount have been worse.
I was thinking thatCan we bring RVN on for the 2nd half? Surely he will still be able to bury one of those chances Bruno has fluffed so far in that half.
Not sure where you get 6 from, we created 2Why? We’ve dominated and created 6 clear chances, it’s been working well.
What is xG?First 25-30 wasn't convincing but then we got better. Not perfect of course but it's clear the system has changed. Stats back it up as well. 61% possession and 0.89 xG is satisfactory.
Mount is a great component for our OTB pressing. His work rate is really impressive, no one else has that in the squad. Some good
Maguire is immense. How people don't rate him but regularly watch United is beyond me. He's absolutely immense. And this high line / on the ball nonsense should go away as well. He's absolutely suited to that too.
Mazraoui at times wasn't really sharp but I like him already. Potentially better than Dalot IMO and it's already clear how he fits our style of football much better compared to AWB.
Rashford should be in more advanced positions IMO. Too close to the touchline, this role is not maximizing his strengths.
The press actually worked and felt very different from how we played last season. That's also because Maguire and Martinez and both the full backs have been really good.I'd hoped with a change of backroom staff, coaching staff and a few additions that we'd see something different this season. And Zirkzee for Mount, bring Bruno back to #10 and use an actual striker.Garnacho on for Rashford and we should win this.
Let’s see how the season goes but if it continues poorly for him, I think we will shift him. He's lost pace and agility since his back injuries that 1 season.
Not sure he'll ever regain it back.
What has Maguire done wrong at all in this game? Other than the dive? And Zirkzee for Mount, bring Bruno back to #10 and use an actual striker.
Also, De Ligt for f...ing Maguire...
Why the ... did we buy these people if we are not going to use them?
Fulham are very compact and deep. Their most dangerous moments have come when we've lost it trying to force through the middle and they've broken. Being patient and waiting for the opening is probably the way to go, although it's a stressful watch at timesHas anyone noticed that despite having a lot of the ball, it's mostly just left>right and right>left horizontal play and that the players are terrified of anything remotely resembling a forward, central short pass?
But we all know it’ll be Garna on for AmadGarnacho on for Rashford and we should win this.
Thought he was tidy on the ball and linked up pretty well. What has he done?
It's good to see so much optimism here. I thought we looked no different to last season, which stands to reason since the manager and team is essentially the same except Rashford has snuck back in somehow.
