They were shite against Sheffield, hopefully that form continues. They're a very good side though, they're genuine title contenders for me.

Villa are title contenders in part due to City’s slight drop in performance this season. Democratises opportunities for teams looking to break into the top 4

I'm not sure what your point is here...

Amad trained for last few weeks. Would love him to start but it'll be Antony of course.

Hopefully he can get on off the bench at least

Any lineup just looks unimpressive. We have to play Antony on the right because no one else will track back, maybe Pellistri, but I see Pellistri as more of an impact player from the bench. Shame Rashford has lost his mojo because Garnacho should be coming off the bench too.

Wish we could play with a single pivot and two forwards. Or have a winger who could wing, or a forward who could score. Hopefully a game of football will break out at some point.

The outcome of this game depends on one man and one man only.

I am certain we have players to draw or win this game, but we will need to stop this McT-Bruno bullshit and fix our midfield.

Will Ten Hag continue to be stubborn to the extent of being delusional or will he finally bench McT? He should have done it against West Ham so my expectations are very low, but if he continues with the craziness, now that there's new sheriff in town - he is sacking himself

ETH doesnt learn. You can bet your mortage on McBruno in the midfield.

Would love to see something different as 4 games without a goal show our current system isn’t working.

    Onana

    Varane
    Evans
    Shaw

    Antony
    Mainoo
    Bruno
    Erikson
    Reguillon

    Rashford
    Hoijlund

Terrible nightmare last night. Dreamt Villa opened the scoring in the first minute then hit another four in the opening 20. :nervous:

I wonder if the investment news will at least give the lazy cnuts a kick up the ass.

I am fully expecting Villa to run riot with a Maguire-less defence (couldn't have imagines typing this at the start of the season). Have captained Watkins and expecting a big haul from him

Utd are favourites for this with the bookies, yet the general sentiment on here seems to be we'd be lucky to get out with a two goal defeat.

It was the same v Chelsea

It really wasn’t. When we played Chelsea everyone knew it would be one struggling side against another. Chelsea were also below us in the table and still is.

Villa are one point off the top of the table and 11 points clear of us. They are one of the top sides in the league.

It’s not at all the same situation as vs. Chelsea.

I was talking about the odds.

Although seen as you mention it - the matchday thread was also heavily assuming Chelsea would beat us.

Varane would be blowing after 20 mins

We have a team more than capable of getting a win today but we need to change our approach - and I don’t see it happening.

If ETH persists with this on CDM then I suspect Villa will win the game comfortablY as they are a good side.
Heavy defeat and I think the noise around ETH gets too much.

Hojlund scored today and we win 2-1 today

    Start of the new Era.

Would not be surprised to see us put in our best performance of the season tonight.

Everyone’s playing for their futures so they might actually put some effort in today.

    Onana
    AWB Varane Kambwala Shaw
    Mainoo Amrabat Eriksen
    Bruno Hojlund Rashford

This, I suppose. Is Dalot available? AWB is just too wayward, and cannot give us anything as a playing team. His one-on-one work is overrated, as his positional play is dreadful. He's a daydreaming player, lacking focus. A Crystal Palace player.

Is Daniel Radcliffe meant to be at the match today?

Goes to Nice regularly from what I understand

Villa are the 2nd highest scoring team in the PL this season, with 38 goals.
More than Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs.

We are one of the worst scoring teams this season, with only 18 goals.
We’re on a par with the bottom 4 or 5 clubs in the table. The teams staring relegation in the face.

Defensively, we’re pretty even, having only conceded one more goal than Villa.

This game will be decided by
    our continuing inability, to score.

Not fancying us to win this one either. Think a 0-0 draw could be on the cards again.

With Eriksen, Amrabat and Mainoo available, playing McTominay should be sackable offence.

Villa are just the worst type of team we could play against at the moment....

I say you chaps up the front, any chance of putting the round thing in the onion bag tonight? Their's, not our's of course!
    Tally ho!!

Whoever plays, it'll be a dreadful game.

Villa will have the possession, they will be playing full of confidence against a poor side.

McTominay has actually scored a few past us in last two seasons so if you're going to low block and get set pieces that might not be a bad strategy as we don't have endless height in our team.

I'm expecting Eriksen to get an hour so reckon your midfield will be Amrabat, Eriksen, McTominay with Fernandes out wide. Mainoo given a breather after the error the other day.

If you stick Varane in aswell that's a tougher team to beat than others you've put out in the last month I reckon.
