    Because De Ligt started preseason only 2 weeks ago. He does not even have any test matches. His first team training was about 10 days ago. I would like to see that match - but Bayern's first match starts in 35 minutes.

    I’m assuming it’s only happening as Garnacho had the copa this summer and had a long season last year. He’ll come off the bench tonight and be back in the starting line up soon.
     
    Pleased with the squad, given the circumstances. It should be enough to take care of business tonight.
     
    If Traore gets one on one with Maguire we're screwed. It happened for their winner last year. Hopefully we're more protected now with this midfield.
     
    Why is there already so much complaining already in this thread and the game hasn't even started.

    It's so embarrassing reading some of the comments here and the moaning. Can we just make this a constructive discussion on the game, tactics, players etc

    I think it's the right decision to start with Garnacho as the first player off the bench basically.

    He played a lot of football last season (too much IMO), in part, out of necessity, and went to the Copa America as well. If you look at his competition, Amad is 22 and hasn't played nearly enough first team football at this point, and Rashford at 26 should have no problem playing 50+ games per season at this stage of his career + we badly need him to return to his former self. If Garnacho is doing well and someone else is underperforming, he'll play himself back into the lineup in no time anyways.

    Onana is first by position, then it changes to by numbers for the outfield players. I will never fathom how that idea came alive.
