Yeah, heart and stuff, we have won only 3 in 10 PL games so far. Heart my foot. We were poor.
If thats all you care about in football is winning and you can't see the other sides of it maybe sport is not meant for you. We are progressing and there was a lot of positive signs but if you can't take losing every once in a while then you should go cheer for the Harlem Globetrotters.

Maybe this will bring some changes in mentality, we had more chances with 10 men, so they finaly see that they can play with any 1. Positive side is this only can bee better ( atleast im hoping), less injuris and we will be more then ok. To bad Roony didn shoot that great run.

We lost 6-1 to that lot at Old Trafford even when Fergie was in charge. Smalling's stupidity cost us everything.

The 6-1 was a freak result, all teams are allowed them, look at the Leicester game a month ago but this result and the way we have played is no different from what we have seen for quite a while now.

Even before Smalling went off we couldn't hold the ball in their half for more than 4 passes, had what like two poor shots on goal? Being brutally honest, Rojo should have been sent off today as well, they could of had 2 even 3 penalties today and De Gea made some fantastic saves today to keep us in it early on.

There are no positives today, I'm really sorry if this offends anyone or rubs them the wrong way but City were there for the taking after their poor run of form and once again we shoot ourselves in the foot, 13 points from 10 is mid table form not even 7th place form.

Look at the difference between those two twats; Souness and Redknapp, in comparison to last week when we equalised against Chelsea. Cnuts.

Nothing but optimism after this result. Massive improvement on last year, and we're missing key players. I don't care what people say, we're going to walk into that top four. 5 or 6 wins on the bounce now.
Agreed. Can't understand this bollocks about us being poor. Even under Fergie we struggled against City, with Moyes we got murdered, this game was on a par until the sending off. You can't expect to get much with 10 v 11 against a top side. No doubt City should have had some penalties today, so it could have been worse.

11 v 11 we would have won this game imo. Di Maria was average but not as bad as many are making him out to be. Smalling knew he was on a yellow. very stupid decision to dive in.

we will make top 4. We have our balls back. gutsy performace today. McNair and Jones/Carrick should play CB next game.

It great that we can play like that with 10 men but why can't we do it with 11? Shaw and DDG fantastic. Valencia did a job to be fair to him. What's gutting is that with 11 we really should have got something out of the game. We need to string some wins together. Arsenal in a few weeks is going to be a massive game, we need to smash Palace and go in to it with confidence.

You have absolutely no right to tell me who to go cheer for, alright? If you feel happy after United have just lost a game of football to City who were not even good then that's your fecking choice. I saw us being poor, Smalling was brainless for his sending off, so too was Rojo for his injury, we were disorganized and flattered to deceive in the second half. We might be making progress and I think we are, but we NEED to start winning games, that's what football is all about ultimately.

Di Maria's been frustrating, in a match like this with ten men you have to make the most of the freekicks and corners you get but he messed them up every time! I don't know what's going on with him, hope he finds his mojo back soon cause we really need him to make a difference in these matches!

One thing definitge from this game: even we didn't kniow it before, we know it now - title is Chelsea's already. No doubt. City nowhere near good enough: we might even take them at Old Trafford later in the season

Smalling was immense last week and now you lot want him out.. He'll be back smarter(I still think the first one wasn't a yellow) and will be better for us from now on.

Carrick is back so will be interesting to see the teams against CP and Arse..

there is no disgrace in the defeat today, we played with attitude and deserved to get something form it, we fought and playerd right to the final whistle never let City settle on their lead, Smalling and only Smalling is the reason we lost, forget the pens that they should of had that's football you get them or you don't and today they did not.
There is plenty of reason to smile after todays game.

I am not expecting same level at least stable. Look at Chelsea, even they change manager, they did not drop to 5th or 6th or even 7th.

They replaced Benitez with Mourinho, big upgrade there. Just like Van Gaal is a big upgrade on Moyes.

We're showing more positive signs so far under Van Gaal than we did at any point during Moyes reign of terror as well.

Its not about being happy losing. its about the performance and for the most part we were the better team. That is encouraging.

Not a bad showing. City home and with 10 man for over 45 minutes and only lost the game 1-0. With a little bit more luck it could've been 1-1 or even 1-2. The season hasn't gone well thus far, but compared to the mess it was last year I see clear signs of improvement.

he had a brain fart today, maybe the game got to him and he was extra hyped up , who knows. He made a mistake and we paid for it, does not mean he is not a good player.

Didn't think he was immense at all last week - and never has been. Rather give Mcnair a long run in the team

The reality is that all that "We showed heart / We would have deserved better / We showed good signs" talk doesn´t help us. At the end of the day football is a results-game and the results aren´t there. If we continue this way, we will win comfortably vs Palace, then lose Arsenal again. Thats not the way, we need a win streak.

And i am the only one who hates ADMs corners? I mean seriously 9 out of 10 corners are going knee-high at the near post and getting cleared by the first defender. I dont get it

Are you serious? They could have had like 3 penalties and another red or 2 for us. Smalling cost us this game, nobody else.
Yea definitely smalling cost us the game but had the ref been fair with his card distribution, would they have had those penalty appeals? I think not

And souness thinks loosing a player didn't have an effect. Wow.

For starters, we are fun to watch agaion. Under Moyes, I was not only frustrated but bored

Losing to City is always a terrible thing, but we were down to ten men and we showed real fight and character at the end.

We could (and probably should) have nicked a draw.

Also, how Joe Hart never got sent off for sticking his head into the ref I'll never know.

Agreed, what the hell was he thinking first of all, and why didn't Oliver give him a yellow? Officiating this season has been woeful!

Credit to the team who stayed on the pitch. I thought we deserved something out of the game. Nice to see Rooney take some people on but why he didn't shoot is beyond me. We are definitely playing better and I expect us to start turing some of these performances into 3 points.

Its unfortunate because I thought City were poor. DDG and Shaw both played really well and I thought Carrick and McNair were a great pairing all things considered. We are really shooting ourselves in the foot in most games and the brainfarts and individual mistakes have cost us so many points.

The good news is so many teams above us are having similar stop-start seasons so I think its all going to be about a team that can have some consistency over two month period that will decide whether or not we can get into the top four.

Two years since we last beat City. Encouraging second-half performance, though.

Di Maria wasn't shocking bad at all? Thought he was decent when he got on the ball, can't do much when we are parking the bus like we were in the middle 3rd of the game. His corners are awful though, true. Just wouldn't judge a player how they played based on corners.

Anyways. Normally he is at his best in big games. Just needs to play more central IMO.
I am dreaded to criticise our players normally but the standard (and expectation) on players of his quality is supposed to be a bit higher. We want key players to make a difference, to be the magician, to perform their bestest when facing city, Chelsea etc. we were very spoiled back in the Fergie's days and he always had ways to make his best players perform like the best players on earth. I am sorry to criticise ADM but he hadn't made a difference when it's badly needed.

God know if this game would be the one that eventually decides on our respective fate come end of season. This win does and will lift City's morale there's no doubt about it.

LvG should be responsible because it's the manager who gets the best out of players, especially the star players.

Yea definitely smalling cost us the game but had the ref been fair with his card distribution, would they have had those penalty appeals? I think not
Maybe the ref was trying to even it out by not giving them the pens but the only way to even things out would have been red cards for zaba and demichelis.

If there was ever a game where the ref cost us the game, it was not the leicester game, IT WAS THIS ONE!

Fair play sending off smalling but zaba and demichelis were also lucky to stay on.

The ref cost us the game !!!! are you for real, if anything the ref saved us from a 3-4 nil defeat today, 2 stonewall pens and another that was very close.

Souness!!!!! I know he's a Liverpool fan but come on, what is that all about??? Surely some impartiality has to be shown.

You have to think that the likes of West Ham and Southampton cannot keep up that form all season which will help. If it was Liverpool from last year and Arsenal in those CL spots it would be more worrying

We really poor in set pieces didnt we? How many corners that we have at the end of the day? If di maria can really take a proper corner we might get one that go in. Piss poor.
