It’s the team that’s been getting us results. Hopefully we can exploit the Ake and Akanje partnership.
You know Akanji will have the game of his life..With all the focus on Haaland, I bet some random nomark like foden will score. Especially after disappointing for England, he'll want to 'prove' himself.
They have better recovery speed than the other CBs, might make counter attacking more difficult.Akanji and Ake is certainly a CB pairing that can be exploited
Because:I don’t get why Neville tweeted that?
idiot
Fair point, Walker and those two guys is a very pacy backlineThey have better recovery speed than the other CBs, might make counter attacking more difficult.
Would be very strange for pep to make that as a tactical change. Dias and Laporte are two of the best in the league. Dias arguably the best in the league at the moment. They must not be fully fit hence on the bench.Could be tactical as well. Akanji and Ake might be how Pep reckons he'll beat our pace on the counter.
You're probably right, but it wouldn't be the first time Pep overthinks something and tries to be too cleverWould be very strange for pep to make that as a tactical change. But we don’t kill City by getting in behind their CBS, we get them by getting behind their midfield. Shouldnt really matterCity playing with 2 fast CBs to avoid getting countered.

I’ll be jumping on that bandwagon if we win .Or "We are title contenders" if we win
Even though the 2 chosen centre backs are probably quicker, I’m still delighted they are starting. Because defensive partnerships are hard to build in one game. Rashford can get in behind anyone with a high line no matter how quick. Saliba is one of the quickest in the league and he roasted him. Just needs to time his runs. You're probably right, but it wouldn't be the first time Pep overthinks something and tries to be too clever
Unfortunately they'll probably still outplay us, but it should at least mean they're a bit more vulnerable at the back.So they’ve got Dias, Laporte and Rodri all missing from their spine replaced with Akanji, Ake and Gundogan. That’s a big advantage for us hopefully!
That was hilarious. It’s as if someone did it on purpose.Sprinklers spraying Neville, Keane, Pep and Richards
Neville was fuming!
I just love the fact I don’t have that heart sinking feeling anymore when I see Maguire and Lindelof on the team sheet.I don't know how today's game will end, but I love the fact that you don't look at our team, anymore and go "none of our players would start for City".
As a matter of fact, I reckon our defense is BETTER than City's. Obviously Rashford is not 1/100th of a striker than that fecker Haaland is, but I do prefer our wingers to Graelish/Foden when Sancho and Antony are their best they can run circles around Graelish and Foden, in my opinion.
Our midfield is clearly not as good a City's, and nowhere nearly as well functioning.
That said, pound to pound, I think we have never been this close in talent and form to City, in recent years. Means nothing for who will win, but at least it's something.

Amen, a-feckin-men!I just love the fact I don’t have that heart sinking feeling anymore when I see Maguire and Lindelof on the team sheet.
I hope Akanji isn't used to facing our counter-attack with a clown like Ake beside him. I've stuck twenty on us not to lose by more than a goal.
If he’s not fit by now, there’s something wrong. Tbh I feel like he was a “club hierarchy” purchase (basically what high profile midfielders are available once the FDJ deal collapsed) rather than a player Ten Hag wanted.Very early days but it's not ideal given the concerns some of us had over the deal.
Come on now, our full-back's aren't better than theirs.I don't know how today's game will end, but I love the fact that you don't look at our team, anymore and go "none of our players would start for City".
As a matter of fact, I insist that our defense is BETTER than City's in every possible way. Up front, obviously, Rashford is not 1/100th of a striker compared to that fecker Haaland, but I do prefer our wingers to Graelish/Foden, personally. I think when Sancho and Antony are their best they can run circles around Graelish and Foden.
Our midfield is clearly not as good a City's, and nowhere nearly as well-functioning. That one we lose. But, hey, at least it's not McFred, anymore.

Rob Dawson has already reported that Casemiro was the only signing that was initiated by the recruitment team and not ETH. That’s understandable as we know ETH wanted FDJ but it wasn’t attainable. If he’s not fit by now, there’s something wrong.
