If we still have a defence of Jones, Mctominay and Matic then we don't have a hope.

The board, the players and mourinho are taking the piss if they are letting this go on the entire season. I'm not in as much a hurry to get rid of mourinho as others are. They all just need to come to a solution. Either the players and the board back mourinho 100% and work their socks off. Or they sack him and get on with it. I'm just sick of watching this team playing half arsed for 75% of the match

I dont think the players are deliberately underperforming, most of them anyway. I just think they're unhappy and unclear about what they're being asked to do, which is causing them to underperform.

Even under Moyes, we beat them at OT. We will win today.

We're gonna get seriously hammered tonight.
You would think looking at recent performances of both but for whatever reason these seem to be the games where we manage to stifle the other team and steal a point.

If they play anything like they did against Spurs it could get messy quite quickly.

We were playing Wenger, which is as close to a guaranteed win you can get. This Arsenal is a different beast. We won’t get close to them. 2-0 Arsenal.

I'd take a loss if it meant Jose was sacked in the morning.

We're gonna lose anyway, something good might as well come of it.

My wife - unaware that there's a United game on tonight - suggested we go see Wreck it Ralph 2 tonight.

    I'm tempted...

I have a feeling we will win this. We have a habit of just about doing enough to avoid total collapse and in turn ensure the manager clings on for a few more months. Win vs Arsenal after going behind, followed by a bore draw vs Fulham

Very difficult to predict a line-up given Jose's baffling selections. I suspect he will go for a similar line-up as Saturday, with his underperforming golden geese getting a start, a midfield thaf lacks composure and legs, in addition to hoof ball players.

My preferred line-up is as follows:

    De Gea
    Dalot, Jones, Matic, Shaw

    Fred, Perreira, Pogba

    Lingaard, Rashford, Martial

    Bench
Romero, Young, Herrera, Rojo, Mata, Fellani, Greenwood

I will be watching this game from the stands with my son. God help me please and let it be a win/draw for UTD but not a hammering please.....

    Confirmed United squad members
David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Fred, Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku

    Confirmed absentees

Victor Lindelof (thigh), Alexis Sanchez (hamstring), Ashley Young (suspended)

Just Luke Shaw to be accounted for one way or another.

Is that from an official site?

    Jones?

    If he’s already injured himself.

Rather think we will field a back four of Dalot-Darmian-Rojo-Young. Jose has only one fit CB in Rojo and will probably consider Darmian at CB since he has already made Herrera, Matic and McTominay play there...

It won't be a hammering for sure. United will find a way to win at OT, don't worry. If this was at Emirates, I'd have said Arsenal will probably win, but it's not happening at OT. We last won there in 2006 and in the meantime failed to beat you lot even under LVG and Moyes.

I will be staggered. We might have to field a defense of:

    --- Rojo --- Matic --- McTominay --- Dalot

SMalling, Rojo & Bailly are in the squad, most likely they will start at CB with Darmian on the right and Dalot/Rojo on the left.

Blue quotes from Jose regarding the player above

    PhysioRoom has the following:

    Late Fitness Test

    L Shaw - Knock
    P Jones - Knock
    A Valencia - Knock
    E Bailly - Back
    C Smalling - Foot
    M Rashford - Muscle Fatigue
Jose: "Rashford Fatigue, he was injured, he was asking to come out. It was not that kind of injury, but Marcus, I am pretty sure will be fine for the next one."
    M Darmian - Knock
Jose: "Darmian Has "a little [problem]."

    Long Term Injured
    A Sanchez - Hamstring Injury
Jose: "Sanchez has an important injury. I don’t want to risk by saying for how long, but from the top of my experience, I would say he’s not playing [again] this year."
    V Lindelof - Hamstring Injury
Jose: "I hope that Lindelof can play Christmas time. I would say three weeks, something like that"

Hopefully Jose will be gone before Sanchez comes back.

To put things into perspective, we have a GD of -1 when we had 2 fully fit CBs. Aubameyang will have a field day with our crocked/make-shift defense.

It's from the M.E.N. they are at the hotel at OT cricket ground not the Lowry. They stalk the players and see who goes into the hotel.

Yeah, it's just they don't mention Phil Jones or Luke Shaw. That's why I was confused. I didn't see him in any of the photos so no idea if he's there or not. Applying the PhysioRoom list of knocks to the squad you get the following. Blue players = late fitness test

Ok, so here’s a few questions:

Do people think this Arsenal team is currently better than Juventus?

Do people think that this Arsenal team would have also beaten Juventus away?

In my opinion, the answer is no to both. And that’s the only hope I have of us getting something out of the game tonight.

We can grind out a win even against better opposition, whereas I don’t know if I can say the same for Arsenal.

I’m not saying we will win, but I think a lot of people who are predicting that we are going to get hammered are overreacting a bit here.

With no defenders, a dysfunctional midfield, and an attack that doesn't know where the goal is, I can't say I'm feeling confident about this one.

I think we'll most likely see a similar formation to Southampton - Jose probably wants to have the third centre back in there to balance the fact that players are being played out of position. Fellaini will probably start as well, partly because the extra height will be useful defensively, and partly because we may not have a lot of the ball so our best offensive opprotunities may come from being direct and from set pieces.

I guess we'll also find out just how much of a virus Jose thinks Pogba is. He seems to have been playing down the comments rather than reinforcing them, so my guess is that Pogba will play (it would make one hell of a statement to leave him out in these circumstances).

So, a 3-1 defeat unfortunately, and hopefully a new manager for Christmas.

What kind of logic is that? You could easily turn around and say that Arsenal were much better at the weekend than the team that battered us at Old Trafford in August.

It probably won't be a thrashing but predicting one isn't outlandish at all.

    Counter point.

Do you think this Arsenal team is currently better than Southampton? Better than West Ham? Better than Brighton? Better than Spurs?

Pointless game for us, even if we win I can see us dropping points to Fulham at the weekend and getting battered by the bin dippers the following week. Only thing is if we get hammered tonight he will surely have to be sacked?

Do people think this Arsenal team is currently better than Juventus?
No, but we got insanely lucky against Juventus. It was a poor performance from us.

Do people think that this Arsenal team would have also beaten Juventus away?
Hard to say, in the same circumstances of Juventus being pretty much through and playing with their food then perhaps. Arsenal are a bit more resilient this season.

I think the result tonight depends on two things. Our starting lineup and how drained Arsenal are after their derby. We do tend to perform better against the bigger clubs but Arsenal are on the back of a great result against Spurs and we're rebounding after three poor performances in a row. I just don't think we're good enough this season and have rode our luck in many games, eventually our luck will run out and we'll get smashed up. Tonight is that game imo.

A higher percentage predicted a win against City, in fact.
Probably because that was after we won at Juve giving us a bit more confidence for a better result there.

Don't think this will get too ugly, but I've come to expect nothing from United of late so I'll be going for a defeat by 1 goal.

Mourinho has a habit of pulling great results out of nowhere when all seems against him. He's at his best when he's cornered. But having said that, I reckon this one is beyond him and might end up being be one defeat too far. Lose this and you're likely to be a good 11 points off the top four before Christmas, and with the January window coming I think the board might finally be forced to act.

As for the game itself, Aubameyang to either get a hat-trick in a 4-1 win or a brace in a 3-1 win. If it's humiliating enough Mourinho might just be forced out of the door.

Well that’s not the same is it?

I used Juventus as an example due to the fact that they are a much better team than us, one of the best in the world in fact. The teams you’ve mentioned there are not.

My point was that I feel we can beat better teams than us, as illogical as that may be, whereas I don’t think we’ll be seeing Arsenal beat some of the best teams in the world like Juventus.

I dont think the players are deliberately underperforming, most of them anyway. I just think they're unhappy and unclear about what they're being asked to do, which is causing them to underperform.

This is nonsense.....they don't want to follow his instructions.....his instructions have been proven to work for decades....his inability to convince players to do it is the issue. They might be unhappy playing in his style but It's probably more not willing to put 100% effort in for someone they dislike. His instructions are not that complex. Heard all this same stuff re LVG and his instructions...."Never our Fault" could be the tagline for united players.
