  • We need a half decent striker. We create chances and have shots where the like of a chicharito would fees off the rebounds etc. don't see that in Hojlund and Zirkzee.

I'd even be happy with a short term cheap signing like say Calvert Lewin who I believe is in his last year at Everton.

Not saying he is the long term answer or the answer to be fair and not sure what his fitness is like. Just that instinct a striker would have that I don't see currently

Malacia and Zirkzee are obviously not good enough, but what's happened to Dalot as well? He's such a passenger...

Also what happened to Bruno's finishing? My goodness has he regressed.

Amad needs to impact the game more as well, he's done well when he's been on the ball, but not nearly enough. I will say, his corners are so much better than what we're used to

I don't want to see another member here trying to justify or defend Zirkzee over Højlund. feck me what a shit player.

Yes Højlund isn't the best, but he's way better than that oaf of a player(Zirkzee).

Same thing every week. Hojlund started the last match against Spurs and was invisible for 60 minutes. Zirkzee came on, added energy and scored a tap in. Now we're about to find out if Hojlund will make a difference when he inevitably comes on. We're not playing in the EL against a shite team though

I'd genuinely push Mainoo into the number 10, bring Casemiro on for Malacia and move Amad to RWB and let him use his creativity further back.

I think Mainoo’s off the ball stuff is overstated — his bigger issue for me is that his passing range looks limited. I was under the impression when he was in the youth systems he was touted for having a good range of pass, but since making the jump to senior football it’s all short pass give-and-go’s. Very rarely does he make a linebreaker or even a well pinged cross fielder.

It’s a profile we really lack in the side — haven’t really had a good long range passer since Pogba. Edit: Eriksen, sort of. But still not enough for me.

If you are an opposition team playing united you can just double up on amad knowing no one else is capable of doing anything

Mainoo has been pretty poor this season, I agree with someone else there is no guarantee he's going to be a superstar, He's pretty solid but don't get the hype

Can someone help me understand why our players are incapable of defending set-pieces? Like, what quality/knowledge is missing in our players? Courage to get to the ball with their heads?
Some players are just capable of winning the headers in the boxes. Maguire, Casemiro, De ligt. People complain about these players and McTominay as well when he was here but they had their strengths, and being able to defend set pieces was one of them. The same lessons have to be learned every time there's a coaching change.

Yes let's buy an injury prone striker who isn't playing for a team that score no goals

Eriksen is the best we have but sadly he doesn't have the engine for a full game regularly

Set pieces are risking undermining any progress we want to make as a team at this stage.

I feel like every PL game under Amorim we've conceded from one? Bar maybe the opener vs Ipswich.

Questions need to be asked big time. We cannot build anything if we conceded from a set piece every game.

Apart from that, wing backs and striker continue to be an issue. On the positive side, the issues are identifiable and solvable.

    They're both not good enough

Onana has also been pretty terrible at building from the back today. It was playing a big part in our poor ball progression in the first 30mins.

Malacia grew into the game tbh, made some good tackles and passes, he just started badly.

Amorim deserves intense scrutiny for what way he is coaching us.

I'm not demanding his head but it seems to be the same old story. Teams are confident playing us because they know we won't take chances.

Set-pieces are far too easy and what usually follows is reactive substitutions, costing us any possible momentum.

I don't know how many matches it takes for this to be changed.

Better towards the end of half. Another set piece goal and it's difficult to get results when you concede so many of those. Not surprising that Bournemouth have been equal, we were always going to struggle against them.

I'm dreading first 15 minutes of 2nd half. Arsenal scored their first in 54th minute. Tottenham scored 2: in 46th and 54th minute. Viktoria scored in 48th minute. We're vulnerable in those first 10-15 minutes of second half and Bournemouth will surely start fast with intent to make most of it. Will be difficult to get back into the game if it's 0-2.

Erikson has a good long pass.
