    McF as the two and I'm assuming then it will be Rashford as the striker, bruno / sancho on the wings and Eriks as the ACM??

    Glad to see the King is sitting rightfully on his throne on the bench

    9/11, had Malacia and Ronaldo instead of Eriksen and Shaw.

    Hoping it’s Bruno as a false 9 and not Rashford up front.

    But I think we can all agree that thank feck it’s not Elanga.
     
    Eriksen plays well today and I don’t see him leaving the XI, tbh
     
    I'm surprised Martinez is starting and Malacia isn't. Thought it'd be the other way around seeing as Martinez didn't get much gametime in the preseason while Malacia did (while Shaw missed the last couple of games). I figured it'd be 50/50 between Eriksen (once again because of the lack of preseason) and Elanga.
     
    Ronaldo on the bench... hope he isn't needed.

    Mainly because if he is, it will mean we are behind or drawing with 20 mins to go!

    Martinez starting, exciting but curious how the little fella will get on.

    Garnacho impressed enough to be on the bench and hopefully some game time.

    McTominay the only major annoyance. Still, excited for this. Season begins!
     
    The irony of having a full summer and still starting with McFred. Hopefully it is with a significantly different set of instructions.

    Shaw starting is a bit of a surprise after being out with illness; hope he's up to it. Bruno as a false nine by the looks; should be interesting. Would have liked to try Rashford up front with Eriksen next to Fred, but oh well.
     
    Really pleased that Sancho is playing. We really need a proper back up to him. Fernandes as a false nine or what?
     
    Honestly it's pretty horrible seeing some of those players starting after the performances they put in last season but I think it's more a indictment on how poor the board have been at getting players in.

    With a new season and new manager I'm willing to give those players another (what are we on third or fourth?) chance but I won't be as patient as previous seasons if they revert back to the rubbish the delivered last season

    Can’t believe we’re entering another season with mctominay and Fred as CM… they can’t control and dominate games!!
     
    Quite a few big calls already! Really interested to see how ETH does. Let's hope we get off to a good start. Five subs probably means it was slightly easier to take risks on a couple.
     
    Didn't bow to pressure to start Ronaldo. This man has the right minerals.

    The team is basically the exact same one that failed beyond belief last season. I'm just not expecting miracles from ETH. I think we will win today but I don't have the buzz I usually get.

    I don't think so. I don't think Eriksen will play wide. More likely he plays 10 so he can thread balls into Rashford, Sancho, Bruno in my opinion.


    The front 3 should be pretty fluid anyway though.
     
    We can't field a much stronger line up with what we have available considering Ronaldo isn't fully fit.

    A billion spent and this is our squad. First game of the season and the most exciting thing is Garnacho on the bench.
