I hope people can now stop saying we're clear favourites to win the EL.

eh. its beed a bad spell of 20 or so minutes, i hardly think its the conclusive evidence for whether we are favorites to win the europa or not

Absolutely shambolic. Defense all over the place, no protection from the midfield, resorting to long balls, conceding a chance every couple of minutes. Good job their finishing has been so poor.

    Change it Jose.

Woodie, get in that fecking jet of yours, zip down to Monaco and don't return until you got Fabinho as a carry-on.

Valencia has no help down that side, Lingard should come in for Mata.
Decent shout, but I'd have Lingard in for Felli and move Mata central. We are getting worked down our right. Ander is trying to do the work of two men, and Tony V is having a rough time as well.

That was one garbage first half performance, the lack of composure was staggering. St Etienne playing as if it's a World Cup Final but that doesn't excuse that performance. Fellaini and Baily in particular looking horrendous at times. Valencia all over the shop , don't think Mourinho will be too happy. Very very lucky to be leading. Think we'll need a three goal lead because away to these lot in that atmosphere 3 days before a Cup Final will be a serious test.

    Awful stuff.

Etienne are physically strong and fast so Mata and Fellani are being completely bypassed.
Bailly has had a nightmare despite some good last ditch stuff.
Zlatan scored the worst frekick ever, missed a open goal and can't trap a bag of sand at the moment.

Martial and Pogba the only two players to look good.

Pogba, Martial, Mata, Romero. These lads have done ok at most, yet are our best performers so far.

I think it was FM09 Bojan had a £4m release clause. You could get Aguero for £20m too. I had both and I was indestructible with Fiorentina.
Ahh those were the days. Wasted many hours playing those two particular editions of FM.

Mourinho needs to stop pissing off down the tunnel a couple of minutes before the whistle.

One of thesedays it's going to backfire and he starts a team talk based on the wrong scoreline.

"1-0, good half lads... - what do you mean 1-1?! Feck off!"

He only does that when we are very poor. Usually with a hint of disgust on his face

We need at least one more goal. It will be a tough away game in front of electric atmosphere and anything can happen there.

I've said this several times already: the EL is very very difficult to win and lets not forget, St Ett are not close to being the best team in the EL.
When we meet some of the better teams, we'll get beaten fairly easily, I think.

Yeah, it surprised me to read the confidence some of our fans displayed. Confidence or stupidity ? The line can be thin between the two.

Should play a tighter game now and make changes in midfield.

Just watch Bayern passing vs arsenal yesterday and ours today. Our ball circulation strategy is non existent.

Some of the overreaction... bloody hell

We haven't been great but we are actually winning you know.

Decent shout, but I'd have Lingard in for Felli and move Mata central. We are getting worked down our right. Ander is trying to do the work of two men, and Tony V is having a rough time as well.

Yep and Herrera is doing it but shame those two men are Laurel and Hardie.

We had some good games in EL so one bad half today doesn't mean we don't have a shot. A long shot tho, true.

So much negativity here after that, it doesn't surprise me any more.

All it takes is half a brain to realise that Mourinho set up sacrificing Carrick for a more attack minded Fellaini because he and probably most of Europe thought the French would come here and defend.

If he had started with an extra holding midfielder and they sat back, it would have been a pointless move.

You'll see a simple tactic switch at half time, probably the introduction of a defensive mid for Fellaini

This bang average dross can't handle someone pressing them, simple as that. Imagine going against the likes of Bayern. Not that we're going to meet them anytime soon.

The problem isn't the midfield (except for Fellaini who looks embarrassingly out of his depth). It's the right side of our defence, Valencia and Bailly are both having shockers.

That has always been the case for ever in Europe. English clubs, including us have seen this again and again. In Europe teams always play so much better with ball, usually their individual qualities tend to be poorer but their teams tend to be more functional.

Etienne are pretty much kick and rush and have been punting the ball down the middle?

I hope people can now stop saying we're clear favourites to win the EL.

MUFC will continue to delude themselves into believing this.
Even if we get knocked out by St Ett and next year we are back in the EL, many fans will claim (once again), that we can win the EL easily.
Some people never learn, no matter how many lessons they are taught.

Pretty poor defensive display so far, especially in the last 15 minutes or so. Valencia is having a surprisingly poor game (in terms of defensive positioning), whereas Bailly and Smalling are yet to form some much-needed understanding between each other.

There's also a big gap between our central defense and our midfield and Ander can't really deal with it on his own. He needs help, which raises the question - what exactly is Fellaini's role tonight? His presence seems a bit pointless, especially considering our current problems.

Valencia has no help down that side, Lingard should come in for Mata.
Nothing to do with help. It's not like he's being caught out in 1 v 1's. He's just being caught out of position. All their threat is coming down that side.

Glad to be in front, but that first half was very poor overall. Fellaini has been our worst player, he seems to genuinely believe we are playing in green. Bailly looks off it too, some uncharacteristic lapses from him that luckily went unpunished. Really missing Mkhi. Get the hairdryer out, Jose.

I have no problem with Fellaini playing when he is close to the back 4 but when he is out there, making a parody of a support player to Ibra :wenger: ? Wtf do managers see in him when they ask him to play so advanced ?
