Im nervous about this one, only because the plastic implosion afterwards if we dont win will be soul sapping. I can see progress being made under Ten Hag though and even if we dont win I know we are on the right track.
    Classic ramshock.

    Match them:

    Sancho - Martinelli
    Rashford - Jesus
    Antony - Saka

    Bruno - Odegaard
    McTominay - Xhaka
    Casemiro - Lokonga

    Malacia - Tierney
    Martinez - Gabriel
    Varane - Saliba
    Dalot - White

    De Gea - Ramsdale
If only the outcome was decided by just matching the teams on paper we would be loaded with trophies in the last 10 years.

Absolutely, I won’t be logging in if we lose.

Concerned about the Martinelli/Dalot match-up but equally encouraged by the potential Sancho/White one.

I think he will drop Elanga and play Bruno in a front 3, but I'd love to see him play Antony though know I know it's unlikely due to match fitness. I can't decide whether to drop Bruno or Eriksen, both offer something different. Also, I think Scott did well last game, so I think he will start as I think Ten Hag will want to beat Arsenal physically. Deffo gonna see tackles flying in today!

    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro McTominay
    Eriksen
    Bruno Rashford Sancho

Feel like when you've got a player like Bruno who should be key in those critical moments when it comes to attacks, but is just quite simply a liability with the ball due to misplacing passes, not making the right pass, wasting chances, it does create quite the issue.

Hopefully he's at it today. They all need to be.
I watched Paqueta at Chelsea yesterday and the whole time I was thinking "this is exactly what we expected Bruno to be." Immense work rate (looked like he covered every blade of grass on the pitch), rarely gave the ball away, kept it simple but very effective. No stupid hollywood pass attempts with 0% chance of success, no ridiculous shot attempts with 0% chance of success. No unnecessary shouting, sulking or arguing with refs. Just got on with his business and delivered a great performance. He played like both a 3rd CM and an attacking midfielder when West Ham needed it. That is the standard expected of a 10 at the highest level.

Far as i'm concerned Bruno is the next guy whose place needs to be under threat. He is not offering nearly enough to be an undroppable and plays in too critical a position for the team for him to be allowed to be consistently below par. Keeps doing the same terrible things and that is why he never delivers in the biggest games. Today is another opportunity for him to show he has improved. A big game against a top 6 side in form. Lets see what he'll do.

Antony to come on for the last 30 minutes.

White is quick on his feet for a big man and Sancho is the slowest winger in the league and never takes anybody on.

So you want to leave out our only midfielder who is capable of keep the passing going from midfield and is able to connect midfield to attack especially when Arsenal are pretty weak in midfield themselves. I would argue that Eriksen is a must against them. We must seize this opportunity and control that midfield battle. Bruno is always too far up the pitch and if we start Casemiro and Mctominay together, that would leave a hole in the centre and they will be able get hold of the game from the middle and start building their attacks. We need to break their fluidity by cutting off their tempo and try to isolate their attacking players. Eriksen is also very important for us during the transition which we have been very good at till now.
We'd really need legs today. Eriksen simply can't play two matches in three days.
Also, Ronaldo needs to start. As much as he’s been a cry baby during the whole window. He’s here now and we need to utilise him especially in the absence of Martial. He’s a far better option than Rashford upfront. Rashford from the middle just doesn’t work. And if Antony doesn’t start which I don’t think he will then we have to start with Rashford, Ronaldo and Sancho. It’s our best possible attack for this game. We can’t start Rashford up front and Elanga on the wings again.
It's not because he's crybaby but because he's been shit in the big matches. Give me a big match he was not. It was like playing with 10 men. I'd rather have Elanga. He's crap too but at least he can and will run and press.

They are still toothless, could and should have been far better in the turnovers of play vs Leicester

Yeah and definitely concerned we haven't got that progressive quick passing CM until at least January more likely summer

Why can't Eriksen play two matches in three days? I have seen that a lot lately and I don't get what it's based on.

The concern for me is him visibly tiring in the second half of matches he played so far. Same for Sancho, where it's even more surprising

I know Rashford has done a lot of good work off the field but matching him up with Jesus? Isn't that a bit too much?

Arsenal are playing well. We’ll have to match the energy and desire on display against Liverpool to get something out of this. No fecking around, let them know they’re in a game from the off and punish their mistakes

Watching him. He's hardly visible in most games apart from set pieces and gets run around in midfield to the point that he makes McTominay look solid.

So you think that a player that has been significantly more involved than McTominay in our games, as covered more grounds than anyone in our team is hardly visible?

In the case of Eriksen it's because he is the one doing the most running, it's not that he has a stamina issue.

he’s covered more distance than any other united player this season though

edit: just seen the above post

Surely cannot miss the opportunity to introduce your new expensive signing at home against a rival. It would be a massive lift to everyone in the stadium and on the field.

For that reason alone, I prefer he gets subbed on rather than start.

If only the outcome was decided by just matching the teams on paper we would be loaded with trophies in the last 10 years.
Oh no! That’s not right. But we probably would have had a cup or two.

Loads of people saying this. I can’t understand why.

For his aggression and energy, and short form to some degree.

I don't rate him but he has his use. Eriksen and Bruno alongside Casemiro just feels unbalanced.

He gets on the ball and passes it a lot more than McT. If we have Cas at 6, there’s no major problem with Eriksen at 8.

He always scores against Arsenal. Scored 2 against them at old Trafford last season and then scored at the emirates too.
Scored home and away against spurs including a hattrick at old Trafford.
Scored against Chelsea at old Trafford.
Forgot all of these goals ?

Yeah, I don’t get it either.

I think McT with Cas looks very unbalanced. It’s just a more solid, more refined McFred. We need more passing and technique in there. Eriksen isn’t perfect but is a better foil for Cas.
