Playing with both Fred and McTominay today is like playing with half a player short.Absolute shite so far...awful to watch
I thought in Europe he was more about sharp passing than hitting on the break.
We’re playing a diamond today?Partey is a steal for Arsenal. Has been excellent - would have been excellent for us.We've just been so slow and pedestrian again. This is the sort of game which why I don't go over the top with the Fred praise.

There's no forward option so who can he pass to? He does the triangles to give players time to move up the pitch.I liked what I'd seen of the diamond until now, it gets key players in to their best position and theory gives an opportunity to put more creative players in the side than the 4-2-3-1 (where the Fred and McTominay axis is so safe and so limited), but it really hasn't worked today. Telles for Shaw in the coming games will be an improvement but we just aren't having enough of the ball and certainly high up the field, I'm not sure if a chance in midfield might help that to some extent.
It's disappointing that giving up most of the territory and the ball and looking to counter is our approach to every game against a half decent side now but it's been the case for more than 4 years.In games like this you need a flair player to move forward with the ball and commit the oppositon. Rashford and greenwood are playing with their backs to goal, we need to get on the front foot, afterall we are home and need the points

Greenwood also needs to do a far better job holding up the ball. They know his touch when receiving with his back to goal can be suspect so they've stuck a CB on him every time he comes deep and it just bounces off him.I cant believe ole sat on his ass for 45minutes and watched that play out.Cavani for Pogba and Matic for Fred
4-3-3 for meReally frustrating half. Was just getting worse as it went. The inability to string passed together was infuriating, and it felt like every time we did get the ball forward, it was offside. Don't think it's a formation issue rather a player issue but change whatever needs to be done as that was shocking and I can only see an Arsenal win if the second half is like that.
I would certainly agree with that assessment.I like the diamond, but this shows that we need better options in the fullback areas if we're going to seriously use it more often. Our back four are so flat that we're not getting the fullbacks forward to create width. We just look narrow. Then you've got players like Pogba and Fernandes having to move out of position or drop back to get onto the ball, etc.
In short, we need our defence to be a bit more than just a wall.

I get that, however, he has shown composure on the ball, the shape that has been adopted to accommodate both him and Bruno isn't working because McT is drifting into the middle.All 4 midfielders playing poor and the diamond highlights how bad our fullbacks are on the ball.Currently, it's 5 vs 4 in midfield in favor for Arsenal and it show we are getting nowhere without playing a long ball and their three CBs so far have a pretty good grip on our two strikers.
Consider changing to a 352 in the second half as well by brining telles for Fred who is going to get sent off if he keeps playing like that and go with

Disagree. Look at his zoning and marking of the runners. He's been almost flawless.And so many thought this was gonna be easy. The OTHER United on shift. So inconsistent.Our gameplan against most teams is to absorb pressure and counterattack. We are doing exactly what the team is trained to do.
Hardly. Arsenal's lack of finishing is keeping us in the game. Fred is one foul away from a red card and McTominay looks completely lost out there.
