    Would like to see us go 4-3-3 for a change, and a strong side with a couple of youngsters - something like;

    ------------------Henderson------------------
    AWB-----Mengi------Maguire-----Shaw
    ---------VDB------Matic------Pogba------
    -Greenwood--Rashford-----James-

(James purely because he's getting a hard-time from some fans every time he plays RW, and he's so much better on the left)

Any other season this game would be a complete reserve side. This season we badly badly need the match fitness back for Brighton game. We can't afford to lose both of our opening league games.

Full strength team and let's get our season up and running.

Don't want AWB, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Bruno, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, VDB, or Greenwood anywhere near this. Not even on the bench.

We need to get Mengi in to show what he can do.

We need to play Maguire, Shaw, Pogba, Rashford to get fitness.

It was clear as day on Saturday that we are in dire need of some match fitness. Can treat this game as a pre-season friendly; Win, lose or draw, it doesn't matter, just get the fitness in for the next PL game against Brighton.

Surprised people aren't interested in this cup. It could be our only decent chance for silverware alongside the FA cup. I say go for it.

Looks like they all need another 90 minutes under their belts as soon as humanly possible to be honest. I would play the lot of them off the back of that sh*t show on the weekend.

Should surely play full team if we're going to use fitness as an excuse for the next 3 months

Apparently Shaw was second in the preseason fitness tests so we might see Williams get a run out.

Yes but, unlike a pre season friendly, we only have 3 subs to use. Which means you're giving a bunch of the 90mins.

I totally accept we need to bring up match sharpness, but we also need to look weeks ahead and make sure we don't start to fatigue.

Agree with most here, full staring 11 bar De Gea for Dean, we need march sharpness asap.

Hopefully there'll be minutes for whoever needs them, and no-one who looks as if they're playing through injury please.

If we play the strongest XI and then lose to Brighton on Saturday, the excuse will be tiredness.

    Henderson

    AWB
    Smalling/Bailey
    Maguire
    Williams

    Matic
    Pogba
    VDB

    Greenwood
    Martial
    Rashford

Or you could play Fred in midfield but they all need minutes.

Hopefully Rashford can get some confidence back by playing against lower league opposition.

Honestly don’t give a feck about this game. Completely pointless.
Actually, we should be treating games like this very seriously. The players who don't get in the league starting 11 should be busting their balls to get noticed and stake claims for the places of the likes of Lindelof. We should be hammering Luton by 4 or 5 goals. Anything less and you'd have to question what's going on at United.

The only people less interested than ours owners in United winning silverware again are some of the residents of the Caf.

Including their two pre season games Luton have played 6 won 6. Currently third in the Championship.

The absolute scenes if/when we fcuk this up.

He shouldn’t be taking this serious unless we get to a semi final.
But we know he will. Playing Pogba against Rochdale last season was an example of what was to follow. Play almost the strongest team available whatever the competition unless it was a 2 legged game where he could afford to rest players when we had a distinct advantage. Last season Ole was desperate to win a trophy and he didn't care if he ruined players. Maybe this season he will change his ways but everything points to the opposite.

it's a shame we need to use this game like it's preseason instead of playing squad players and kids. maybe we can get a few young guys in there for 30 minutes.

If Mengi doesn't start I'm burning Old Trafford to the ground.

Play some decent football ffs, lack of incomings are one thing, but to struggle another season against weaker sides would be close to continuing bashing own skull against the wall despite blood and pain.

Will be an extremely cagey game, no doubt.

I'd seriously start smalling and Mengi or Bailley. Lindelof needs dropping and Maguire didn't look like he could be arsed

Just huff and puff and it will fall down.
I hope we lose this one and that frees up some extra time later on for recovery, like Liverpool did last year in the cups.

I suggest that first XI starts this since not a single player seems to be match fit. To get some fitness and as a punishment for saturdays embarrasment.

Full strength team - we aren't fatigued, we're not fit and the next game is Saturday which is fine. Luton are also a pretty decent team and we should assume it'll be easy.

Normally i would say play a second string, but given that we need our starting 11 to get up to speed i would play a strong team. If we are winning comfortably by 60 minutes, then make subs and tell everyone to take it easy.

I have a sneaky feeling that it might be LvG's MK Don's débâcle Moment for Ole.

Confidence is just not there...We will fold if we go 1 Goal down.
