If Lukaku isn't going to score against the big teams, he better smash these small teams.
Depends on whether we ll present him with opportunity like, the ball is still at his feet after 2 touches and he is right in front of goal...

The Matic/Herrera combination worries me. Especially against a team where you'd expect us to have most of the ball. Herrera as the more attacking midfielder is just too safe for me.

Yeah, I don't think Herrera has enough presence to fill out a midfield two. He just disappears sometimes.
He does better in a midfield three where he can focus on harassing the opponent's offensive players, and occasionally play some brilliant through passes.

Fellaini was ready before the Derby, so I think he should be ready by now. Think him and Jones are definitely going to start this.

Jose may give Smalling a rest considering the number of games he played recently and start with Jones and Lindelof together.

Fellaini was ready and didn't made the bench? Mourinho said that?

He was with team in the bus going to stadium IIRC. Mourinho left him out of the 18 players so maybe he wasn't 100% ready, but can't see how he won't be ready for this match considering this.

Oh, I interpreted that, and Herrera's missing, with an attempt to fool Guardiola. I don't believe Fellaini was anywhere near ready to play, otherwise he would be in the squad instead of McTominay be it for his heading ability only.

The fact he was with the team proves he was about to get ready but not 100% yet to play so Jose left him out of the squad, so hopefully he should have become ready by now.

For crying out loud, it's not Fellaini, it's Pogba we need and he's letting us down, first with injury and now with the stupid suspension. The team is too dependent on him, specially because Mkhitaryan doesn't come good. Pretty stupid – I'll keep insisting – having loaned A.Pereira.

I predict theyll have 80% possesion but well win 2-1 on the counter typical mou

He is the cause for today's defeat. Missed a sitter and gifted two goals with awful defending. Do you need him to score own goals before you can point a finger at him?
Okay so what other matches. Your original comment indicates he cost us more than one. Your use of the plural is what is being questioned. Understand?

If we do not win this we need to kick the players up the ass!

    No excuse for tomorrow.

Have you seen him play at all recently? He has been dire. So if your main striker is dire, you don't blame him for not creating or scoring chances?

Are you one of those who thinks costing a match can only be through a defensive mistake or missing an open goal? If the main striker plays shit and cannot hold the ball up for toffees or play a pass to bring others into play, then he is not doing his job and contributing to us not performing well which leads to us not winning matches. Capiche?

Thats horrible. Hate watching on a stream.

All must wins from here on in. First is all but gone but we definetly need second place to show we are back and heading in the right direction.

    You mean today?

Its' tomorrow for some. Like me. Just after midnight which suits me fine considering I am on holiday.

It is a race for pride between ourselves, Chelsea and maybe Liverpool now. The ambition should be there to finish atleast 2nd and win the FA Cup. So we absolutely need to win this.

Lukaku and Herrera have no excuses to perform badly against Bournemouth. Need to step up.

5-0, Lukaku hat-trick, Lindelöf to score! Last goal up for grabs. Let's get it done in style!

You could really take these discussions into the threads that you’ve been arguing for similar “doom and gloom” points over and over again? Everyone has opinions but why not be a little more positive on a bounce back game thread before the ball has not even been kicked yet?

Come on Utd - let’s get some goals and start a run again!

    Hope we go with this:

    Martial Rashford
    Mata
    Shaw Matic Herrera Valencia
    Blind Smalling Lindelof
    deGea

This game is not live on telly in Norway so I will watch Norway v Russia instead. Might catch it later.

Ugh pride. Yeah, eleven points seems insurmountable and the title is City's to lose, but I really don't think pride will ever motivate me.

Second in my mind still reeks of first of the losers. Also considering there's automatic champion's league group stage qualification for the top 4, there honestly doesn't seem to be a difference (in my mind) between second to fourth.

Having said that, I hope we destroy this lot. 5-0, with a Lukaku hat-trick. :D

Bournemouths "performance" in this fixture last year was one of the most infuriating I have seen at old Trafford. I probably dislike them more than I should, but hope we absolutely hammer them

It was awful. That game, and also Hull in the league, both at Old Trafford around the same time. The time-wasting in both was on another level. There was a sub in the Hull game where someone really needed to go full Mark Noble and just carry him off the pitch. It took an age, and the referee looked like he was laughing about it, rather than hurrying them up like he is supposed to do.

Definitely hoping we dismantle them as well.

This is not an easy match:

They are unbeaten in their last four away league games, conceding only three goals in the process.

They’ve suffered single-goal defeats against City, Spurs and Chelsea so far this season.

There's been a few but Bournemouth in particular. It was pretty much from the first minute. I doubt there has ever been a game at old Trafford with the ball in play less, and even when it was active time was being wasted.

Manchester Evening News list the confirmed members of the squad at the Lowry as:

    De Gea, Romero, Joel Pereira
    Valencia, Young, Shaw, Blind
    Smalling, Lindelof, Jones
    Matic, Herrera, McTominay
    Lingard, Mata, Martial, Rashford
    Lukaku, Zlatan

No sign of Rojo, Fellaini, Tuanzebe, Darmian, Mkhitaryan. Usual caveats about players sneaking into the Lowry without being spotted. Typically, we tend to take 20 players to the Lowry with Joel Pereira and one other missing out, though 19 and 21 also occur.

Shame we won't see Zlatan vs Tyrone Mings round 2 as Mings' out. Hopefully Zlatan starts though.

Think he might, due us a goal against them after the penalty Miss last year. Never been so certain a player would miss
