Di Maria is constantly losing the ball in the most dangerous areas possible. He's going to cost us on one of their breaks if we don't move him off that wing. He's also not helping Valencia out, which is why he is looking so sloppy positionally - he's trying to do the work of two men defensively.

Smalling ran off to the right hand touchline, in front of Valencia. Are you saying Valencia supposed to stay in RB position? Don't see how that could possibly make sense. He shouldn't have closed down on the edge of the box without being sure he'd get the ball, but the reason he was out of position was that he was covering... don't think it's entirely down to him (though he did make a mistake by closing down after covering Smalling).
