This game should tell us a lot about what trajectory we're heading in. At home we should really be winning but it certainly won't be easy. With our away troubles we really need OT to remain a fortress.

I understand that we had a couple of worrying perfomances till now, but the negativity here is something else. Sit and counter at home vs Brighton, just because they are a pretty good team?

I hope we press them relentlessly and very high up the pitch and they can lose the plot. As we did last year at their ground at first half, where we unluckily did not score first. Same thing during first half in Tottenham this year.

One of the problems is that we do not take the lead in our good period and that when our good period in the game ends, we can become really shit, like there is no mid-level and we cannot manage games at all.

    Onana

    Dalot
    Martinez
    Lindelöf
    AWB

    Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Fernandes

    Rashford
    Højlund
    Pellestri

If Mount is fit I think he'll come in for Pellestri and he or Bruno will start on the right. Hopefully Amrabat can get 20 minutes.

    Onana
    AWB - Lindelof - Martinez - Dalot
    Casemiro - McTominay
    Bruno - Eriksen - Rashford
    Martial

In second half we might see Højlund, Garnacho and Pellistri

This is not what I hope for but what I beleive ETH would play on Saturday. McTominay is coming home from a good performance with Scotland so might get a chance to start. On RW, he has not yet shown that he trust Pellistri or any other young player to start, so there is a big chance he might start with Bruno and move Eriksen to AM. On CF, he might slow it with Højlund and let him in in second half, which I believe is the smartest to do, there isn't any reason to put so much pressure on the kit as the season is still very looong.. I am assuming that both Varane and Mount wont' be available and that Sancho won't start due to the publicly ongoing disputes

One thing to consider too is the fact that Casemiro played 90 minutes in a game that ended at 5:00 BST this morning.

Change of sleep rhythm, jetlag and a long flight is far from ideal preparation.

I think EtH will still start him regardless but I wouldn’t be surprised if he struggles.

This, but I think Hojlund will get the first 60-70 minutes

We're playing Brighton. Not Pep's Barcelona.

There's absolutely no need to set up shop and defend deep.

Just remind you that we are still unbalanced this season and we need to find our defensive shape, especially without Shaw, Varane (Martinez). Brighton will exploit our spaces, if we are too open.

Think we need to close them as much as possible, especially their wing back.

We finally will be playing with a REAL striker after 2 years of egoistical past it maniac and a sicknote,

Why on the United website when trying to purchase tickets it’s only doing the hospitality ones? Anyone els have this problem? When clicking on an area the prices are like 295 pound.

I had to buy hospitality ones for wolves. I thought it's because the rest are sold out, but I don't know.

It’s done it a few times to me even straight after the tickets have been released so I don’t think it’s a case of them being sold out.

Im hoping for a Bruno/Hojlund masterclass, (will Amrabat be fit enough?) hopefully kickstart our season again, but think if Rasmus doesnt come out all guns blazing we will probably lose.

And people wonder why the Glazers are still here

Get a load of this, guys... United fan who thinks he can actually buy a ticket and go to the match.

It's been this way forever mate and it's sad.

We need new owners to build a 100,000+ stadium and maybe we'll have a chance at going to a match now and again.

It's not about need, we won't have the ball and they will be all over us.

Part of managing is knowing your strengths and weaknesses. Brighton is currently better than us at most things, we need to sit back and counter them.

Then serious questions need asking of Ten Hag. At what point do we expect to dominate teams not named City/Arsenal/Liverpool at Old fecking Trafford?

I thought it was the norm.
I actually bought the tickets no more than 3-4 days after release.
But well I'm from Chile and it was my first time in Old Trafford so I guess that and my pic with Fred the Red makes it worthy

Nah I’ve been to loads it’s just the website seems to of gone shite now and always messes up. They want you paying 300 plus for a ticket.

This is annoying. Hopefully with 10 of the players out there belonging to PL clubs, the Brazilian FA has arranged some sort of expedited transport for them all to be in the UK by tonight.

Well the worst few weeks in recent memory for this club is coming to an end against Brighton…am I right!?

Hopefully we drop Martial. Stop beating a dead horse already. Whatever the result with Hojlund starting, at least it shows we are trying to do something about the poor performances.

Maguire-Evans partnership cost us dearly yesterday. They'll be ripped to shreds by Brighton, so hopefully we can get some CBs fit for this.

They basically played a 4-4-2 in their last game and the strikers dropped deep a ton and the opponent (can't remember who they played) couldn't cope at all, we'd be in real trouble with Evans and Maguire stepping up.

Surprised this is a 3pm slot. Surely would have been a better game to televise than Liverpool v Wolves, Bournemouth v Chelsea or Forest v Burnley.

I can't even predict what will happen. My general feeling against Brighton is that they will dazzle and dominate with their football, but ultimately they will be wasteful and we'll nick goals and get a result. When they have their scoring boots on though, they tend to give us a roasting. So it could be us stopping the rot or being sent into an even bigger spiral on saturday.

Going to have my five minutes of optimism before the nerves kick in.

Predicting Shaw's injury is going to be a blessing in disguise. Religious fella and Rashford to strike up a wicked partnership on the left.

Antony's off-field troubles also turn out to be a blessing; Garnacho turns out to be just as effective on the right.

Ambrabat really is the missing piece in midfield, bridging the gap perfectly between defence and attach, and the blondie up front nets a brace and is too much for Brighton to handle.

    /optimism.

Agreed. Having Martial on the pitch is like playing with 10 men. Brighton will have most of the possession, so we need a willing runner up top.

    Injured again?

I can see an easy 3-1 victory with AWB pocketing Mitoma and Casemiro with McT controlling the midfield. 2 goals for Hojlund and 1 for Bruno

Not at all, we're in a full blown injury/squad crisis, with a lot of uncertainties and new players who barely had a chance to integrate with the team.

I think game can be (and should be) the start of a good path, if we manage to win.

We play Bayern away (which will be very tough), but we go to Burnley next Saturday, then play twice Palace at home, receive Galatasaray and Brendford, we go to Sheffield and receive Copenhagen before receiving City at the enf of October.

Meaning that with a good start (hopefully) this saturday (and removing Bayern) we may have a very good run a win, having players back and building our confidence, before parking the bus against City.

And even after City, we'll go to Fulham, Copenhagen, receive Luton, go to Everton and Galatasaray. Then the run toughens with Newcastle, Chelsea beginning of December.

So yes, this game, like the Liverpool one last year, is pivotal.
