First up, apologies to @Penna, cos I'm about to break all her rules. Haven't read the thread. Apologies, too, if I am rethreading a well worn path. Watched the game with ABU's. cnutish ref. We played with heart. Nobody can fault the team for heart and for a good modiucum of half-decent football, but the tie was decided on a stupid mistake, and f**k it, s***t happens. Can't wait for May when we wallop those North London ****s. I will be there for that game, as close as possible to the Stretford End. Enjoy your cup run, you *****************s.

Half time subs were shocking, had no momentum following that. Reduced the midfield to pensioner pace. Pure shite.
If Valencia doesn't back pass we've shored up the defense and then get to hit them on the counter. But then Valencia and Jones decided to give a goal to Welbeck for his welcome home present.

    Good post.

The worse thing about this is the papers tomorrow. No doubt sticking it to us about Welbz - who wouldn't have scored had it not been for Valencia being an idiot. If I were in charge of payroll, both Valencia and DiMaria would be fined one month's wages.

fed up with people saying we need to rebuild: we dont need time to pass forward and threaten teams at home

Shearer is far worse than Wright. Shearer spouts pure shite just for the fun of it. He obviously hates United as well.

Shearer regrets the fact he didn't join United. He can say he doesn't regret it because he played for his boyhood club blah blah blah but trophies count, and he would have won shedloads with United and he knows it.

    feck off.
Shocking from Valencia. Thought he started ok but honestly what a brainfart. That's the problem with most of our players, they haven't got any common sense. And why did Di Maria do that? That's crazy. Player's individuals mistakes have cost us. Don't want to hear anything about substitutions or formations. This was done to the players. End of.

We have so many brain dead players. Decent players who will never be great because there's always a big mistake in them.

awful game, awful management. looked as if Arsenal wanted it more.
the amount of bad passes is ridiculous.

Nice post, we should start a thread to decide what "*****************s" is!

We'll never win any trophies with three quarters of our defence made up of drooling imbeciles.

Jones, Smalling and Valencia don't have a brain cell to share between them.

How did welbeck celebrate? Missed it :(
He went for it that's for sure. The little fecker. Don't care, think it was taking the piss a bit. He's still shit.

We don't have a squad for a top 4 finish despite spending over 200 million in nearly 2 seasons. Getting knocked out of the FA cup may give us a chance of top 4 but I wouldn't bet on it. This all boils down to Fergie getting it horribly wrong with Moyes. Van Gaal will make us much stronger in the summer and he must be given time but if a club the size of man utd is willing to take a massive gamble on a manager like Moyes then we simply have to face the consequences of the damage. without champions league football then Van Gaal found it very hard to land the players he needed. We won't have top 4 at the end of this season again but Van Gaal absolutely will strengthen the team no end coem the summer

Not happy one bit about Welbeck celebrating. All the pundits saying he was right. Have they heard about respect?

I agree it would have been different had Valencia not fecked up so badly, but i don't agree that the subs didn't change things. Carrick makes everything inherently slower. At least Herrera's first thought it always to go forward and try something. Sure, it can result in feck ups but if you don't take risks you don't make goals. I felt we gave away our momentum with the subs.

People in this thread going on about Januzaj diving are clearly not watching the game properly and are more focussed on posting in this thread.

Watch the game properly, Januzaj running full speed, his heavy touch knocks the ball too far and he goes down.

He wasn't diving he just brought himself to a stop, he didn't appeal, got straight back up and only noticed what was going on when Oliver blew up and started to get the yellow card out, which is exactly why he was protesting so much.

Concentrate on the game more and stop going along with what the commentators say for once.

I don't know why he replaced Herrera and Shaw, maybe injuries ?
And for me Fellaini was useless all game long.
I never like the Fellaini signing because I didn't think he suit Manchester United. I still think that's the case. To his credit, at least he gets involved in a match. Too many players float in this team.

The first goal was outrageous. how many times does it have to happen before one of the players (in this case Di Maria and to a lesser extent Smalling) picks up an opponent who is wide open in from their goal. Di Maria saw him but was too lazy to mark him. first strike against him. Smalling should have tracked him back because Valencia already took his spot at CB. Is it too much to ask to pick up the loose man? I confirmed two things on that play. One, Smalling is an idiot. Two, Di Maria is a lazy bastard.

Further observations on Smalling. You can't trust him on the ball. He has time and space and still he bobbles it and gives it away. this happens time and time again. He has to go.

As for David de Gea, sign him ASAP.

Our downfall was due to a back fecking pass. The irony is overwhelming.
I don't think players are taught to 'back pass' in that kind of situation. You have to use your brain and have some common sense. Why do it in that position? It's stupid. Do you honestly think a coach teaches players to do that? Like everything else, you need to pick your moments and Valencia and Jones didn't.

It'll be OK if we beat them to the to 4. If.

No it isn't. We didn't play with heart or with any sort of desire after being down to 10 men. Didn't create any half chances apart from the goal either.

    Disappointing.
That's the way you see it.

What?? So why fall down? Why not come to a halt and turn around?

I disagree, I think with that sub (Carrick for Herrera) we've cut off the main attack point for Arsenal. EVERYTHING they did came from that side, and with Carrick being more stout there they had nothing going. I'm very confident we would of grabbed a goal and seen out the game had that stupid play not happen. You can't account for that kind of mistake.

Rubbish, 4.5 minutes into 5 minutes of extra time and Fellaini receives the ball in midfield with all the United players running goalwards and he doesn't even think of seeing who's available forward … he passes back to the loan defender who has 3 Arsenal players rushing him!

I didn't think he dived. funny thing, when Welbeck when down easy in the first half, the ref just let play go on. I guess that wasn't considered embellishment.

I was okay with the ref until he decided not to give Bellerin a second yellow and then decided to not show the same leniency the other way. I don't mind the ref being forgiven, but at least he should grant it to both sides.

Smalling has no leadership whatsoever. He has to take charge there. Demand Di Maria takes Monreal and go and sort the danger. He does neither.

Yes Di Maria should see him and track but even the most defensive wingers don't track every run. IMO it is up to the defensive system to tale charge and Smalling should be the most vocal back there. Native speaker and hardly inexperienced. He did neither.

Di Maria isn't lazy, he just messed up there.

Exactly. Any other club wouldn't have sold him to our direct rivals as well. We agreed to that. We gave him what he wanted and then he celebrates like that.

Him, Welbeck and Murphy … now I'm going to have to get drunk!
