They are making some very good passes and interceptions too.

Some of the best football I've seen from us in a long time. Considering it is at Anfield with so much on the line, I am quite happy. Rooney has only been average, but our passing and tempo control have been excellent. They are sprinting around chasing us at home. Gotta love that. Still a long way to go. We have to keep up our intensity and composure.

Jones made two Beckenbaeur stops from through-ball attempts in the space of 20 seconds. Smalling will get the notoriety on here (as usual) but Jones made the key stops.

Great first half so far. What a tense game, not many chances, but still very entertaining. They increased the pressure in the last 10-15 minutes and still couldn't produce more than the big Lallana chance, I am very confident for the second half, if we continue like that.

Di Maria as sub early second half could be key, could destroy them on the counter.

Rooney is struggling a bit. He's isolated and when he's holding the ball up, as Fellaini is often in the channel to stretch the defence and Mata is out wide. I'd be wanting Herrera to get a bit closer, but then we don't want to overcommit in midfield in case we lose the ball and get hit on the counter. Be interesting to see if we change that in the 2nd half. Rooney needs to sharpen up when he's running in behind though. He's strayed offside needlessly when he could have created an opening.

We look comfortable overall. I think a 2nd goal will win it.

Rooney needs to wake up. Everyone else is contributing but him. Its like playing with 10 men against 12 as every time we play the ball to him, it just ends up going towards the opposition.

Di Maria for Rooney is the only sub I'd consider at the moment, but leave him on for 20-25mins and see what happens.

Mata's been brilliant. He's been composed and intelligent on the ball which is vital against Liverpool compared to Di Maria's chaotic and erratic style of play.

Loving the linkup between him and Herrera, somewhat reminiscent of the telepathic understanding between him and Hazard at Chelsea. Fellaini, Smalling and Carrick have also been very good.

Rooney easily the worst player for you guys. Gives it away every single time.

Maybe but almost all of his mistakes were mishit passes to a nearby player.
