Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • I've said it several times in this forum. Malacia is not good enough, even as a squad rotation player. At least these appearances he's getting are letting it be known to Amorim.

Zirkzee - for a big unit - really does play like he’s scared of his own shadow. Any chance you could maybe get involved you fecking useless lump?
Even more annoying he was the one marking for the goal, he is like 6'8" + 5" of hair, he cannot out jump somebody half his size, cannot jump at all

Yet more evidence that XG is utter fecking dogshite, useless stat, cannot believe how many people cream themselves over XG
You don't need xG to see we had lots of chances while they created feck all aside from that goal set piece.

It's a massive disrespect to Lukaku to even mention Zirkzees name in the same sentence. At least Rom scored goals and put himself about (when motivated).

This dutch lad is allergic to physical contact and seemingly doesn't have a sprint button on his controller.

    fecking state of him

I literally said that about him too? I was speaking specifically about the use of their physical attributes. Not comparing them as players.

Lukaku was huge, but didn't use it to his advantage much. Zirkzee seems to be much the same, and is losing physical battles to players half his size. Lukaku is obviously 100x the player.

We will win this 3-1. Amorim is fantastic at recognising where he’s gone wrong and more often than not makes the right changes to turn the game. Confident enough we will get the win in the 2nd half.
Wish Inhad this level of confidence.

Likelier to go two down than anything else.

We haven't played badly at all, especially after going behind. But you cannot concede a setpiece goal in a tight game against an inform side. That is just setting yourself up for failure. Zirkzee and Malacia are obvious weaknesses. Can't do anything about Malacia, but Hojlund needs to come on quickly. We need to make sure we don't concede at the start again, keep playing the way we ended the half, and we can still win this.
Of course we can. Bring Yoro and put Maz on the right and Dalot on the left.

Exactly. Feel for the lad as he's had shite injuries but even before that he didn't show enough. It's fine, he was a low cost gamble which hasn't worked out.

Don't rate Zirkzee at all. Bruno gets non stop shit, but if we get a goal it will be from him, not the striker

Bruno has been solid enough. The weak link is Malacia, who’s been tragic.

As I expected when we bought him. Zirkzee is anti footballer. I have no idea what he is good at. Typical League 2 player.

Malacia should stay on bench at half time together with Zirkzee.

Never understood the Caf pining for Malacia to come back from injury as I've said it a few times, he wasn't United quality before his injury. He's even less United quality after his injury and that's saying something as our squad it midtable standard.

    fecking state of him
It was clear to me almost immediately that neither Zirkzee nor Malacia were at the required level, but I was also hoping Amorim had the secret code to get them to function. He doesn’t and they won’t.

That said, I do like how this side is cutting through the middle and keeping the ball moving with more control through individual dribbles, less passing around the outside like it’s college basketball.

We still win 2-1 but halftime subs are in order.

Was probably ok as a squad option at LB before the injury. Really don't think he suits the WB role though. Would rather see him cover LCB if he really needs to play. He's played in a back 3 for Holland before.

But yeah, we need an upgrade, either way

Malacia and Zirkzee quite clearly. Onana and Martinez very questionable.

Malacia has been sidelined for a year and a half, and it’s hard to predict if he’ll regain the required level, but time will tell.

Zirkzee, still in his first season, doesn't seem like a natural fit for Amorim’s style, and I’d agree he may struggle to make a lasting impact.

Martinez, on the other hand, was outstanding when he first arrived—our standout defender without question. While injuries have taken their toll, his quality remains undeniable.

As for Onana, he's arguably been our standout player this season. Aside from a couple of recent errors, his performances have been consistently excellent.

Looking at ten Hag's signings, you've highlighted four: two brought in as squad players and two who have been dependable contributors. It's a mixed bag, but overall, there’s been some clear value added.

the positive thing is that despite play by poorly, we’ve had chances and were actually close to scoring a few times - which certainly didn’t happen under ETH.

Really not a formation that’s working - Zirkzee not in the game at all and really needs to play with runners

Under EtH we wasted whatever we created and it became defensive. the football was execrable but it yielded two trophies.

He did okay in his first year. Some good, some bad. I do think his 1 year+ injury took away his chance to become a valued rotation player for Manchester United. He wasnt a super talent to begin with and missing a year of development is just too much.

Malacia was poor, so fair enough he's taken off. We already know it but, we have a wing back problem on both sides.

    Bruno doesn't work in Amorim's no.10 because :-

    - He's constantly running onto balls out wide. He's slow, he's got zero acceleration and it immediately makes him turn his back to goal with the ball, which is when he loses it the most.

    - He's better delivering the ball from deep. Bruno is a far better CM in Amorim's system than he is a 10.
