It makes sense if Greenwood is playing CF.

    EDIT: But also this

Does not make Sense just for Greenwood playing.
It makes sense if Cavani himself said that it's better not to start.

Cavani has been a world class player, and has been a good signing for us at this late stage of his career. But I think, if we can afford it, this is why we need to look at another centre forward this summer.

He clearly has injury issues now and, more than that, he's got a mental issue about his body - only playing if he's had a good training session, not wanting to have too many starts in a row just in case, etc. All perfectly understandable given his age and injury issues, but far from ideal for a club playing as many important games as we do, and often weekend, midweek, weekend.

Long term, we really need a main striker who has a body that can cope with that kind of schedule, rather than one having to have his schedule carefully managed.
We need a CF regardless of Cavani’s situation

I guess the people that want us to go into next season with only Martial and Greenwood as ST if Cavani leaves should have some answer today

I’ve just remembered what a bunch of WUMs Burnley are. Hopefully they won’t be up to the usual tactics.

    Who should he trust? James?
Even before his last injury, I had the feeling he (Rashford) wasn't fully fit/injured for some time. VdB (RM), Diallo, even James for this game yes. Or Mason (RW), Pogba (LM), Cavani on top.

Burnley to Channel their inner Beresi and defend for their lives. We have never convinced against packed defence, goes w/o saying but got to move the ball faster otherwise can see them nicking one from set piece.

I'm expecting today to be a lot easier than normal for us.

    Greenwood hat trick

So you don't agree with getting a player's opinion on whether he can be relied upon to start based on how he feels about his fitness?
Not at all! I just knew that Ole wasn't controlling this team on his own:wenger:

Did one of Keano's dogs bit him early this morning or something? He's in a foul mood: everyone was is shite and awful and not trying! And United haven't even kicked off yet! Mind you, quite a lot of what he said about Pogba is right, if you ask me. Not done enough in him time at OT, doesn't affect enough games enough...

    Hope its a proper 4-3-3 2ith Fernandes as a false 9

    Henderson
    Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred Pogba
    Greenwood Fernandes Rashford

what is Ole resting Cavani for? can't understand why he isn't starting after last week where he was outstanding: a 10/10

Why is John Moss in charge of this fixture again? Cnut gave everything to Burnley in their win at OT last year.

So Cavani is actually player manager

If the player is not feeling fully recovered from the last game, then it would be silly to force him to play the full game.
Cavani is an experienced player who knows his body. If he advises his manager that it would be best that he comes on in the last 30 minutes of the match, then Ole would do well to heed that advice.

Seems like good man-management from Ole, actually. Cavani is an older player and will know his body. Playing x amount of games in a short space of time without a decent recovery period isn't going to have a positive effect on the game. We're better off bringing him on with 20 or so minutes to go at this stage rather than starting him and playing him for 70. This just seems like the sensible thing to do. I think most good managers already operate in this way. It's just good communication.

Cavani himself said that he would rather be a sub. Assume that this is due to recovery issues.

Cavani is ultra professional and knows his body and what’s best for it. Rashford could learn a lot from him. And so could Ole.
TBF, they're at different stages of their career.
I'm sure Cavani was prepared / able to put his body through more at 23 - and to start weekend, midweek, weekend - than he is at 34. And I'm sure in time Rashford, like most players, will have to start managing his workload differently later in his career.

Anyone thing we should swap positions of pogba and bruno ?

I will never understand why people will persist to experiment with formations when we know Ole prefers a 4231 and has been using it for the majority of the season.

    Love Richards and Keano.

It's just a matter of time before he comes out with "do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth!".

We haven't beaten these at OT in 4 seasons. Amazing.

Cavani works very hard and runs a lot when he plays so I don't mind Ole not starting him this game, he should be managed so we don't lose him for EL semis vs Roma. Rashford was given a deserved rest from the game vs Granada, so hopefully he is fresh for this one, Greenwood's form has improved recently so I am happy for him to start this one.

Lets go everyone.. let's win this one and put on a show
