That was poor. Very very poor. Its just not working. And it quite clearly wasn't working very soon into the half. Okay we looked marginally better in the second half, but it's nowhere close to being good enough.
We look shit scared of them as evidenced by the fact we can't string 2 passed together. Everything just looks so rushed and like they're playing on the edge. The amount of misplaced passes and offsides was beyond belief.
We need to make a change to how we're going to play in this second half. Forget this defensive counter stuff. Our defense is our weakest area. They have figured out our counter attack. Put Cavani on. Play it into him and put their makeshift defense under some pressure!
"very, very poor" is hyperbole. We are away at a team who are the current champions and haven't lost at home in 3 and a half years. If you're surprised that Liverpool had the most of the first half hour/40 minutes then it's your own fault.
Getting to half time without conceding was important. If we can get a goal in the first 20 or so - and we've looked capable of doing so - then the pressure is all on Liverpool.
If we came out flying and ended up conceding 2 or 3 then Solskjaer would have been absolutely slammed for being naive.
I'm pretty comfortable with that half, we now need to go up a gear and return a bit of the pressure.
