I think too many excuses are being made for him. He had virtually zero competition for the position for so many years. No other position has got that.
Think this is his level (based on his mentality and all) and that's about it. He will not be the first player to look super awesome as a teenager, but not be able to step up from that.

In the end an easy game. Definitely helped when we took off Mata and Ighalo. Rashford and Greenwood offered so much more.

Lingard was good today (surprisingly)... He was unlucky with some of the passes but you can see the intent, shots on goal, that's another story, definitely one of the better players tonight.

Overall shows the gap between first 11 and the rest... our depth lacks quality due to us buying/keeping so many shit players...

Greenwood was dropped for the opener because he needed a kick up the arse and probably hadn't trained as much as needed due to fecking about in Iceland. He'll start most games going forward as the act of dropping him to the bench appears to have had the desired impact.

Even as squad members, I don't see the point in Mata or Ighalo, anymore. When you want to make an impact from the bench, they are not a step up from anyone on the pitch. The change in pace when they went off was startling. The space that opened up all over the pitch. From what was a hard slog, suddenly became an easy win. Time to do away with these mascots earning a combined 260k per week and bring in some real quality. This Sarr fellow looks a steal at 36m. And Moussa Dembelle from Lyon. Both achievable transfers and an upgrade on what we currently have.

Mata was MOTM and had a good game. Created two goal scoring chances that come to mind and scored a penalty.

Bailey is like Shaw. If they can stay fit they’re quality and deserve to be on the pitch. Challenge has been stringing more than a handful of games together between long absences.

Yeah that’s fair. I think his bad luck has to run out at some point though. Unfortunately his body is probably too highly strung and easily breaks but while he is fit he’s our best option.

This. We really weren't very good. We were 1-0 up courtesy of a penalty (a valid one TBF) against Luton. It wasn't a case of their keeper having a worldie either. Very poor performance when considering the opposition.

Positive was that subs looked sharp.

Still defending that diabolical decision? Pep started Foden, who shared an equivalent predicament with Mason, and he scored. Greenwood, a bigger talent, may well have done the same.
