With how measured Ten Hag is, very small chance Antony gets thrown in with how little he's trained. Hopeful he can be a very useful impact sub towards the end.

Feels like the biggest United vs Arsenal game for a while.

Hope ten hag has watched our old games.

If we cant outplay them, kick them off the park.

Feels like the biggest United vs Arsenal game for a while.

It's only because they have become relevant for a change albeit early stage of the season.

This time last season I think they were 19th in the table.

Im nervous about this one, only because the plastic implosion afterwards if we dont win will be soul sapping. I can see progress being made under Ten Hag though and even if we dont win I know we are on the right track.

You never like to exaggerate the importance of individual matches. But ever so often there comes matches which are mini crossroads.

Todays game is one of those.

Think Antony and Casemiro both come in for McTominay and Elanga today.

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Eriksen Casemiro Bruno
    Antony Rashford Sancho

    DDG
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Mctominay Casemiro
    Sancho Eriksen Bruno
    Ronaldo

Don't want Rashford anywhere near our starting XI. Let him and Antony come on as impact sub with half an hour to go.
2-1 United. Bruno and A late Antony goal

I went for 2-1 to us. Now I’m starting to think more like 1-0. Think we’ll continue the tight ship and probably score once.

For some reason the goals are not racking up as they should but I think we could evolve into quite a prolific team if we can get the front players into form.

So 1-0 or, if lucky, 2-0.

Rashfords quality is lacking so much I feel hed get eaten by Saliba. Would really want Ronaldo down the middle.

No way he will start. Casemiro had a full pre-season and played recently and yet, ETH decided to ease him in gradually.

Plus he hasn't played for a few weeks now, after going on strike.

At best he will be a sub with 20mins to go.
My actual belief is that Casemiro being eased in isn’t actually just about fitness and time to bed in. It’s actually to do with how this side played VS Liverpool. It sends the wrong message after a performance like that to pull someone out of the side. If we hadn’t played well that day he would have been in at least a game sooner. Today is the perfect day to start him though.

Antony won’t start - for exactly the same reasons. But this time also, preparation is actually a factor.

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Eriksen Casemiro
    Elanga Bruno Sancho
    Ronaldo

Antony and Rashford coming on in the 2nd half

    I feel the opposite.

If we win, great. We'll have beaten one of the other contenders for top four. But at the same time it's still very early in the season and it's still just Arsenal, in their first proper test of the season. And as with Liverpool, the approach we take against them might not be the most representative in terms of how we hope to develop generally.

If we lose, that sucks. But it will have been to a relatively strong team who are a lot further along in their development than us and we'll still be in a relatively fine position. No major worry.

So less a significant crossroad and more a game to just enjoy and not read into too much afterwards.

I see us winning this. We're at home so the intensity and fight will surely be there and we are Arsenals first big hurdle. Besides, I would always back ETH in a big match. He thrives in those.

Don't mind me. Whisky is beginning to affect me.

And that loss was one of the few games last season when I thought we were very unlucky. Two very marginal offside calls went against us and we missed a penalty. They scored their second against the run of play and one of their goals could have been ruled out

I would ideally drop Bruno and play a midfield 3 of Casemiro, McT and Eriksen, but that’s unlikely to happen so maybe start Bruno out wide?

I would like to see Anthony start but in the absence of that go with Bruno on one side and Sancho on the other.

Completely agree. Progress is rarely linear, there are going to be some bumps, backwards steps and losses to plucky underdogs like Arsenal along the way. Just need everybody to remember that.

Im worried he will be stubborn with Rashford/Elanga etc. We need Casemiro, Antony and Ronaldo for this type of game regardless of fitness.

Personally i would even keep McTominay and drop Bruno despite the odd goal he hasn't been great either can't keep losing the ball in transition.

Just please don't lose to these feckers.

And I would take a half-fit Antony over Elanga any day.

You will need Elanga to press/nullify Martinelli, their biggest threat. Both are rapid players. Dalot will need help on the right.

Antony hasn't played a match in 3 weeks. So he wont be match fit to help out on Martinelli.

Saliba is eating no one. I don’t get how he is hyped to such an elite level already. Arsenal fans have somehow convinced some rival fans too the he is a crossover of Rio Ferdinand and Marcel desailly.

The only 2 teams that have not had a draw in the league to face off. Seems inevitable :nervous:

Both Casemiro and Ronaldo will start today probably. I think Antony will be an impact sub. Elanga and McTominay get dropped. I reckon he will opt for familiarity with international team mates fred and casemiro playing in the centre.

OR I’m gonna be completely off the mark :nervous:

    Match them:

    Sancho - Martinelli
    Rashford - Jesus
    Antony - Saka

    Bruno - Odegaard
    McTominay - Xhaka
    Casemiro - Lokonga

    Malacia - Tierney
    Martinez - Gabriel
    Varane - Saliba
    Dalot - White

    De Gea - Ramsdale

You dont need to hype a center back to say hed nullfiy Rashford, to be fair.
