We probably will win this just because. In fact it would not surprise me if we end up getting 7 points out of the City/Liverpool/Spurs run to keep up our hope of 4th only for us to shit the bed again in April when we run into teams we really ought to be beating.

Pep could rest his best players in this one and they would still take us apart.

    Sancho for Ronaldo.

    De Gea
    AWB Lindelof Varane Telles
    Pogba Matic Fred
    Elanga Bruno Sancho

A narrow win will signify a shift and bring loads more confidence to a squad looking emotionally depleted by the second

But knowing us, we’d give away 2 goals in the first half and then City will play keep ball whilst Ronaldo storms off post game like a prepubescent teen

The lads will try their best and still get embarrassed. Hard to see this one going our way.

2-0, first goal will come in first 15', then they'll have 80% possession, and score another one in second half when we are already logged out of the game and Ronaldo is throwing arms.
    I hate playing Pep teams.

City is not looking good at the moment, they struggled yesterday against Everton in the first half and created nothing worthy. I think we will comeback with a draw 1-1.

    DDG
    Lindelof Varane Shaw
    Dalot McT Pogba Telles
    Bruno
    Sancho Elanga

I’d go 5 at the back for some extra solidity, and a holding midfielder to support Pogba, who will lob balls in behind for Elanga and Sancho as the wide forwards, with Bruno acting as the false 9. Counter attacking football, without Ronaldo. I’d have second thoughts over playing him here even if he was on for 30 goals this season anyway considering City’s high pressing style, but he’s been absolutely rubbish in 2022.

We’ll probably lose, but at least give it a go. City 2-1 United.

If we play Ronaldo then City players will be dancing in the dressing room. We can't compete with City playing with 10 men.

I'd play Sancho Elanga and probably Rashford (begrudgingly just because of his pace) as a front 3 and look to counter attack. That's our only hope.

Ronaldo needs to retire. This isn't the league for a 37 yr old. He's done at this level.

I don't think it'll be as bad as people predict.

When we lost to them earlier in the season we were at rock bottom. OGS shouldn't have even been in charge.

Hopefully the players have some pride and come out ready to fight.

Make no mistake we'll twat them and then drop points to norwich whilst handing the title to the dippers and missing out on CL.

Cannot start Pogba. He wont get near the city players.
I'd start pogba over bruno because bruno gives the ball away easily. Both cannot start.

    --dalot------lindelof-----varane-----telles--
    --sancho--mct--pogba--matic--elanga--
    ------------------------cavani*-------------------------

If he's fit. Ronaldo and Rashford are in horrendous form and both can't hold up the ball or fecking press, with both of them it'll be 11v9.

Just want this campaign to end.

    This is the best answer.
The only issue is that next season will also be a write-off. I guarantee it.
We are always a team that is going to do great things in the future....but that future never comes.
It really does suck that we as fans have learnt to accept failure every season, but hope that next season will be different.
In the matchday thread (against Watford), so many fans thought we'd score 3+ goals. I was dubious and knew that Watford had the players to beat us (as they beat us earlier this season).

As for this match, MCFC should absolutely spank us and work on their goal difference.
When LFC play us, they'll probably put 5 or 6 past us, so MCFC need to be aware of their goal difference, compared with LFC.
    I'm expecting 4-1.

I think that the only way we can get out of this mess is to hire a serial winner and keep replacing him with another serial winner, every 2 years.
We hire Jose and got 2 trophies. Fired him in the 3rd season.
If we replaced him with another serial winner, we'd probably have got another 2 trophies in 2 years.
    Then replace....and so on.

The lads will try their best and still get embarrassed. Hard to see this one going our way.

I still remember what MCFC did to us, the last time we played them.
In the 2nd half, they basically didn't let us have the ball. That was it.
It was like watching a group of men play against 5-year-olds.
    Absolutely embarrassing.

As a neutral Sterling v Man. United is always bizarre, plays like he's got two left feet when shooting and some of his misses down the years have been comical so he has proper mental block v you guys.

That said will probably score a hat trick now I've posted that.

I'd say Fernandes as a false 9 could be interesting tactic as feels exactly the sort of game that will just pass Ronaldo by especially as you really need to press from front otherwise City will just have all the time in the world to start building attacks.

Probably a narrow Man. City win as you always seem to play well there in recent times compared to Old Trafford games.

We need to drop Ronaldo to have a chance I think. Go 4 central midfielders and then Elanga and Sancho on the counter.

Ok. I’m gonna go against the grain on this thread and say United will have their game of the season. 1-2 United.

1-1. We are a difficult team to score against now. Just keep Maguire out of it.
That’s probably because of the level of teams we‘ve been playing.

Utd had been favourite to win every game since RR took over.

    DDG
    AWB - Lindelof - Varane - Shaw
    McFred
    Sancho -------------Pogba
    Bruno
    Ronaldo/Rashford
Play Pogba on the left, we need 3 man midfield and if he plays in midfield two, we will get murdered. I'd play Rashford up top simply because we can catch them on the break, and Ronaldo will be totally useless if we don't have the ball.

Would take a draw now, which isn't my style, but how on earth are we winning this. It's simply not happening.

Same as when we last played them, think they'll go 2 goals up and then save their legs for the more difficult games.

I don’t want the scousers to win the title, so I’m fine taking a beating here.

We can easily beat these, just defend well and we have a good chance! They haven’t looked at there best recently. Creating chances isn’t a problem for us… it’s finishing them off! Although we haven’t seen ralf play the best prem teams yet so we don’t know how he’s gonna set up. Probably most likely gonna match them with a 4-3-3 so i think the midfield battle will decide who comes out on top. I’m saying 2-1 united #GGMU

Have to set up for the counter to have any chance, as always unless you’re Liverpool.

Members of this team have beaten city in the past so we should know the game plan. See Spurs the other week. If you defend well you can end up with a few 3v3 chances, unfortunately though we are far from clinical.

It's a game for discipline, hard work and energy - that's why Ronaldo, Shaw, Maguire and Matic should be starting on the bench.

I actually think we might win. Win this when we don't expect to and drop points in matches where we really shouldn't. That's our MO.
