Is there a possibility that AWB will be RCB and Williams at RWB, given that he is right footed? Though it would be madness to throw a kid into a new position in our hardest game of the season.

I think we'll play this way.

I don't think Williams is as fast as Shaw at top speed. Shaw doesn't sprint often, but when he does he's got good acceleration and pace. Salah is rapid. That's why their long balls to him work.
So Shaw should defend on Salah, Williams is good at creating the run in the channel and forcing the shape of the opposition to adapt to that.

Because some of our players are wearing fecking hats. Deary me!

And he said it was because the manager and players are talking about putting up a good fight and that seems to be the height of our ambition. To him and players of his era United not been confident of winning a game is just so bizarre.

Would give anything to have a prime Keane line out for us today.

Seems like it’s a 442 with Brandon Playing LW. I assume to man mark TAA

I can see that, whether that will happen is debatable. But it could be that Ole is pushing Williams into a left sided midfield role. He certainly can tackle, can pass the ball reasonably well, doesn't seemed fased by anything, and can double up on Salah or TAA if required.

Listening to Ole and I just shake my head. Smiling when talking about Rashford, almost laughing.

I repeat, no more fkng excuses! Live and die with your squad or take some accountability. T4/EL win or Go.

Thats where we're at, though. A game is a game and anyone can win on the day, but Liverpool are a far way ahead of us at the moment. Just look at the table. We have to be realistic.

I think Williams will be MOTM. Trent has improved defensively but he still likes to get forward a lot and it will leave a lot of space for Williams. We will get a lot of joy there. Come on!!

I hope we line up like this

    MARTIAL

    WILLIAMS PEREIRA MATIC FRED JAMES

    SHAW MAGUIRE LINDELOF WAN-BISSAKA

    DE GEA
It would make us solid defensively and we would have good counter attacking potential through Williams and James on the flanks and Martial as striker.

    He should cry?

It seems such a nitpicking thing, but it's actually rather big. That kind lower expectation psychology can have detrimental effects on a team as far as mental belief and performance is concerned. United teams in the past weren't just winners in their talents, but 100% winners in their mindset.

I doubt we will hardly get out of our half tbh

Yeah, it’s a concern. Maguire says we need to take the game to them and go at them, yet we’re starting with 7 defensive players. We’ve set up not to lose, so when we do go a goal down 10 minutes in, I’ve no idea how we’re going to recover anything. This could get messy..

I think Martial and James will initially look for the space behind the fullbacks when they attack, Pereira could be the point in the midfield diamond, with Matic as the holding midfielder and Fred and Williams as the box to box. Certainly think Williams has all the credentials to achieve this, whether he will is another matter. Or perhaps Williams will be RWB with AWB RCB?

Bewildering line up. Notwithstanding dumping bang on form Mata for the underwhelming Pereira. That alone makes zero sense whatsoever.
Three full backs and two central defenders is also baffling.
A lie down and die look to us at first glance.
But this is a big game. Let's hope every man raises their game to the maximum.

Liverpool haven’t lost all year and we’re the only team to take ANY points off them this year. fair to say we’re the underdogs.

I remember seeing the teamsheet for the 2012 Champions League final and being so confused at seeing Ashley Cole & Ryan Bertrand's name. 2 left-backs worked out OK for us!

Neville really doesn't rate James that much eh.
James is new at the club, 21 years old, and probably doesn't have the ability to be any more than a squad player for a top club. I like the lad and he has a future here but it's a sad indictment of how far we've fallen and how awful we've been in the market that he's already so important to us.

Yes it does - legs. Mata would be destroyed in this match.

We played three CBs against them at OT and remain the only team to have taken points off them this season, so it's the right system.

As for personnel, who would you rather played? Jones?
