Ibrahimovic AND Lukaku? I bloody well hope not.

I hope Mou feels he has a score to settle after Sunday. Not just a win but a convincing one with flowing football and a clear victory, not one of those games where we go one up, sit back and wait for a counter-attack to pay off. However, I feel he'll be more concerned about winning than proving a point.

Bournemouths "performance" in this fixture last year was one of the most infuriating I have seen at old Trafford. I probably dislike them more than I should, but hope we absolutely hammer them

    I like your style.
Let's hope our players also share your passion.

Call me a spoilt fan or whatever, but the City defeat has taken away a lot of the enthusiasm I would normally have for this game.

Still, I hope we can put in a good performance and get back to winning ways. Lukaku to score - 3-0 United.

Think Jose will drop Lingard and Martial for not producing in defeat last Sunday. He will stick with Lukaku till the end of this season and probably wont play 5 defenders while his style of play against City is being widely criticized. Mkhitaryan didnt show up in Lowry so that front four is all we have left.

    Just possibilities though

To me, it felt that Miki himself, felt that he was "done". He had nothing more to give in the last match.
    He was terrified of tackling.
He just doesn't look like a player who is willing to work hard for the team - something which Jose demands of all his players.
I see him out the door in the Summer (unless he can make a miraculous turn around).

By the number of players arriving at the hotel, Mkhitaryan might be on the squad, there's some hope.

Anyone has a list of the players that arrived in the Lowry?
Sorry if someone has already posted it, I just can't find it :P

I think Shaw will start tonight, expect three at the back with martial and lukaku up top, mata in behind

I still have doubts Mourinho is risking starting Shaw after a defeat, Blind can get ahead. No 3 at the back, though.

This season, every time we have used 3 at the back, our opponents have started the match using the same system. Bournemouth have used 3 at the back in their games against Man City, Arsenal and Spurs but not against Chelsea, or in any other match. So far, they have lost all their matches against the big 6 but 3 of the four losses were by a single goal; the heavy defeat came against Arsenal.

Hoping for Mkhitaryan starting (good chance to see if theres literally any hope left).

    But realistically:
    DDG
    Valencia Lindelof Smalling Shaw
    Matic Herrera
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Lukaku

    subs: Rashford, Jones

Actually, Real Madrid and Swansea, both on cup games, haven't started 3 at the back when we did.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Matic Herrera
    Mata Lingard Rashford
    Lukaku

Subs: Romero, Jones, Darmian, Fellaini, McTominay, Martial, Ibrahimovic

Shaw might be wishful thinking but it feels like the perfect game for him to build on that game against CSKA, and since Young won't play every game over Christmas we could do with him getting as many matches as possible before then. Guess we might see Smalling rested for Jones, otherwise Jones, Fellaini and Ibra to come off the bench.

As our league season has turned into yet another tedious scrap for the top four. If we got a result against City, this game would have had a lot of hype around it.

Besides it is true we are 11 points behind City, we need to believe with our team and fight every game.
Hope we'll get a result tonight and our confidence back.

Imagine being a Liverpool fan, or Chelesa, Spurs, Arsenal...

Tedious scrap ? Really ? We are actually showing title winning form. Its just that City is damn good this year.

If we can keep this form, we are sure shot for top 2 and not exactly a scrappy top 4.

Many in here have lost their heads after the City match. All doom and gloom I tell ya.

Yeah. 35 points is usually a very good tally, sufficient for top spot in previous seasons. Its' just that City are very good and the lower teams are worse than previous seasons, which has enabled their mini invincibles run so far.

I think we already get the nod from Ozil. Agent P and Agent M(artial)'s behaviours toward Ozil before and after the match vs Arsenal were very suspicious

I think some of the excitement is gone as soon as the title challenge is over, and it looks to be close to over now. So what we're left with, no matter how good our own form is, is a fight for top 4, or top 3, or 2nd place. Tedious, maybe not, but it is less exciting than still being in a title race. If we'd beat City we'd be 5 points behind and the excitement would be bigger.

It's not impossible, sure. But it would be stupid.

And the last few seasons did considerable psychological damage. With every bad result we start thinking that this is the start of another "September 2016" or "November 2015", where we slide uncontrollably down the table. Now that the potential of moving upwards has been thoroughly destroyed, only this nagging fear remains.

How are we in a scrap for top four? We've been comfortably better than the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs etc. Our form has been great this season just that City have ran away with it. Any other season and I reckon we would be sitting top right now.

    Major doubts (for me): Smalling/Jones, Blind/Shaw, Lingard/Ibrahimović.

    I'm expecting several changes.

Ibra doesn't look close to being capable of 90 mins to me. I expect Jose will be hoping Lukaku can do something good in 60 mins then swap them. Otherwise it seems Lukaku will stay on and Martial/Rashford will get dragged off however well they're playing.

Hoping for an easy win, but if they score first it could get real ugly.

Same points with Chelsea though we have a game in hand; 4 points above Burnley, 5 points above Liverpool, 6 points above Arsenal and 7 points above Spurs. I wouldn't really say 'comfortably better'. City is 11 points above us, now that's what you call a comfortable lead. They will need to lose four times (not counting draws) before we can catch them.

Wonder how Matic's fitness is? He was meant to have been 'playing but injured' last game.

come on man - cheer up. We will cross the bridge when we reach there.
You are getting worried about something you are not even sure about.

We are making some excellent progress and I am happy about it.

    I'd like to see:

    ---------------de Gea---------------

    Valencia----Jones-----Lindelof------Shaw

    ---------McTominay-----Matic---------

    Rashford--------Mata--------Martial

    --------------Lukaku---------------

Give Jones another go, after his excellent performance against CSKA. We don't need both Matic and Herrera protecting the defence, so give young McTominay a go. Give Mata a chance to re-discover some form and let's see if Lukaku can bang a couple in and find some confidence.
