Pretty good first half. Started off a bit nervous but grew into the game and started to dominate. Can see some of our players are rusty which is okay.

I think those asking to see more of a style and patterns of play should be able to see the seeds there. Some very nice play that hopefully improves as the players get fitter.

The pressing was a bit off in the beginning but then we got into the groove. You can see how getting in a pressing monster like Ugarte who also has quick feet in the midfield instead of Casemiro will help the team. Same with De Ligt who is more aggresive and ambitious with the ball than Maguire.

I'm interested in seeing Zirkzee as he is also supposed to be a good presser.

So far a much better performance than we did against Fulham last year. Also the counter press has stopped a lot of their counter attacks although a few got through early doors. But thats to be expected if we don't get the press correct. A good half.

Can't say I see a big difference from last season. still no discernible strategy, still no running off the ball, still missing chances that change games. need to get rashford and mount off and garno and zirkzee on. still no real passion evident and still far too slow and predictable in the build up

Wonder how often I'll say this season that we need a no.9. It's astonishing that Manchester United hasn't got a young striker they can give a go

Decent first half. Struggling to break them down as expected with no striker, but good control and effective pressing. Pleasing stuff.

I'd hoped with a change of backroom staff, coaching staff and a few additions that we'd see something different this season. However it's still very much same old same old. Maybe this is as good as it gets under Ten Hag, I just don't see this team suddenly clicking and becoming a consistent winning machine. It's a bits and pieces side at best, apart from individual moments, this doesn't look like a team is ever going to emerge from this setup.

Love Mazraoui so far. Fits very well into the squad.

Yeah. ten Hag literally playing him the same way he played him at Ajax, with him inverting into midfield and Amad staying out wide. Want to see a few underlapping runs in behind a compact Fulham side, but as you said. he's made a good start.

De Ligt on for Maguire after the booking and Zirkzee on for Mount, same reason and also t change the formation up a bit.
I'd make the subs early in the 2nd half, then look at subbing one of Rashford/Amad for Garnacho later on.

Not sure why we should change the setup when we've dominated the past 20mins or so.

We have missed Martinez mind. Just watching him dealing Adams and makes me think that last year someone like Lindelof probably falls over

We look decent. Bruno needs to do better with his chances, but can't really blame him much because he isn't a striker.

Maguire has been solid, but some of his passes put pressure on the other player.

Except for the one Fulham chance which Onana saved, we have contained them very well. Keep up the good work guys!

It's good to see so much optimism here. I thought we looked no different to last season, which stands to reason since the manager and team is essentially the same except Rashford has snuck back in somehow.

I'll happily take this over last years Wolves opener, where all the players looked off it and the keeper went a bit mental.

Early days, but we need to be more dangerous than this. Awful that our main striker is injured, but Zirkzee needs to be involved. Hope to see Garnacho early as well.

For all our investments in defense, I kind of wonder what impact someone like Toney would have had in this team.

Hope we see Zirkzee for Mount, Garnacho for Rashford and De ligt for Maguire before long.

Where was this casemiro last season?

He's looked very good in his midfield play. Should probs have a goal and 2 assists as well.
He was asked to play as a midfield one behind a front five pressing up and a back four that was always dropping off, leaving him with acres to cover on his own.

With this shape (and with Lindelof and Evans not on the pitch), the defence is higher up, Mainoo is playing more as an orthodox pivot rather than being pushed up almost as another 10, and Bruno and Mount are dropping back to help out. The opposition doesn't have the whole park to run into every time they get the ball like they did last year.

Rashford need to be subbed. What happened to his all exercise and preparing for new season?

    1. Mazza very impressive.
    2. Onana - good save.
    3. Casemiro much better than the last season
    4. Bruno can’t believe the team create a 100% chance after chance WITHOUT him. Looks lost before the goal.
    5. Good performances so far

Frustrating to be level. Fulham are well organized and looking to counter like most sides that come to OT. Our passing and shooting is just not precise enough to break them down. Still, Bruno should be burying one of those chances. Casemiro should be putting one of those shots on target.

Mazraoui has been impressive. I'd rather have our attacks be focused on that side instead of the left as Dalot always has to cut in, but Licha being a better passer than Maguire means the build up naturally concentrates there.

The changes are obvious. Don't know how fit Zirkzee is, but we need a striker in there. At the very least Garnacho for Mount to move Rashford up top with Bruno in his best position.

Not that bad. Encouraging performance by Mount and Amad. Casemiro and Dalot were very good. More from Mainoo, Rashy and Bruno please!

Much better play than last season. Midfield is not being run over, we have good control over the game and created some great chances. Missing a striker, not sure why we don't start with Rashford upfront and Garnacho from the left. Missing a trick there

Can we bring RVN on for the 2nd half? Surely he will still be able to bury one of those chances Bruno has fluffed so far in that half.

Decent half but needed a goal to say it was any kind of good one. Finishing was terrible. Casemiro needs to keep his shots down and at least get them on target else dont even try. Fernandes keeps putting it straight at the keeper and is having one of those annoying games where he insists on using the outside of his foot when the left foot is the right option.

Mazaraoui had a good half clearing the ball from a Fulham cross and finding some good passes in general moves on the right.

Mount needs to be more involved in attack. Not good enough

Mainoo some very nice moments but some have ended after he tried to beat an extra player or a bad decision at the end. Still some nice skills and passes overall.

Left wing has been annoying as a continuing problem where none of our players want to put the ball into the box with their left foot and so our left wing becomes a deadzone.
I think we are going to have to have some patience going into this season as we bed new players and a new system in. But I find it very encouraging the patterns of play we’ve seen so far. Playing almost double false nines in Mount and Fernandes is making it very difficult for Fulham to pick up our forwards and as a result we are finding a lot of passes through the lines.

I think everyone has played well. Diallo been a little quiet, and in a tight game a little magic from him could really open it up. I think Mount’s best contribution that half was off the ball. He worked hard to close down spaces and was constantly moving to provide a passing option. We look much more fluid with him in the side.

I am a little alarmed at how often Casemiro has found himself forward. I understand what we are trying to do with the overload but it leaves us susceptible on the counter attack.

We need to keep the tempo high in the second half and I think we’ll get the breakthrough. The danger will be if we let it slow down. The pressing has been much more intelligent than I have seen from us in a while.

If Maguire plays like this this season, we really have a great selection of centre backs.

Need to come out and dominate with a high tempo from the start of the 2nd half and not the revert to the usual lack luster start to haves we have come to be accustomed to.

Seriously what’s happened to Rashford? He’s just not the same player anymore. I don’t sense any threat from him anymore.
Hope he proves me wrong 2nd half

Henry winter must feel that Rashford's claim of spending the summer training hard were greatly exaggerated

That second chance is diabolical by Bruno. Either lift it, or take an extra touch, and it's a goal.

    Rashford's been Rashford. Unfortunately.

Mount for Garnacho, Rashford up top, Bruno back to 10 and we'll look more coherent going forward I think.

Playing ok after a poor start. Still feels like we should be doing much better against a Fulham side who don't look great. Wouldn't mind us trying to play more on our right side.

First 25-30 wasn't convincing but then we got better. Not perfect of course but it's clear the system has changed. Stats back it up as well. 61% possession and 0.89 xG is satisfactory.

Mount is a great component for our OTB pressing. His work rate is really impressive, no one else has that in the squad. Some good

Maguire is immense. How people don't rate him but regularly watch United is beyond me. He's absolutely immense. And this high line / on the ball nonsense should go away as well. He's absolutely suited to that too.

Mazraoui at times wasn't really sharp but I like him already. Potentially better than Dalot IMO and it's already clear how he fits our style of football much better compared to AWB.

Rashford should be in more advanced positions IMO. Too close to the touchline, this role is not maximizing his strengths.

We all want to see Zirkzee but given he has played 8 mins in the last 3 months I wouldn't be surprised if he only has 20 mins in him.

Or two assists if Bruno was a bit more accurate. Our best player in the first half. Agree though he's been wasteful
    Ha. Yes.

Still better than last season let's just hope we can put one away. But, enjoying this performance so far.
