the worrying thing is that was presumably our "good" half... can't remember the last time we played well in both halves. those defending maguire here really need to take off the red-tinted specs... ask yourself whether Fergie would play him

You mean, how we've been the only team to beat Pep three times in a row at home?

I don't mean City specifically, but rather big games in general. Under Mourinho and Solskjaer, we sat so deep and so narrow, it was like watching lower league opposition in an FA Cup tie.

Nice to see us looking a little more positive and offering something to the game - even if the result doesn't go our way today, this performance had been a significant improvement on the game at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

Part of the reason they can overload us down their left is because our right flank provides 0 threat. Need Dalot and later Rashford on IMO

It was very good up until we scored. Then city took control and the usual shite of them controlling the game, winning all the 50/50s and creating chances took over.

Just fed up of city dominating us the last 5 years.

It’s just occurred to me for the first time that we really do need a 7-9 player overhaul.

    It’s really troubling and depressing.

Sure just to keep the team as good as it is it'll cost us about 70+ mil to replace Pogba who is our only player who can pass at all.

If you ever forget how bad this season has been… we could be 10 points behind Arsenal if they win their games in hand. Arsenal FFS

So much of their play goes through KDB, he's always finding spaces, don't see why we don't stick fred or mcT on him permanently.
What to expect from 2 headless chicken running around in Fred and McT.

The more I watch this team, the more I'm convinced the players aren't terrible, it's just they're a bunch brought together with no cohesive strategy or vision and as a result you get what looks like a car crash, no matter what strategy you try.

five minutes or more for city to score again at start of second half?

The man the myth the legend. Our captain Harry Maguire.

Sure overall this is more Elangas fault but feck me Harry you are not very good

Maguire has been relegated 4 times. Never won a trophy & lost 7 of the 8 semi-finals that he has played in, scoring 2 own goals in the process. Genuinely believe he's one of the worst players to ever wear the shirt and yet he's our captain. It makes me feel ill just looking at him.

I’ve been watching it on Sky World VR (which is brilliant being essentially at the game sat in my living room) so I’ve seen the whole pitch rather than on TV, we’ve setup well and it’s actually been very even, they simply have better players than us, with quicker movement and better touch. If we had a world class centre mid we’d be winning this. Of course, they’re overloading the left and our defending is amateur.

I’ve never heard of anything like what you’ve described as Sky World VR. I’ll have to check out whether anything like this exists in the US.

Just watched the replay of their second goal and McTominay is just ambling back while 3 City players race past him. Zero awareness.

Typical SkySports pointing out Lindelof's mistakes but not a word on that sack of shit Maguire?
Our press is always picking on the foreign players  nothing new with them.

We look good in their half and shit in ours.

    Essentially, this is it.
When we have the ball and are in their half, we look alright actually. I can see us scoring again.
When they have the ball in our half, we look like conceding again.

Been battered since we scored, although it could easily be 2-2.

Citys control of the game is exceptional. They are working harder as well. They win all the 50/50s.

All their players are extremely mobile.

We played at about the level I expected, but City are worse than expected. Good going forward but their defence look horrible.

Why is noone pointing out Lindelof for 2nd goal?

    Oh boy Sunday league defending!
I'm a fan of his, think he should be first choice to play alongside Varane (if he ever gets fit) but he was very very poor for the second goal... not that same others don't share some of the blame

Defensively the goals didn’t look good, and what the feck was Maguire doing not clearing that? Unreal. City are brilliant though. If we get close and stay in this we’ve done well.

Because they have been coached to create and score easy goals.
We, on the other hand, rely on individual brilliance and scoring worldies.
    Not really.

They're very well coached to keep the ball, especially under pressure. But think about the great dribblers and passers like Foden, Silva, Grealish. City also score goals thanked to their individual brilliance. For example the first goal it's Silva's individual brilliance. The second goal is a serie of our own mistakes.

Most people usually forget how great their players are but think it's only because of Pep. No it's both.

Watch the replay on both goals - Mctominay is a passenger both times while the man he should be marking and stopping, Silva is all over in our box enabling graelish and Foden to also get free as we get overloaded. Scott is sleepwalking and that is causing AwB and Lindelof to be overloaded constantly.

Great match so far bar City as always passing it around at the back.

Defense is wack. A Matic sub would anchor our defense.

He has played well on the ball, I think some are taking the discussion of his conditioning as a criticism of his performance when it is not really.

Pressing has been good too I thought.
