Its a good game to watch. Can't understand your take on it. Bizarre.

It's a Chelsea side that's playing absolutely terrible and while we're "making stuff happen" we haven't scored. How many times have we seen this pattern? We need to score and I don't know how we will.

The reason we started off well is that we got quick ball from the defence to midfield. Swiny was excellent the first 20 minutes with his movement and the defence trusted itself to pass to him. Mata...young etc then gave him a quick pass. For me in attach sniderlin needs to work harder when we have the ball.
If we don't move it to midfield quickly we end up passing it around the box.
Also last 15 BS playing slightly higher leaving MS the out ball for the defence...hence not as fast. BS can't keep it up so MS needs to do more when we have possession.
    Now back to my Baileys

Great first half from Young, Martial, De Gea,Rooney.. Blind sloppy and Schweinsteiger looks lost

We should of really scored in the 1st half. Chelsea won't be that crup in the 2nd half. I would like to see Rooney play in the chelsea box more he's dropping too deep so when we get the ball back there is noone up front to pass too or play inside. Still he is looking much sharper today.

Haven't seen United play better in months. Really good, composed 1st half.

Still haven't managed to put it in. We've played well in a lot of the other games that were 0-0 at half time. Let's hope it's not like the second half performance vs. PSV

    seen this on twitter

"Looked for a hotel room for New Year but Atkinson has booked everything"

If you are gonna say that about Hazard you should also say that about Young or Herrera e.t.c.

Maybe I should say it about any player in the history of our club or indeed any club in the entirety of football from its complete origins to its modern day incarnation who has ever had even so much as a brief whisper of a reputation as someone who could be considered any variation of what could constitute a diver as well. It's only fair after all.

Everyone has played decent, but not sure where the goal will come from.

Chelsea will continue sitting back. Won't be easy to break down.

Schneiderlin has to be more of an outlet for our CB's. Can't always be Schweinsteiger getting himself open.

    Awful set pieces from us.

Indeed. We've worked hard to get the set pieces in good areas then wasted them all. Frustrating.

Best half from Rooney in a while? He hasn't been amazing but I think Chelsea are struggling to deal with him dropping off. Maybe try Memphis for Mata and encourage him to try to get beyond Rooney?

Anyway, much better. Still hoping this is just a last hurrah for van Gaal, mind.

Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard sound like two tired pensioners who are trying to describe the proper process for trimming your garden hedge.

Good half of football, more-so from us of course.

Herrera is pretty lucky to have escaped a booking, but could say the same for a couple of Chelsea players. Hazard is going down like a sack of shite at every opportunity, hope someone cracks him proper to shut him up.

Just keep getting it to Martial, though I'd like to see Memphis come on later for Herrera and move Mata in the middle (mostly because if Herrera doesn't cool down I can see him getting in some trouble).

Also hit the bar and the post though so that stat is pretty meaningless.

Not really. So three chances despite Chelsea being shocking. There's been great intensity, but we've hardly made the most of it.

...stats boys even those 2 shots not on target...ah screw it,we had one shot on target its not good enough...

Has Courtois been worked? No. Just because the intensity is better than usual it doesn't mean it's good enough.

I get that you think the being bored is too much but i wouldn't go as far as to say "an intense game between two top sides".

I disagree. The intensity of our tackling, attacking and general play has been great. Chelsea have been poor but they are dangerous on the break. I think its a fascinating game. From some of the posts on here I get the distinct impression many of you only watch highlight reels.

Has Blind had the good dead-ball taking coached out of him already? They were good, and now they're low and pointless.

Good half though. Two very good finishes denied by the bar and the post. I have the horrible feeling Chelsea are going to win this with a nodded-on Willian set piece. We need to keep up the level of intensity in the 2nd half. We're winning the ball back well and playing with a great level of risk and directness. Lots of pace on passes, and we're barely giving them a sniff. It's alot like the performance away at Everton. It's the same starting 11 too, isn't it?

Schweinsteiger needs to hurry up and adjust to the pace of the game, and the league. He calls for the ball in tight spots, and then looks to play it in slow motion. He doesn't seem to expect opposing players to press him, and he usually ends up losing the ball.

Was this the best half of football from us like in....ever? (after SAF left)

Schweinsteiger's been poor. Always plays like he has an abundance of time and can take a few touches, but he doesn't have the speed of thought or agility to play his way out of trouble.

He has not been poor. Do you understand the meaning of holding the midfield?

We need to start the second half like we started the first rather than how it ended, otherwise we'll end up a man down and losing.

    We need to score.

Playing well enough here under a lot of pre match pressure but nothing to show for it. We have to repeat the energy in the second half and get our reward this time. I'd like to see us taking risks up front and shooting whenever there's a clear sight of goal. Maybe a bit of luck can fall our way?

Our finishing is letting us down as it has done for last 6 weeks

Gerrard seems so gutted about everything

Van Gaal seems so relaxed today

Rooney even dug down into his old gym bag and found his old shooting boots, ffs! Have a feeling he'll be the one to score the goal that'll win it for us.

Definitely playing a lot better. Still need to score though, otherwise it's all a bit pointless. You feel Martial will definitely be involved in any goal.
