He should’ve gone for goal, Mason doesn’t work hard enough to get close to him, sort of neither shot nor passes it in the end.
Solid half though, much better than last week, Villa have had chances but we have as well.

Well at least the team started to work better for the last 10-15 mins of the half to stop the villa chances keep occurring. We had two really good ones near the end to get us 2-0 up but were frustratingly wasted, players in space to shoot but we leave it too late to play them in.

Good goal but still not good enough. We’re being outplayed by every single team we face.

The pressure, width and passing forward has been so much better.

If you can't see that you either aren't watching the match or you're simply blind.
True. If we stop gifting chances, we would just be so much better. How many mispasses we had them coming at us directly.

Rashford has been much improved but feck me that last bit. The first two touches he could’ve passed to Greenwood but then he waits until the angle favours a shot to then try and pass it? Ffs.
from the side on view greenwood is always behind the defender, an angle never appeared for a clear pass

Open match with good chances to both teams. Villa has been the best team overall though.

Much better than recent performances but there's still lots of mistakes in there both in attack and defence. Surprised that Aston Villa didn't equalise but it looks like it's coming for sure... expect this one to go to extra time.

Good last 10 minutes of the half. More of the same. I like the width from Rashford and Greenwood, just need better consistency in our passing execution from everyone. This is much better IMO than most of the 4222 games where we looked useless. Obviously need to do a lot better defensively and stop the careless giveaways, and far from good overall... But steps to work with.

I wonder if all these team meetings ended up in going back in the old tactics of long balls to rashford?

Really agree with other posters saying that i can't see whats happening, on the other hand its better today then other games.

How can Mctomminay play like this and then around two levels below the next game? If he maintained this he'd be a beast.

Commentators pushing hard with the "United ahead but Villa with all the chances" narrative.

We'll just ignore the fact that United have had 13 shots to their 7 shall we? 7 on target to their 2 as well.

Rashford shows that he is not top tier. That should have been first ball to greenwood and would have finished as greenwood has finishing ability on both feet. Rashford took extra touches (2) and ruined the chance.

Tuned in just a couple of mins ago and saw some really good play. Rashford's pace gives us lots of options, and he played a great ball to Cavani for the Bruno shot as well.

Not too upset with him for that last one.

one thing for sure is we look so much more at home in the 4231 stretching the pitch wide

Decent tbh. That last 15-20 mins of the half was up there with the best we've played this season. Missed a couple sitters but if we carry on like this second half we'll put the game to bed.

Cavani's off the ball work is incredible.
    Dalot's been good
Attack looks a lot more fluid and direct.
    Pressed them well in parts.

    Some positives to take.

I'd like to see what happens if Rashy can get a goal, hopefully it may stop him being so selfish. Then again it may make him worse...

We started and finished the half well. However, everything in between was very iffy.

There's been some outrageously bad short passing from us at moments. The decision making in the final third has also been very disappointing.

No idea what's happened to Rashford. Supposedly playing in his favourite position and looking like he's never done it before.

Our attacking players are all so off the boil it`s mindfecking. At least we move the ball around a bit quicker now, actually creating a decent amount of chances

Loving the energy. We haven't executed a proper press in years.
People need to lower their expectations a bit. At least we're playing with some ideas in mind.

Our team has talented footballers who are prone to making terrible decisions. Bruno, Greenwood and Rashford have all done some good things on the pitch tonight, yet at the crucial moment they lose their heads and shoot when they should be passing

forget all of this, we’re shite

Decent first half... at least in the context of our form. Rashford is dreadful. Again.

Get Rashford off. Should never have started anyway and just proved yet again its all about him. Selfish
