Not many home grown players in the squad, will we see that long record end at all this season?
There's still 4 in the squad and we know Amorim likes bringing players through so you'd imagine there will be more and more as time goes on.

Mainoo and Rashford are always going to be in the squad unless they are injured

Good feeling about tonight and excited to watch the game.

Line up makes sense and hope Malacia and Mount come out unscathed.

Antony, Mount, Malacia... Let's hope it goes well. :o Should add a bit more energy to the team. Glad to see Rashford dropped, but disappointing for Diallo. Let's hope it's a rest for Everton as far as the latter is concerned.

Good rotated line up. Happy to see Bruno in midfield, so we can see if he can adapt. Maybe he will be more disciplined playing deeper holding the midfield with Ugarte.

Garnacho has no obvious position in Amorim's tactic, if he can't adapt, he will be benched fairly soon I reckon.

Have to say I’m not hating that. A left footer at left back is long overdue.

Does anyone know whether it will be Mount or Bruno playing at CM?

Personally, I don't think the role suits either player but I would prefer Bruno to be playing there.

It's a shame there is no Amad, as I would have liked to see him start over Garnacho.

    Probably Bruno

    Amad probably rested.

Just got inducted into medical practice today and also got my license today, after close to a decade of working hard to be a doctor. So happy right now. My Dad broke down in tears of joy after the ceremony.

Hopefully the day is made perfect with a United win.
As a Dad who experienced the same emotions almost 30 years ago (Daughter in Optometry), I’m delighted for you.
    Welling up as I write.
    Congratulations Dr.

Happy with that lineup and intrigued to see how it goes.

Be great if Antony & Mount put in an excellent performance to give us some form of hope.

In my entire life of watching football, I can say that I never liked this formation Amorim has used at Sporting and is using now at Man Utd. It's just a personal dislike, I just hope it gets the best out of this current squad of players.

Very happy for Antony. I hope he can get some confidence and start producing.

    Should be interesting with Malacia.

Really hoping that, as a game with a lineup having lot of experimenting going on here, that we have a fun game here. It's not a big team, at Ruben's first home game, so this should be one without pressure put on the returners to the team.

Happy enough with that line up. The right amount of (long term) returnees starting - just Mount and Malacia. And hopefully Shaw and Mainoo getting minutes off the bench.

A good few had most starting, plus Yoro. The latter, especially, was never likely to start having not even made the matchday squad v Ipswich. I was hoping he'd be ready for the matchday squad today, but obviously it's too soon even for that.
Amorim's said he's not ready yet along with Maguire. Even though both are training.

Think it suits Antony very well, this position. I also think we rotate an awful lot so that we don't see our best line up for some games. Nothing wrong with it as it gives players enough rest + time on the training pitch to adapt to the style of play.

As per Carragher's analysis, stop worrying about Bruno looking vulnerable in midfield. The point is for Bruno to press up higher and for one of the three CB's to press into midfield.

If they press right from front to back it won't matter that it's Bruno in there
This. Martinez and Mazraoui will bring the ball forward and Ugarte will be dropping deeper to form a 2 with de ligt bases on the last game. So Bruno will have plenty of defensive protection if we lose the ball. Plus his work rate alongside Ugarte will be vital for us regaining possession

A bit concerned about these training comments

He just said one training session since Sunday. I presume this a translation issue?

There are quite a lot of reasons to worry about Bruno in midfield to be fair I just doubt it will be an issue against bodo. He works hard but not sure he is that good at pressing, he isn't good at tracking runners and struggles to keep the ball in tight spaces

Bruno had played the role a lot more. Mount was usually played wide left weren't he when he wasn't playing CAM?

Interesting comments saying about Anthony playing the same position he plays internationally but with bit with a bit of a difference defensively, hints that he will be pushed up the field. Nice to see Malacia back as well!
