For all those wanting to boo the players and LVG both during the match and come full-time, while I can understand the rationale behind that, it's hardly a good idea sending your team off with jeers before a FA Cup final is it?

Let's remain classy and cheer the team going into the final.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually think getting 4th is kinda likely, I think Swansea can beat City. Mentally we must have an edge, these guys are safe, they've had a decent season by all accounts and while they'll definitely be gunning for us, the win doesn't make as much of a difference to them as it does to us.
If City lose and we don't win, I think it'll be the new low of the LvG era for me. That alone though makes me think we could pull this one out of the bag, as he always manages to get a win right when we really really need one. Well, not always, but quite a few times.

Also noticed that we'd need to win by 18 goals to catch City on goal difference if they drew. That really sums our play this season up overall, really kinda pathetic even though we've grinded out a lot of results we didn't deserve.

I think we'll miss out on 4th by goal difference... as it's the most infuriating outcome.

Though I suppose it would be fitting.

I know I say this every year but where did the season go? It seems yesterday we were awaiting the first game of the season. I'm getting old....

    VAN GAAL PROVIDES INJURY UPDATE
Speaking to MUTV, van Gaal said: "Unfortunately Januzaj has been injured in the training session, so he is out for Sunday. We have to wait and see for the final. The rest is like it was. Darmian is still out but can be in. It is dependable on the progress. Schweinsteiger is out and Shaw is out. Ashley Young is coming in, so he is restored of his injury and can train tomorrow with our squad. But it is one training session."

    SHAW TO RETURN NEXT SEASON
Van Gaal: "I have always said to Luke that he can play in the final to keep his motivation high, but now I cannot say that anymore because we are in the final! It is a pity because he cannot reach that level to play. He needs more time to play but it keeps his motivation very high. It is still high and I have to give compliments to him because it is not easy to be away for such a long time. He is coming back, but he is coming back next season."

Weird. Watching LvG's football has made me think that this season is going on for ages...

What goes in these training sessions that so many of our players suffer injuries from them?

“We are now dependent on Manchester City and that is the difference.
“That is also frustrating because we had the chance, with two games to go, to keep that advantage. We were 2-1 ahead with 15 minutes to play and we gave it away. That is frustrating as now we are dependable. It is still possible, so we fight for until the end.”

“I can say what we have to improve still. I don’t think we have to improve much in our defensive organisation because we are doing well.

We have to score more in our attacking organisation which is something I have said at the start of this season. We need creative, fast players in attack. It is still what I have said at that time and we have to change that and that is very important.”

“It is always the same, you have to evaluate yourself and also the staff and the players.

“Then you have to communicate with them and listen to each other. This shall also be done next season. The principles are always the same, except when one of my players, staff or board members can convince me of other arguments. It is always like that.”

Not sure I like this. Sounds like he is too cosy and settled.

You cannot say that, you can only say it afterwards. Last year we were also in that situation and at the end we qualified.

Still there were players that I wanted that we did not purchase because you are dependable on a lot of circumstances. I cannot discuss that with you as it is a question for the board and the manager.”

    LVG: Killer instinct needed
Van Gaal was asked about United’s need to kill teams off quicker.

“Yes, I have said that many times so you are right.

“We train to overcome this problem, training in the situations that are ahead and that you have to make the pitch big and keep the ball better. When you make the pitch big the opponent has to run more metres and it is easier to do that.”

Am I the only one who read LVG's quotes in his voice?!!

0:5 Bournemouth is on 12% of the vote

"I have said that many times" is his most overused phrase

unless Swansea score quite early on, this'll be a dead atmosphere!

If City are 2-0 up by about 50, I expect Van Gaal will start "resting" players

What makes you think Swansea will beat City, with Williams and Siggy out?
If we'd not ridiculously thrown the WHam game away, and held the draw, we'd have a chance.

I know the last day 3 years ago had a mad script, but even needing to score 2 with 3 mins left happened for them, so a whole game to not lose to a poor team should be comfy

City will park the bus rather than risk anything.

I would love it if they did this, and then got suckered very late on.
It'd be fitting for their last min title steal.

Having said that, no one can claim we deserve top 4. That mad month where we didn't win a league game, and lost 3 in a row completely burgled us.

Swansea have just announced Ki Sung-yueng will not be playing due to S.Korea military service. This is on top of another 4 swansea players still being rested.

If Man City put the game to bed within 20 mins, i'd hope LVG does begin resting players by HT.

They didn't play against West Ham either.

City will be motivated and Swansea won't it'll probably end up a 1-1 draw and we will have egg on our faces again.

City just need to start fast and blow them away before they even get started, hopefully Swansea won't want to roll over though.

Gonna be interesting to see what changes we'll do for this match. I assume that Carrick will start instead of Schneiderlin at least, maybe CBJ/FM for Rojo aswell. Blind will probably start again. We're playing home against Bournemouth and this is a match we got to win of course. Dont wanna to see no patethic defending with all 10 men inside our box if we're leading with 1 single goal. Anything else than 3 p is unaccaptable and should put even more pressure on the manager.

For the first time I can remember, I genuinely might not bother watch.

It's just going to be a low rent repeat of 2012, and that was the worst football moment of my 40 years on the planet. Doing it again is not my idea of fun.

    You're in the i newspaper.

Could potentially be Carrick's last game for us tomorrow. No real news either way as to whether he's staying or going. He'd be going out on a right whimper if that's the case which would be a shame.

He'll probably start the FA Cup final alongside Fellaini.

Ki did play against West Ham, and now apparently is off for some military service type nonsense!
So that will be an extra blow.
Couple of others missing too, Taylor, and the keeper too.

So if they win, with those 5 out, Van Gaal really will be the luckiest manager ever!

    LOL, you're spot on though.

I think that was the stressiest moment I've ever had watching football. Pulse was racing, and it was a horrible feeling.
Even with a mere 3 mins left and City needing 2 goals!
Then they scored one, QPR didn't need a draw to stay up anymore due to results elsewhere, and I'll never forget how they just lumped it down field from kick off, instead of even pretending to try and keep the ball.

I doubt tomorrow will even give us a hope, and city go 1-0 up after about 7mins.

yeah, you couldn't make it up.

You think of Swansea and you think, well at least Williams and Taylor are fairly solid, Siggy scores goals, and Ki gets around and is a bit of a threat.

Oh no, those 4 are out. And the keeper.

Oh at least they'll still have....erm...

    erm...
    Ayew?

The players that are being rested because they're in the Euros, is it me, or is that a bit of a disgrace?
How about If Swansea are battling relegation one year, and need us to beat their rivals, we just rest off all our players early, and see if they like it?

I'm sure that if Swansea need our help in future we will make sure they don't get it.

so many lost opportunities over the season.

Even not throwing that 1-0 away to Chelsea away in the last min would have given us a good chance this weekend!

Let alone that mad month without a league win, including 3 consecutive losses, or some of those 0-0s.

Good news, is that under a good manager, it shouldn't be the hardest job ever to improve on this season!

Unfortunately the damage was done ages ago. Just hope they can put on a good display tomorrow and a cup win next week. It's the least the fans deserve.

In many ways the most appropriate end to a season where we score probably less than 50 goals, would be missing out on our end of season goal (I'm guessing) of CL qualification by goal difference.

Would be hugely frustrating though obviously!

Imagine the scenes if City draw, and we beat bournemouth 18-0 and then miss out on no. of goals scored
