Not really, he's been getting turned inside out consistently throughout the second half. He was rubbish for our goals against Sevilla. He's had mistakes in the past. He's rubbish in the air.

Good player, can pass, is aggresive, but defensively is lacking in positioning, heading, and quite often in one on one tackling too.

So yeah, do let me know if you have the capacity to reply with something more than just banal insults.
He's also been out with a long-term injury, was playing extremely well before it and is playing his way back to form and confidence but don't let that get in the way of your agenda.

He's good at positioning himself to break up play and set us up on a counter, he's a great tackler, he's decent in the air, he's good on the ball and he actually puts pressure on opposition attackers as opposed to all our other CB's bar Jones. He's shown he's capable of playing at a high level with any of the other used CB's in our squad on top of that. Oh, and he's still young (23) and improving. And players are reporting on him as a positive influence on the squad.

He's our best CB, by a bloody mile.
A incident here or there doesn't change that he's a quality player, and all your post is doing is showing how you overreact a feck-ton when you call him a poor defender.

Wait for the shite to hit the fan from whoever draws Spurs at Wembley.

The heading, defensive errors and positioning all applied before. He's better than Jones and Lindelof but he has his weaknesses. I'm more comfortable with Smalling in there because defensively he's better, but Bailly is much better on the ball and fairly aggressive which are good traits for him. Just can't be sure of defensively solidity when he's in there atm.

Both goals, btw, coming from crosses, which says nothing about quality in general. Resorting to scoring goals from crosses and not creating pure footballing chances is Championship/Lower-half Prem standard,
We haven't really scored from combination play since the Chelsea game but all goals are equal, even long balls/crosses. I'd say we still need to work on some passing drills because we have too many stray passes happening when players have no clue where the receiver will be.

    Defending
    - Not great in the air
    - Poor positioning (see today or the Sevilla match where he was running all over the place and leaving the centre empty)
    - Turned inside and out mutliple times today

Not really to do with defending
    - Good on the ball
    - Young and improving

I'm talking about defending. All round he's not bad, but his defending is still suspect. Rojo and Smalling are better pure defenders, but obviously with the latter he's rubbish on the ball.

Again, you're pointing at one game when you say poor positioning. In general his positioning is good, especially for his style of defending on taking the ball before the opposition gets stability in our half.

"Not great in the air", sure he's no Nemanja Vidic, but you can't expect every defender to be Vidic either in the air. Bailly is fine in the air. Needs a partner who is good at covering if his early challenge gets turned away from and who is better in the air. But he's still by far our best defender overall.
Van Dijk would be a brilliant partner for Bailly. Smalling without being so poor on the ball & with brainfarts would also be a great partner for Bailly. The issue isn't Bailly being a poor defender, the issue is that he like any young defender has situations where he isn't doing as he should & he doesn't have a partner that works well with him.

Let me guess, you're one of those who think Smalling is our best CB? If you think CB's today only needs to be good on the defensive side of the game of being a CB then you're lost in the past.

The way I look at it is this: What does it take to cross a ball and win a header? it can be done well at any level, whether Prem, Championship or even Conference. When I watch United, I want us to be able to do things with the ball that others cannot do. Crossing is a great tool, but I don't want majority goals to come from it. I want some incisiveness, some good movement, some interchange, some through balls, and if we cross, squared balls across the 18 yard box. When I see poor performances and few shots, I think of Fulham away and it frustrates me, especially given that we have players that are capable of better football.

But you're right, we need passing and attacking drills. Attacking coaching. There's no systematic movement moving up the field. It's all instinctive.

Numbers mean feck all my man, he was playing on the wing for Monaco and Lyon before them.

Ofcourse I know that numbers mean feck all- however; Martial was played on the wings because players like Falcao was playing upfront for Monaco; not because he is a future fledged left winger.

By the guy who scouted him for united; the guy he was bought for to be managed by - talking about how Martial & Rashford should play in partnership.

"The battle between Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial has been great to follow," Giggs told Sky Sports.

"I could definitely see them in the same team, with Marcus being more of a natural centre-forward whereas Martial is more of a left-sided forward but can also play centrally."

You guessed wrong. Re-read my post.

So Rojo is the best defender we have in your eyes?
Yet being rash, poorly positioned, getting turned on & being poor in the air is used to say that Bailly is poor.

Also "pure defenders" means feck all if you can't deliver on the other aspects of playing as a defender that is needed in the modern game.
Your opinion is hilariously bad, but as you said it's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Partership didn't and doesn't imply that the 2 would play centrally

Out of interest when is it about style?
When we play against bottom half/mid table teams in the league or the early rounds of the Cup competitions,we want to see the lads play with style and swagger(which they obviously haven't done over the past 4 seasons). But once you reach the quarters/semis of the cup competitions, then its all about getting the result...
