Derby County Football Club (nicknamed The Rams - a tribute to its links with the First Regiment of Derby Militia), is an English professional football club based in Derby, Derbyshire, and playing in the Championship. Derby County Football Club was formed in 1884, as an offshoot of Derbyshire County Cricket Club. With the increasing popularity of football in the areas becoming apparent, William Morley, a bank clerk at the Midland Railway, and several other enthusiasts, saw the establishment of an associated football team as an opportunity to both generate extra revenue and give supporters a winter interest. They approached the Derbyshire FA, formed the previous year, proposing the name "Derbyshire County", to emphasize the connection to the cricket club. This was rejected as being too long, and the name "Derby County" was instead settled upon, with home games to be played at the County Ground.

Derby County enjoyed its greatest period of success following the appointment of Brian Clough as Clough and Taylor spent their first season at the club rebuilding but went on to win the Second Division title in 1968-69, going 22 matches unbeaten. After fourth and ninth-placed finishes in the First Division, Derby won the title in 1971-72. Derby finished seventh the following season but did reach the semi-finals of the European Cup, losing to Juventus. The campaign was, however, plagued by incidences of Clough falling out with the Rams' board - particularly the chairman, Sam Longson. Clough and Taylor eventually resigned in October 1973, with fans reacting by demanding the board step down instead so that the pair could be reinstated. Derby would eventually appoint Dave Mackay, one of Clough's key players, and won the league again before a demise that ended with relegation to the Third Division in the 1984.

Notable for being one of the 12 founder members of the Football League in 1888, Derby is one of only ten clubs to have competed in every season of the English football league system and, in 2009, was ranked 137th in the top 200 European football teams of the 20th century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics. Derby County's primary rival clubs are Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Leeds United, with Forest, based in Nottingham, 14 miles east of Derby, being by far the fiercest rivals; a 2008 survey named the rivalry the 11th-largest in English football, revealing that nine out of ten fans from both clubs point to the other as their fiercest rival. Meetings between the side are known as East Midlands derbies and the winning team is awarded the Brian Clough Trophy. Derby play their home matches at Pride Park Stadium, where the club moved in 1997.

Four days rest, I'm expecting a very strong team, no risks whatsoever. Main chance of a trophy.

We haven't lost a third-round home tie against a lower-league team wearing white since 2010.

    Team should be...

    ---------------Romero---------------
    ----Lindelof--Smalling--Rojo----
    Darmian--McTominay--Herrera--Blind
    -Mkhitaryan--Rashford--Martial

Subs: Pereira, Tuanzebe, Jones, Shaw, Pogba, Mata, Lingard

    Darmian--McTominay--Herrera--Blind
    -Mkhitaryan--Rashford--Martial

Subs: Pereira, Tuanzebe, Jones, Shaw, Pogba, Mata, Lingard
Micky should stay far away from any starting line-up for a while.

Next league game in the 15th at home. Need to play a strong side

    De Gea
    Axel - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    McTominay - Herrera - Pogba
    Mata - Martial - Messi

After that last display, why go 3 at the back? Derby plays that way? Even so…

Still think we have a chance of winning the Champions League. We should be able to get past Sevilla, and that means we are in the quarter finals. From then on in, anything can happen, especially when we have Jose as the manager.

Also, it seems like its written in the stars. Possibly Ibra's last season in Europe, wins his first Champions League, and Mourinho continues his successful 2nd seasons (with a twist).

Solid at the back to avoid any upsets and let the attacking players do the damage, it's a risk especially after the Bristol game but I'd favour resting players

    Romero
    Tuanzebe Smalling Rojo
    Darmian Herrera McTominay Blind
    Ozil
    Dybala Rashford

    :D:wenger:

You know our next game is 10 days away? Are we resting them for what, sightseeing?

A chance, yeah, I can see that too, but bigger that the FA Cup? No way.

Derby will be as a big a test as Bristol City. We shouldn't take them lightly.

    De Gea
    Lindelof Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Tuanzebe Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Martial Rashford

Couldn't a more attacking 4-3-3 work, in some easier games, with Lingard in the midfield right instead of Herrera? That would open up space for Rashford upfront.

The same 15 odd players have just played 4 games in a week that's why they need the rest
And Mourinho risked them in a 2 days rest lost league game, but wouldn't use them in a 4 days rest elimination cup game?

Wilson should really get a game here. He's from that neck of the woods isn't he? If he doesn't get a start here he's done for at this club.
He's not even training once in a while with the team, what are you talking about?

Seriously doubt Romero will start after the Bristol team colapse.

    De Gea
    Lindelöf Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Mctominay
    Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Martial

Think Smalling will come in, maybe Blind and/or Darmian too. No need to go crazy resting players with a good gap between the games though. Need another win to keep some confidence up.

I wouldn't change anything, specially since it allowed the slick short passing kind of game. But I could maybe accept Smalling get a chance back. Or, if 4-3-3 at home against Bristol is too cautious for the manager, throw Rashford on for Herrera. But, again, I would leave it as is.

He's not even training once in a while with the team, what are you talking about?
Yeah I deleted my post. I just wanted him to make it here. The lad's got talent. He's been doing well in the reserves. Seems to be recovered alright. If he's going to step back up out of the reserves it will be in a game like this, but it's not going to happen at this time under this manager, even with a striker shortage. Shame really. I feel like a really decent talent is going to waste.

Our best chance to win a trophy, so we should take this seriously. Rest Matic, start Romero, other than that close to full strength starting 11. Really shouldn't underestimate Derby, 2nd in the Championship.

    Bit of rotation if possible....

    -----------Romero--------------
    Darmian...Lindelof--Rojo----Blind
    --------Herrera-----McTominay---
    ------------Mata-------------------
    Mkhitaryan-----Lingard-----Rashford

SUBS - Martial (Mkhi), Shaw (Rashford), Tuanzebe (Mata)

    Man United 2 - 1 Derby County
    Rashford, Lingard.

    Romero
    Tuanzebe - Lindelof - Smalling - Shaw
    Scott - Herrera
    Mikhi - Lingard - Rashford
    Martial
Please, Jose, no Darmian please !

The game isn't going to be televised right ? How are we going to watch it then ? :D

    Rest Matić.
    Just rest Matić.
Hope we'll win, defeat would cause some serious turmoil in and around the club.

I'd rest the defense and Matic but I'd keep the attack in place, we have ten days until we play again.

The best part is after this game we get a proper 10 day rest. Everything in the league is still under control for finishing 2nd. Let us give proper rest to our team and then thrash stoke and start a new beginning. Meanwhile we can field a strong team here but rest Matic. I won't. mind if Jose just send's him to a holiday for 3 or 4 day's. Take proper rest and come back when we play stoke.

I was thinking something similar, not for the Derby game but something like this going forwards (without any Jan signings) - 442 diamond
    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Shaw
    Matic
    Lingard Pogba
    Martial
    Rashford Lukaku

Derby finally showing consistency. Shouldn't be difficult to win but won't be rollovers.
