Really struggling to think what kind of line up we'll go with, but I wouldn't be surprised to see three at the back!

    de Gea
    Bailly Maguire Lindelof
    Dalot Pogba Matic Telles
    Bruno
    Sancho Rashford

I don't really think Rashford deserves to start, but he's still probably the most likely to score for us. He's due a performance and now would be the perfect time for him to step up and give is a reason to believe he can still have successful career here.

That said, Liverpool are so much better than us. I don't remember the last time we put more than 60 minutes of a good performance in. We need a full 90 of better than we've been all season to get anything tonight. I can't see that suddenly happening.

Liverpool comfortably, by 2 or 3.

For one I've called a hypothetic situation pathetic. It is an incredibly small time mentality to go into one game hoping to stop Liverpool winning four trophies, especially given that one game can't actually stop them winning anything. They players will be focused on trying to win the game for Manchester United.

There is nothing wrong to use that as part of the extra motivation against our biggest rival, this is not even Chelsea or even Arsenal or even City, this is Liverpool, this match is like the English El Classico and I was expecting the players get extra motivation for this match. Winning a match and get 3 points is just a fecking general motivation for every matches and yet even with that motivation we still couldn't win or perform. At least make this match different to others, show it to the fans. How can United fans call player for saying that is pathetic is just something I would never understand. I guess even some United fans don't have the same opinion towards Liverpool.

Yeah, that's it, some United fans just don't hate Liverpool because they recognise how entirely small time it would be to go into a game critical for our own aims for the season using stopping Liverpool as a motivating factor, especially since, as I since, us winning today stops nothing at all as they would still have 6 games remaining. This is a ridiculous argument and you genuinely come off as if you are about 9 years old. If you are in fact 9 or below then I apologise, crack on.

Oh I’m not optimistic at all! I actually think we’ll get spanked. But my point was that if there is any possible way we could get anything from the game then that could be it. Still think we’ll get beat 0-4.
The fact that you put faith in Rashford of all people suggests that you're optimistic :)

What you don't understand is that it won't make it worse to add it as part of the extra motivation factor if it could motivate the players more in comparison to other games that we lost. But then a 9 years old is probably too young to understand what I meant.

I expect us to get beat but more routinely than hammered. 2-0 type of thing.

To have any real hope we need to avoid the early goal.

I understand what you're saying, I'm just telling you that you are wrong and that it doesn't enter professional football players heads.

    And he's our captain...
If he said it is our motivation you would probably be saying how embarrassing it is that our captain is saying it. The guy can't win such is the nonsense surrounding everything he does.

1-0 to United tonight. The quadruple dream left in tatters.

We have got to swallow our pride and play on the counter.

If we try to be "progressive" we'll get another tanking.

Best-case scenario for me is we nick a point with a counter-attack from nowhere - like Chelsea away

If you understand, you're supposed to know that there is nothing wrong about it since it won't make it worse by adding it as an extra motivation for this Liverpool vs United match.

    And he's our captain...

So? What's the alternative? To say we are extra motivated because it's Liverpool and we want to hurt their title-bid?

Cue the same whingers saying "small-time mentality, should be equally motivated for every game, should be worrying about our own performances" etc...

I feel really weird about this game.

Excited with anticipation, yet anxious and dreading it all at the same time.

Our only hope is to park the bus and play on the counter with some of our pacey players, if we try and press high up the pitch they’ll eat us alive.

    De Gea
    AWB Maguire Lindelof Telles
    Matic
    Bruno Pogba

    Elanga Rashford Sancho

Elanga and Sancho will obviously need to track Robertson and Trent, so Bruno and Pogba pinging balls over the top for Rashford is the only way I can see us having any joy whatsoever.

It’s going to be grim viewing for sure.

It did for 45 minutes against City and we played probably our best football of the season.

No chance! I understand you are possibly overstating it because it was against City but it certainly wasn't our best football of the season. What we did well; however, was pressed from the front. We looked very organised off the ball, although if I remember correctly, City scored with their first attack. We had some good counter attacking moments but we've looked much better against City in previous seasons, more notably under Ole.

In the second half, as a result of pressing high up in the first, we were shattered in the second half and got picked off for for fun.

We are not a team that can press for long periods, so RR needs to be clever tonight. Pressing high up, especially without the likes of Fred and McTominay is asking for trouble. I think we should play with a mid to low block, and look to counter in the wide areas.

The Liverpool full backs, especially TAA really struggled defending those runs in behind from the wingers against City. Hopefully, it's something we can exploit.

Oh joy, let's all hope the team do City a huge favour tonight.....what a fab time to be a United fan :wenger:

I know Rashford has been shite for ages now, but I would play him up top for this game.
We really need someone with pace to give us a threat on the counter and give the Dippers back four something to think about rather than playing with such an high line and dictating play from the back.
Hitting them on the counter might be our only hope.

It's hard to feel anything other than dread going into this match. Perhaps embarrassment as well, but certainly dread. Liverpool have every reason to be up for this match and are fully aware that they can't look beyond us. Pity us they might, but they'll put the sword to us in the first half and ease up at the 60th minute.

I don't think we'll get hammered - Liverpool need to conserve energy at this stage of the season

They'll get 3-0 up inside 30 minutes then then slowly pass it around for the next hour.

This is how I imagine it going to. I don't think they'll get to 3 that quickly though. I think it'll be 1-0 early. 2-0 around 35 mins. 3-0 and game killed just after HT and then them just passing it around and us not trying, similar to city away. They'll maybe nick another late one and do us 4-0.
