My girlfriend knows that for this brief period I am very uncivil if she talks to me and leaves me to myself until the next day.

There's absolutely no doubt they are going to press high, I think Carrick --> Fellaini and the rest of the attack joining him is going to be very dangerous today.

    2hrs 20 to go. Frothing.

What if we set up like we did against Arsenal two weeks ago? It would mean if we go behind early, we'd have to come out looking for an equalizer while set up defensively. Um....its so difficult to predict this one. We just don't know what United will come out. The predictable-sideways-passing-but-getting-nowhere United, or the ram-it-down-Tottenham's-throat United.
Liverpool will be very pacey, pass the ball quick, and tackle like jack russels. I'm gonna go 2:1 to Liverpool sadly, but want to be proven wrong by our boys.

Mostly worried about the first the 30 mins tbh, their fans and their players will be well up for. Just need to get through that and then take it from there.

Haven't been watching Liverpool too much this season, do they tend to fade during the second half?

I want to see that all players on the pitch knows the importance of this game. This is a huge game in quest of top 4. If Di Maria or Mata plays they better contribute in pressing/running back to defend.

I think this will be another classic derby.

The usual horrible butterfly feeling in my stomach before the annual Anfield trip.

How are people whiling away the time? I don't watch pre match buildup shows as they're invariably full of shit. So a full 2 hours before I even sit in front of the telly

Getting scared now. It's all well and good playing United and enjoying the rivalry when there's a big gap between the teams (which has pretty much been the case for the past twenty years), but now there's actually a lot riding on this game, I fear it both as a rivalry, but also as an important game in our campaign.

Still, that's what football is all about.

I think we will play on the counter like Arsenal at Emirates, let the opposition have the ball and then use the pace of Young and Angel down the flanks with Rooney driving through the centre.

So essentially we will let them have possession but hit very quickly on the break.

I was watching Louis van Gaal's Barcelona play Real Madrid away the other day, as soon as they got the ball they were very direct and took a lot of shots. That match ended 2-2, I can see Fellaini being key because he must drop back to support Carrick and Herrera but also he must get up the pitch to receive deep crosses from Angel di Maria, he could be a nuisance in the air for Liverpool's RCB and CB.

Valencia and Blind will probably hold their position more, Blind might be responsible for deep crosses from the left.

Yep, isn't it great to be looking forward to one of our games with something riding on it? I wish it was always like that, very nerve-wrecking :)

They played poorly because we played well. First half we didn't allow them to play whatsoever. 2nd half we stopped pressing so intensely and only then could they breathe. They were zero threat all game because we completely nullified them.

Agreed, they weren't poor and the lads just outplayed them. If they can do the same today then it should be an exciting game.

I don't remember feeling as uncomfortable as today before a match (maybe the closest I can remember is the first match against Madrid on 2013). This game always gave me nerves, but this time is the first time I can remeber that this game (on the league) will have a high importance. Until last year, bar the rivalry, it was just an another game which doesn't decide much. Last year we were quite awful and was expecting that they'll humiliate us.

But this year, it is so important. Win this match and we almost ensure the fourth place. Lose the match and we will be chasing them.

I said that earlier in the thread, but I went to sleep and things have changed. Now I hate it

As much as we played well yesterday, Spurs played poorly. They weren't drilled well in defence and lost the ball very cheaply, I feel Liverpool won't make the same mistakes and offer a lot more going forward. I think Liverpool will nick it either 1-0 or 2-1.

They looked liked they played poorly because we would not let them play the way they wanted to and we made them look bad , we need to do the same today.

Only 30 mins gone since I left to cook my dinner : pan-seared Australian corn-fed steak (2 mins each side) with arugula, onions and sesame-coated toasted baguette. Portuguese custard tart and double Nespresso.

Ha. I think that was the 2006 FA Cup game won by a Crouch header. It was a month or so after Neville sprinted up the pitch to celebrate a late Ferdinand winner at OT. He got what he deserved and pretty much requested it.

Form Table since the first 10 games of the season

    Manchester United P19 - W13 - D4 - L2 - F34 - A12 - 43pts
    Arsenal P20 - W14 - D1 - L5 - F40 - A20 - 43pts
    Manchester City P20 - W12 - D5 - L3 - F42 - A18 - 41pts
    Liverpool P19 - W12 - D4 - L3 - F30 - A17 - 40pts
    Tottenham - P20 - W12 - D3 - L5 - F37 - A31 - 39pts
    Chelsea P18 - W11 - D5 - L2 - F32 - A13 - 38pts
    Southampton P20 - W9 - D4 - L7 - F21 - A16 - 31pts

Need to make sure we are still top of this table by the end of the day. Draw = good. Win = GREAT :D

Got the time on this game completely wrong, I thought it was late kick off! But instead its clashing with my own league match, fecking gutted :(

    Rooney, Herrera, Mata (freekick)

    3-1 United.

Agreed totally with this sentiment. Christ I would love a Utd & Liverpool title challenge 1 - 2 finish every season. Imagine it. Screw the Rent boys and the Citeh's of this world.
Man utd & Liverpool will and always will be the best 2 clubs in this league imo.

Hope we go for the same team that played against Spurs - Di Maria can come on as a sub if needed against a hopefully tired Liverpool defense.

    Meanwhile on RAWK
I just puked immensely. It's an omen. We've never lost when I've puked before a game. On the other hand I've never puked before a game.

Have a twitter bet with a mate. Have to change my pic to a Liverpool logo for a month if we lose...please don't lose :(

Me too but I'm expecting Di Maria to start in place of Mata.

That's the team I have predicted too. As good as Mata was, it's going to be a fast, physical, intense away game and I think Di Maria's pace will be better for us.

I hate going away to Liverpool. They always seem to play like a final against us and we play shite. :(

Worst part of this game is not knowing which team will turn up vs Pool, the one that played vs Spurs or one from our many earlier disappointing performances.. Very very nervous

Agreed. I can understand why van Gaal might go for Di Maria, because of his pace. It was very useful away at Arsenal for example.

But I think having played as well as we did last week, those players have earned the right to start again this week.

It feels like some sort of cup final. I just can see we lose in similar fashion to the Kuyt Hat trick match and questions will seriously be asked about LVG.

I know stats can be misleading but im surprised by this. Especially the amount of chances created.
