Missed the first half... can anyone fill me in with a brief summary?

I’d like to watch a half of football with a Ugarte, Mainoo, Eriksen midfield.

Bruno will come back in and should, but he can and should be given the odd break too.

I’m so happy that Rashford is playing with that same bit of fire and confidence as against Southampton and Barnsley - really hope he gets the goal he deserves tonight.

Rashford needs to cap off his performance with a goal. He's been very positive tonight. Zirkzee needs to do more. Other than his silky touches he's done very little. Same with Amad. The attack needs to have more impact on the game.

We have controlled well so far. Apart from the Dalot brain fart early in the game, they barely threatened.

That's all true but then you realise we're not taking control of the ball and the front three are getting scraps on the ball. They touch the ball once and then don't receive it again until a good few minutes later. Same old typical tumescent shite.

OK half . Nice goal it's a bit all over place in parts . Ugarte needs to get more game time he shown bits of his break up play. Zirkzee back to goal football is brilliant he's linking up nice some slick passing from him he needs to smash one in.
Nothing stupid and get another goal .

Ugarte doesnt even have the new signing sheen on him. Just looks average

It's almost like it will take time and games for him to bed in.

If only the manager had let us know that. Maybe by repeatedly saying so and easing him in against Carabao Cup and EL opposition.

The buck on TNT sports has said a few times now that it was Eriksen first goal of the season. Time someone told him he scored a few goals last week v Barnsley..

At the same time, a competition is an endurance battle and peaking at the right time. Or - if you're Real - peaking in the last 20 minutes of every match.
I'm looking for consistency. We're so up and down that I'm concerned we'll put in another stinker against spurs at the weekend.

Dull game so far. Brilliant strike by Eriksen which is the only bright thing from that half. They’ve looked dangerous when they have gone forward.

Need a strong 2nd half start otherwise the longer stays 1-0, they will feel they can grab a jammy goal from somewhere.

I’d get Garnacho & Hojlund on for Rashford & Bruno.

It's been a very Europa group stage kind of a game.

United remind me of when a lower league side tries to play the modern way, but the players just don't have the passing technique and/or quality to do it with any real consistency.

I see basic routine passes and somehow they're always either too hard, too soft, played into feet when should be in front, or played in front when should be to feet. Either the weight, direction or passing choice is wrong. Sometimes all of them, but always at least one.

What makes it worse is that I enjoy Dalot inverting, but it pushes someone like Bruno out wide left next to Rashford, and Bruno is useless when paired on the left with Rashford. He can't overlap Rashford because Bruno is a snail, so it just encourages Rashford to try more solo heroics, which is what we want to avoid. Thankfully Rashford is having a good game, but the tactical situation of Bruno finding himself paired with Rashford is not great.

Can't stomach much more of this football. We look more solid defensively this season I guess but the football is still hard to watch for me.

The EL is shocking but it’s better than getting pasted in the CL when the club isn’t ready. A great chance to hopefully get our players used to doing what the manager wants against easier opposition. Gel the attack and get some confidence and minutes into the players who need it
We better be playing in League one. Smashing team 7-0 every week would be nice. And we are not ready for the PL anyway.

I know he hasn't even scored any goals. Shocking.

Couldn't care less if he scores goals. A bit disappointed that we have signed a destroyer who (being kind) looks very average on the ball when we desperately needed more passing ability and nous in our midfield.

Still we can run Eriksen into the ground.

Already we are using him wrong. He should be pressing like Kante. Haven't seen any of it.
I mean, we were warned he’d had no preseason at all but people obviously wanted to say ETH was making excuses rather than accept doing bits in the home gym isn’t quite what you need to get ready for the season.

We have to give him time.

He does seem extremely limited which is my concern

How is it shocking? They’ve been much better than Palace were in the 1st half on Saturday.

Ugarte has been fine, he got caught in midfield the once but he's had a couple of nice line breaking passes and a couple good switches.

People are seeing what they want too, don't be fooled by the "I would love to be proved wrong" brigade.

Do you not think we needed a holding CDM? We got torn apart by everyone last year.

Decent half, deserved lead. Great strike by Eriksen. Twente have done nothing of note apart from that Dalot feck up. Our play still has some notable issues. I don't like how we evade the press at times and still go backwards instead of pressing the advantage.

While Rashford has done well 1 on 1, the long passes between him and Bruno haven't been good enough. Amad hasn't done much as our attack has been so focused on the left. Zirkzee is an interesting dilemma. His link up is great, but his goal scoring instinct isn't. It wouldn't be an issue if our other forwards were firing, but they aren't, so it is. Ugarte has done his part well as has the defense.

Anyway, the game is set up well for us. Need to get a counter working and we've got this in the bag.

That second one was a bit of an unsympathetic pass in to him! Surrounded and the ball was so flat in-between his legs
