It doesn't sound good in here...:(

Why didn't Jose just stick with the Martial/Lingard/Pogba/Shaw/Mata combo? Those guys all together should mean two goals already? Then when we're comfortable put Rash on. Right now his confidence is low and it means he'll try even harder and that's when you lose your composure. It's a game we must win, so now's not the time to put players on who are low on confidence imho.

He's not a great #9. Much better on the wing. That's where he's played the majority of his career

His finishing, first touch, pace, directness - it is all there, the only thing he sorely misses as a striker is movement, and that is alpha and omega for a striker.

Luckily movement is a skill that can be thought though, technique and touch is something you've just got to have. Surely he'll never have movement like someone that moves naturally like Cavani, but he can still improve.

Rashford, even at this young age, is technically superior in every way imaginable. Before his bad run of form, he would seemingly add a new dimension to has game on a weekly basis.

A young lad short on confidence will certainly miss chances, no surprise there. Consistency is an issue for every young player to ever play the game.

Welbeck was and still is average. Rashford has bags of potential.

    Diabolical comparison.
You know, this is another similarity: people who questioned Welbeck's talent were dismissed the same way, talking about bags of potential.

Looking at Rashford. He's not the finished article but there is amazing talent in there.

No, if this is Football Manager, Rashford is most likely a 140 CA / 150 PA type player. A guy who peaks early. His potential is heavily capped by his inability to do anything but over hit the ball past people and then try to run past them. He lacks the close control that defines players with very high potential ability. The longer he goes without addressing his first touch and close control, the less likely he ever will. He has pace.

He started the game off very poorly, some very frustrating passes and touches but he grew into the game and ended the half very well. I don't think he's been brilliant but at the same time, he's not been our worst player either. Played like a 7/10

Yeah would agree with that. Quite clear none of our players have been brilliant. Blind look shaky in defense. Lindelöf solid, but not much of an attacking threat. Shaw a threat, but poor with the ball a lot. Smalling decent, but not in top form. Herrera and Pogba both hot and cold. Rashford very wasteful. Lingard a bit out of the game although moves well. Mata good movement, but has lacked the final things. Mkhitaryan have created a few chances and probably been our best player or one of them this half.

Jesus Christ, the advertisements on Fox Sports are incredible. "Survival foods" ffs

He's been 50/50 all game. That's way too low a percentage.
For a guy in top form? yes. But for a player coming back into the team after 2 months in the doghouse, clearly short on confidence, I think he did well.

People here need to temper their expectations with the reality of the situation. Mkhi's has been poor since his return to the team, but seems to be getting relatively better with each game.
I think he just needs a run of games in the team before we can start judging him against the Mkhi we saw at the start of the season.

I do actually but please don't compare Rashford with Ronaldo as it's the insult to the latter.
Oh shut up. He was frequently shite and regularly exasperating as a young lad. Hindsight is a great thing. Rashford is still a kid. How quickly we forget.

Despite the poor cross from Miki and the ball he gave away, he's been quite good in my opinion. We haven't played bad at all. We had our chances and their goalkeeper has been inmense.

I think if we bring in Lukaku in the 2nd half and Martial we should win this easily. Frustrated that Rashford is struggling..

Jose you are taking off the wrong man, Mkhi was better than rashford. I think mkhi, is done now, these cup games are his chances, he dint take it,

I agree with your assessment that Rashford is a much bigger talent, but it’s hardly surprising that some people are worried about perceived regression from a lad who seemingly couldn’t miss a chance in his breakthrough season.

The brain makes a lot of easy connections, albeit correct or false. Conversely he struggled at the start/middle part of last season, but came very good in the important part of the season where we picked up a couple of nice trophies.

He's woeful at holding up the ball also.

Please don't put Lukaku straight for the second half. It would be so disheartening for Rashford, who gets one chance to play CF in like 3 months.
Which apparently proves he'll never be good enough to lead our line.

Good decision Jose. I'd have been disappointed to see Rashford hauled off.

Ok, so Mikitaryan is off at half time for Lukaku.
Things not looking great for the guy.. feeling for him, not sure what's gonna happen in the following days with the lad...

    Now let's win this!

Will be interesting to see if we continue to play this good pass and move and intricate football with Lukaku on now.

    Mourinho disagrees with you.

I don't agree. He can be what ever he wants to be.

Yeah he isn't a target man type of striker, rather a more modern and dynamic type of striker.

Not an argument to play Lukaku ahead of him though, since Lukaku for his size is woeful at holding up the ball as well.
