but what were the really big chances, except from the Haaland miss.
Yep, they only had few real chances, Haaland and that counter attack they had 1v1 with Onana. But stat merchants will say how they should have scored 6 or some clownish shit like that.

Besides Lindelof's defending and passing being pure virus, that's been ok. We have a clear gameplan and, for the most part, it's being well executed. Just need a little more composure when we have counter attacking opportunities.

Also, maybe remove McTominay as he has been useless as well.

We need to hold the ball at least a little bit, can't keep relying on this luck lasting the whole match.

Garnacho has offered nothing in the first half. Can't hold the ball up and hasn't been any threat on the counter either.

Incredible goal from Rashford. But realistically the performance other than some good box defending has been horrific.

Can't get out, can't hold the ball, can't sustain any attacks. It's embarrassing.

Could be one of those days might get another on the break and hold out for a win or a draw.

But unless we find away of getting out more regularly and reliving pressure and carrying more threat I think city will win this, if they get one early second half they would probably get a few.
    Another embarrassing post

Wonder strike from Rashford. He somehow finds a way to turn up in the big games, it's incredible. What a goal, damn.

Sensational display from Onana so far, as well. Best half of football he's played in a United shirt. The saves, the distribution, the proactive claiming of crosses, strong punches, the composure. No matters what happens in the 2nd half - that was a 10/10 display from him for those 45 minutes.

One way traffic for 40 minutes. We have been compact and alert to citys constant threat.
superb goal by us and with a touch of luck we had chances to make it 2.
Better than expected, a tough 45 minutes to come.

We rode our luck a couple of times which was to be expected, and started quite well in terms of countering City. Unfortunately, as the game passed, we looked less threatening on the counter and City started to attack relentlessly.

Going into the second half, ten Hag needs to find a way to make us threatening on the counter again, otherwise its going to be a very long half.

Onana, Varane, Dalot, Casemiro very good.

McTominay useless. A man without use.

Shocking miss by Haaland. Truly shocking.

This is going to be a drastically different second half than I would've expected if you'd asked me this morning.

Absolute nonsense. He has been fine, what exactly are you expecting, made the joint most clearances of any player on the pitch with Varane, completed more passes than Mainoo, played one of our best passes that half to set Garnacho away down the right early on and made a great run that helped on the goal.

Feel like our shape has been better with three in the mid. who would have thought

Nearly forget to take a HT sh*t

Kind of wish HT could last a few more mins, so I can finish in the jacks and enjoy feeling like we might win…

Massive 45 minutes ahead.. this would be the worst place to lose our long, proud record of never losing when leading at half time.

Id stick with Garnacho, whilst the game is a little physical for him he is very capable of breaking away and scoring.. more so than any option on the bench. Hes worked hard too.

Haaland's XG on that howler must have been at least 0.9! Crazy but I'll take it :D

Sidenote: How the blue heck have City not managed to sell this game out?
it's City, the same City who are resorting to pimping their trophies out to Girona as nobody over here is going to their stadium to look

Looks like the goal was a fluke, he's been ridiculously poor since. City are definitely scoring a couple here, but bloody impressed we've even had a shot looking at the class difference between these sides!
A fluke? Rashford’s goal catalogue says the opposite. He’s capable of the long range spectacular.

Score should be 3-1 us. Rash has to take at least one of those chances. Sigh. But since Rash's second chance, we've stopped playing. As soon as someone gets on the ball, Garnacho/Rash has to start making the run into the channels to give us an option at least.

Not by any xG model man

Ah shit. Forgot about that. It's the only negative record Ten Hag hasn't broken yet

Would be a pretty strange place to lose a record that is only for Old Trafford, aye.

The worry for me is that the longer the half went the less threat we carried. There was one moment that summed it up where Dalot broke through the city midfield press but had literally nobody ahead of him so had to blind alley it.

Potentially 115 can rack up 40+ attempts this game, don't know what the PL record is, but must be close? That 45 min shows that it's just luck, good GK and bad finishing that means its not 4-1...there is nothing in ETH coaching that takes credit for the 1-0 HT scoreline.

Rashford has been incredibly shite but scored a nice goal so fair enough. Jonny Evans and Onana have been phenomenal, Casemiro still two seconds late in every attack. Would be surprised if we don't lose.

The wonder goal is sandwiched between terrible performances. I can see how it looks a fluke. Or maybe if City equalize, he'll switch on again and drag us ahead.
