No martial probably means Bruno as false 9 with eriksen into the midfield with McFred.

Don’t see ronaldo starting after only 45 mins of preseason.

My fat thumb pressed the "I don't want to submit a score prediction" so that's a failure.

    3-0 United.

You know it's not as simple as that right.

    Well what am I missing?

The performance on the day will decide the outcome, but with superior players, a better manager and a home advantage; I was questioning the pessimism on here.

Are we still having nightmares about last season?

What I think will be our lineup:
    DDG
    Dalot - Maguire - Lindelof - Shaw
    Fred
    McTominay - Fernandes
    Sancho - Martial - Rashford

    2-0 United, Sancho brace.

I'd go Rashford right Garnacho left Ronaldo up top if Martial and Sancho are out
Sancho is fine, not a chance he doesn't start. Was there all pre season, missed less than 1 week with illness and will have another 3 training sessions to get sharpness back. He's fine.

    DDG
    Dalot Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McFred
    Bruno
    Sancho Rashford Garnacho

    Subs:
    Eriksen for Bruno
Ronaldo for one of the attackers
    van de Beek for Fred

I'd play Eriksen ahead of Bruno but I think he's not fit. For the same reason I don't think we will go with Bruno at false 9/LW.

Ffs, we're gonna lose to Brighton again aren't we? Ronaldo or Amad?

Damn, I thought we could edge out and win, but with Martial out and Sancho questionable I think the most we can expect is a draw. :(

Maybe Martial's absence is Garnacho's Rashford moment
Would be some statement but I don’t think a brand new manager is going to chuck Garnacho in for his first ever game on the opening day of the season.

Yeah can't see it, would be fairytale stuff. Wasn't ETH a bit reluctant to play youth at Ajax as well?

A half fit Ronaldo is better than Rashford up top so he'll have to play one half at least.

Probably in his athletic article where he put martial was out. Luckhurst said he's back training too

He probably is back from illness but I didn't see him in any of the training photos from today. Hopefully he'll be back in training by tomorrow but I'm not sure I believe any suggestions that he was in training today and somehow nobody managed to picture him.

Garnacho going to get his chance earlier than expected.

Garnacho going to get his chance earlier than expected.

I'd love that but I feel like he isn't going to get much gametime this season. I'd be surprised to see him playing against Brighton.

Id definitely consider him if Martial is injured

    I don't think he'll start.

    Sancho -------- Eriksen -------- Bruno

    -------------------- Rashford ----------------

... I reckon. Ronaldo in the second half. But Garnacho surely deserves minutes ahead of Elanga, if we need some pace.

Has ETH ever played Bruno on the left?

Pushed wide vs Aletico to accomodate a Fred, Van de beek and Eriksen midfield.

Rashford played through centre and Pellistri on the right until he had to come off.

    Rashford--------------------------Sancho
    Bruno

    Eriksen
    Fred----McTominay

    Malacia-----Lindelof----Maguire----Dalot

    DDG
If Martial is injured, I think we'll go with a false 9.

EtH hasn't played Bruno there before, but he has tried Hannibal in that position during one of the friendlies. So the system is seemingly a part of his thinking.

Eriksen will play out of necessity, rather than because he's ready. Martinez isn't needed yet, so his inclusion can wait.

Hopefully, Garnacho will get some minutes. I think VdB will probably come on for one of McFred as well.

It's not as bad as people are making out, imo. Ole got 2nd place with a similar strength team, and EtH appears to be a better manager.

de Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; van de Beek, Fred; Garnacho, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford. Maybe?

I wonder if ten hags tempted to start garnacho instead of rashford this weekend?… first home game of the season and he’ll get the fans of there seats no doubt. I know ten Hag likes him but he might play it safe and start rashford.

As excited as I am for the new season to start, I can't say I'm feeling (or sensing) many positive vibes. The lack of squad depth, the Ronaldo situation, and now the couple of injuries we have, it's not great.

Anyway, I'm going to go with a very hard-fought 1-0 in this one.

Nah if Garnacho comes in it would be for Elanga with Rashford up top.

I have no idea what we’ll do now, obviously Ronaldo is going to get minutes but it’s either start him for 45-60 or sub him on. Rashford at striker makes me want to puke tbh

Putting 40 quid over 6,5 offsides in that case.

    Garnacho - Rashford - Sancho
    Bruno
    McFred
    Shaw - Martinez - Maguire - Dalot
    DDG

    Eriksen, Ronaldo, Malacia as subs

    4-0 United. 2x Rashford, 1x Garnacho & Sancho

Its sad because everything was quite positive until Ronaldo came back into the picture, then the club just apparently stopped doing anything in the transfer window and have ignored obvious issues. Hopefully we can start the season well and make some signings to close the window
