Nah, don't see it, we have done well in EL becasue no one really cared about it early on, and we have played in the main rubbish teams, the LC again were pressure-less games in a comp no one is that bothered about.

We have been given chance after chance to break the top 4, and failed every time, something is fundamentally wrong with us when the pressure is exerted imo, or maybe we're just not that good, if we fall to Chelsea and make the top 4 unachievable then I'd fear for us on Thursday personally.

Every team in Europe League can be considered rubbish . What are the strong teams in the competition anyway ? Even Lyon is lying 4th in the french league and lost 12 matches . The competition doesn't have Bayern and Barca. All teams we faced and are going to face are of the same level so if we passed the previous teams we can pass the next ones.

Also I don't know what's the relation of us doing well in it and that no one cared about it . Who didn't care about it ? I reckon all small teams in the competition care to do anything in a European competition after all. Or you mean the we are the ones who didn't care about it ? I think it's completely the opposite and the team cared about it since the second match already .

I agree with the team being mentally weak overall but in a competition where you play both away and home legs there's not much pressure . We can scrap got results from away matches and we never loses on home. These two are enough to win any cup competition imo . Playing in cups is always different from playing in the league , with different strategies and the way you approach the matches.

No we played 343, Smalling, Jones, Rojo all started..so did Darmian and Valencia who were on the wings and Miki, Young, Rash up front.

Jones played more in midfield not at CB. He played as a DM from what I remember

Not the point I'm making, more so that we'll struggle more once the pressure is exerted, just look at last Thursday, we should have won that by two or three, yet we walk away with a draw as the game had true meaning. Home game, with an away goal, against an average side, Thursday should be a cakewalk, but I have no confidence it will be, do you? And if we do get to the Semi's, Lyon, Ajax, or Vigo, should be there for the taking, but so were Hull, Bournemouth, WBA, Stoke, etc when it mattered, that's all I'm saying.

We didn't care, it was always meant to be a side show to us getting back into the top 4, now the top 4 is the side show, and a heck of alot will ride on the EL if Chelsea beat us tomorrow, it's too easy to say it doesn't matter and we can now concentrate on the EL (not saying you said that), it does, and the league could still be our best bet at getting CL football imo.

He didnt play DM at all, especially not after the red card. Fellaini and Pogba played in CM. We were playing 3 defenders in the matches prior to that one as well.

Before the sending off, he was pressing all the way up well into the opposition half. He wasn't playing CB. Maybe it was a fluid thing like someone said.

EDIT: At the start I thought it also was a back 3, but during the game is just didn't look or play like one (before the sending off)

I've never been as down for an important league game as this, whilst I'm aware of the importance of this game, I'm also aware Thursday is more important.

I'm convinced we can't make top four now, I know we can't give up the league but I can't get up for the games anymore.

We didn't struggle at all at Thursday . We just chose a wrong approach to see the game out and that lead to us receiving the equalizer but we were controlling the game before this . On the next Thursday I'm sure we'll control the game with no problems . You're talking about Lyon or Viga as if they're a good teams but as I told you Lyon is 4th in french league and lost 12 matches , while Viga is 10th in La Liga and lost 13 matches . I don't see your point of how we'll struggle against them because of pressure . Where's the pressure ? Comparing the league matches to a cup match is imo irrelevent . You can draw 0-0 On the next Thursday and you'll pass to the next round . In the league it'll be a disastrous result , so no comparison believe me .The league match is taken on its own and no way to compensate for the result , and anything other than win is considered a bad result. In Europe League a draw sometimes is not a bad result at all and with our ability to get good away results what will put us under pressure ?

Nope , we were caring for it since game 2 . We were playing many starters in EL games since our loss to Feyenoord. Jose always talked about us respecting the competition and playing a strong team in it. We even played against Saint Etienne in France with a strong team even though we got a Cup final the next match so we clearly showed interest in it. It's true that we're going to prioritize it now but that doesn't mean the team and the manager weren't caring for the competition from start.

Would love us to beat them to take revenge for the humiliations this season at their place and I hope spurs win the title now so there's that.

Didn't we? Yes we dominated, yes we created lots of chances, but we didn't win against an inferior team, taken in isolation, no issue, but it has happened time and again now, something is clearly wrong.

I'm not talking about Lyon, or Celta Vigo as great teams, I know what they are, but you talk about it like we just have to turn up and we'll win just because we have a home and away game, no way as simple as that, just like 0-0 on Thursday is not going to be if we stupidly take that approach, which could happen the longer the game goes on without a goal.

Where's the pressure? The remaining games we have in the EL are maybe our best of getting CL football next season, if we don't it'll cost us £70 m +, transfer targets, leave Jose with serious question marks, and set us back once again, that's the pressure, and I'm sure they all know it.

:( Don't take it personally, mate. Our players only did their jobs. United have handed out a fair few trashings to Chelsea, most memorably a 4-0 in the FA cup final.

Oh yes, that 1-0 humiliation we had.

(I am aware that the 4-0 was one humiliation)

We were the better side in the FA Cup game right up until the sending off, i know that this Chelsea side is beatable.

What worries me is this mental block that we seem to have especially at home hopefully we will come straight out of the blocks though.

I would imagine that Jose will play 3-5-2. Something along the lines of:

    ----------------De Gea--------------------

    --------Baiily---Blind---Rojo----------

    Shaw----------------------------Valencia

    -------------Fellaini----------

    --------Herrera------Pogba---------

    --------Rashford------Ibra------------

Crazy to think that, if we win, Spurs will only be 4pts behind. Everyone thought Chelsea had the league sewn up months ago!

Not that I think it'll happen but, if Chelsea do capitulate, it could rival our 11/12 bottle job.

We're capable of beating them. What worries me is our home form. Absolutely woeful. Our away form is almost on par with Chelsea. They have two more away wins. We just can't score at home. Our defense is solid though. We just need to keep our heads tomorrow. We've got two wins with Madley in charge this season. It's written in the starts.

What a bunch of moaners. Get hyped and hard for this match. The following sums up my prematch thoughts against Chelsea.

Celta is a very dangerous team and I think it's 50-50 chances if you play them next.

As for todays game you can win it if you play with confidence from the first minute. Chelsea look a bit relaxed lately, as if all the hard work has been done and they now just have to wait for the prize. It's a danegourus place to be in mentally.

    DDG
    Bailly, Rojo, Blind
    Valencia, Pogba, Herrera, Shaw
    Lingard, Zlatan, Mikhi

Romero, TFM, Darmian, Fellaini, Carrick, Rashford, Martial.

    2:1 clutch win for UTD.

You heard it here first, folks!

Even though we need to focus on Europa I hope we beat these plastic cnuts today, win as ugly as necessary, and put the pressure on them to slip up in the title race.

Would love it if spurs pip them to the post at this stage, as unlikely as it sounds now it'd suddenly start to seem feasible if they lose today.

Some might be playing for their futures today. Biggest game of the season as I think lose this and we are will be knocked out on Thursday. Pogba needs to show up today.

I don't think we can finish in the top 4 but I would love to beat the Chavs and hope Spurs can pip them to the title.

They have classless fans, the way they have treated Jose since he was sacked last season is a joke. Their most successful manager ever and they treat him as if he was Moyes.

I don't even care about top 4 anymore. We need to win this just to let Chelsea know that they are not all that great of a team. Jose would be desperate to win this one!

We will dominate possession, create 100 chances but our impotent forwards will screw every single one of them. We will then get a midfielder sent off because the referee will be shit and Chelsea will proceed to get 3 goals. This is like a FIFA game script.

Listening to that Mourinho interview I'm surprised we're not just making wholesale changes and resting for Thursday.

You don't have to be a football expert to see were well out of reach of top four. Even in our title winning seasons it would be a big ask to expect to win against Arsenal, Spurs, City away and Chelsea at home.

All our eggs are in the Europa basket, we should be expecting us to rest players rather than play them.

Mensah, Tuanzebe, Shaw, Willock, Blind, Darmian, Lingard, Martial

All these lads have been rotated or had a lack of playing time, get them on the pitch and rest the key players.

Ibra, Pogba, Rojo, Bailly, Mkhitaryn, Carrick and Herrera.

And risk losing 0-4 at home? Would be absolutely intolerable for Mourinho. He's too proud. It's his old club, and he's already lost twice to them with a deficit of 0-5.

While I agree that it will very unlikely that we'll make the top 4, I think it'd be foolish to throw all our eggs into the EL basket until we're mathematically unable to reach top 4. We need to garner that winning mentality and telling the players to focus on one competition over another could cause the players to lose focus when we need a win at all costs mentality for every game, it's doesn't have to be pretty but it's a bonus if it is.

Sorry, I don't buy that defeatist attitude.

We're turning into a bunch of cowards.

Yet, on the other hand, were running the key players into the ground.

There is a serious chance we could blow the Europa by chasing a position were unable to drag ourselves back into.

Have a lot of confidence today, god knows why.. blinded by my support for the club most likely but I really do think today we could surprise the majority of the media who think it'll be a Chelsea win.

I expect a close game, Jose will take the two defeats to Chelsea this season personally and I think he'll set us up to be defensively sound with a threat on the break.
