They outclassed us in the first half and though we started sharp in the second half, they were the more dangerous team and should have put the game to bed.
They were better in the first half, but didn't really create the chances to "roll us over." They had a lot of the ball in front of our back line, but it wasn't exactly like De Gea was being peppered with shots.
Their first goal came from a long ball and some poor defending, and their second came from a lucky rebound off the post. I know we were slightly fortunate with our goal, but immediately following that we had them on the back foot and finished the half well, and then came out flying in the second.
The second half was a more even affair, but we could have been awarded a penalty after Bravo came flying out, and given that we dominated the first twenty minutes or so of the half, an equaliser would have changed the pattern of the game.
The game was very close, and I don't think there'd have been many sensible City fans that'd would have said a 2-2 draw was an unfair result, had we managed to find the equaliser. City may have edged a close game, but they certainly didn't roll us over or outclass us.
Liverpool have started the season well, but this fear surrounding them is just ludicrous. As far as I'm concerned, their most impressive result this season has been the draw at Spurs. Chelsea have misfired, Leicester have shipped 4 against 3 sides already, Hull are always going to be prone to a tonking, they scraped through against Swansea, and Arsenal were fielding a makeshift back-line.
They're a better side than the one Rodgers had in 2013/14, and I think Klopp's a better manager, but the style and the vulnerabilities are very similar. It's still very shit or bust, and I think if United can grab an early goal and weather an inevitable early storm, we stand a good chance of taking the points.
Liverpool were hanging on against Arsenal despite being 3 goals up, had no answer to Burnley's early goals, couldn't hold on against Spurs, and found themselves holding against Chelsea despite being 2 goals up. I think that Liverpool are very much there to be got at, and I find the number of United fans seemingly accepting defeat already quite staggering.
