We need to be more aggressive in attack. Our pressing on their keeper has been pitiful and we have generally been a bit lax in the final third. This is where we need to improve to become a top team because there were more goals in that half for us but we haven’t been purposeful enough at all. Dominance needs to be pressed home in this league. We could be 2 or 3 up before one of our full backs get a second yellow then it wouldn’t even matter.

Yep, defence and midfield has been dominate with the attack seriously letting us down

If Elanga can't run and press what else does he offer? At least Rashford and Sancho might have a moment of quality (see the goal)

Clear to me that De Gea is a weakness in the team with his distribution. We lose possession so many times by him punting it long.
Antony will be a massive upgrade on Elanga (who I think looks a bit lost at this level in all honesty).
Rashford is a pretty bad CF.
Sancho and Malacia have no attacking understanding at all.

Do have some positives though, Varane and Martinez look fantastic. Eriksen is a rock in CM, so comfortable on the ball. McTominay has done pretty well tonight too so far.

Building from the back or so they say. Varane, Martinez, Eriksen, McT looks like a decent core. Excited to see where Casemiro comes in.

Elanga had a couple of good moments but faded. Yeah Antony will be a fantastic upgrade from this.

Sancho I hope he just plays CF and we have Rashford come in from the left.

Should have done better in some situations as they are really poor. Rahsford just isn't a nine and Dalot and Malacia have been wank

Disappointed to only be 1-0 up, which says a lot I suppose. Defence is looking very assured. Im scared to jinx it, but this defence feels like the opposition actually needs to put in a decent bit of effort to score.

Midfield has been decent, we've had some good passing moves when we've been in deeper areas. But up front we've been very lightweight and that's made it hard to control the game in advanced areas. Elanga has done almost nothing. Rashford has had moments but isnt cut out to be a central attacker, he needs space to run into. Sancho has been decent, but like the last match, we struggle to get him close to the other attackers to work opportunities. Took his goal well though.

I'd bring Ronaldo on early second half, stick Rashford out left, Sancho right. Ronnie may not be a super hard worker either, but his link up play is better than Rashford has shown, and at least he knows what to do in the box.

Dubravka, Antony, and Martial in and this game would probably have already been wrapped by HT. The fundamentals are getting there

I can't remember any chances beyond the goal. Need to be better in possesion. Dalot, Malacia, Rashford, Bruno and Elanga are the chief culprits

Good half in control, nice goal and should have more, the only downer is both full backs on a yellow and this ref is shit at making the right call. I can't see ETH changing anything at halftime maybe 60mins in Elanga off Ronny down the middle. 75mins Casimero on Mctom off?.

Started well....started to go a bit flat towards the end

Weakness so far has been Dalot. He needs to get back to the player we have seen the past two games on defense.

Also more striking of the ball off the pass/feed. You don't have to screw around with it when it's a transition moment, take the shot.

Not really sure where this criticism of Dalot is coming from, he’s been pretty solid first half.

Sancho is a smart, technical player with skills but he's soft. He lacks quickness, explosiveness and cutting edge in anything he does. I really hope this is not his true form because I want him to do well.
He was explosive in Germany. He still has time to come good for us.

Way too much negativity on this thread tonight as we are playing quite well. Elanga and Rashford seem to be who everyone is targeting. Don't think they've been great but the constant insults from our fans is just insane. Your man Ten Hag clearly sees something you don't.

Good second half of the first half. Before the goal we were just all over the place, after the goal we settled down. Leicester players are under pressure from the fans and it is affecting their play. Need another goal quickly and this may be a wrap.

Again the biggest difference is Martinez and Varane with the coolness.

Some of the interceptions made and that run from Martinez - miles ahead of Maguire and Lindelof.

    Light years away actually.

Martial better get over his fecking injuries issues. You bring in Martial and Antony in this squad to replace the awful, downright useless Elanga and mediocre Rashford and we'll be comfortably beating team at this current Leicester level.

Elanga and Rashford have been pretty awful, assist aside for Rashford. Slightly better quality than those 2 and we'd have been up 3 against this awful, zero confidence Leicester.

Add a keeper who can actually distribute the ball decently and we'll be looking pretty good. DeGea is so aweful on the ball that every pass back to him is an automatic loss of possession. Just terrible with the ball.

You are really overhyping Martial - 2 goal in the whole of last season; 7 goals in the season before. If that was Rashford stats, he would be slaughtered.

He's the player to either finish off a move or provide the last pass. Everything needs to be clockwork around him for us to use him effectively. He was never the kind of player to power through teams with dribbling and pace. That kind of player that scares the shit out of defenders is Antony.

Both not at the level required but Martial is levels above Rashford when playing through the middle. Rashford just looks so clumsy and awkward there and doesn’t have a lower body strength to hold off the defenders.

More urgency in the final 3rd needed. There's opportunities for us to press them too with how poorly they space out, but we're being too lax at times.

Antony is going to be a gigantic upgrade on Elanga.

Yeah this pretty much. New keeper, and our two other forwards in and we are up 3-0 at half here.

Credit to McT and Bruno, both much more composed today and it shows in how we’ve played. McT isn’t hiding and Bruno isn’t playing with a shot clock.

I don't wanna jinx it but what in the ever living feck has happened to this Leicester team?
Doesn’t Rodgers do this thing where he transforms a team for the better over 2 seasons and then after that it just plateaus and nothing else happens until his inevitable firing.

Happened with Liverpool and Celtic. Thing is though is that he stagnated with Celtic but they still won things (due to Scottish football being absolute gash quality) but allowed Rangers to catch up.

Feel like Leicester have entered the stagnation period and things just need a freshen up.

We're getting better. But we're disappointing in the final third.

These are there for the taking if we click.

People turning their nose up at the possibility of getting Depay, even though he would be a massive upgrade over Rashford and Elanga.

Still so much work to do with this team but we are getting better.
Exactly. I watched Barca the other day and they are levels above what we’ve shown. And here we have fans thinking that we’re doing really well with all the characteristic unforced errors from the usual suspects.

You want Sancho to press more and want to bring on Ronaldo. You can't say those 2 things in the same post
Ronaldo will at least give us a goal where as rashford doesn’t look like he knows where the net is. Sancho can improve on his pressing.

We look comfortable, which is a massive improvement. We should've scored another, some decision making issues remain. You can see where the little improvements are needed-better long passing from the GK, a better passer alongside Eriksen, more quality on the right and a more physical striker up front. But the players who are there have done their best with what they have.

Only negative is the ref seems very card happy. Malacia's one was a very bad call from the linesman. As Erisken and Sancho tire, I can see Leicester getting back into it. Need to score another and put this to bed beforehand. We should not be going into another tense final 10 mins.

Issue is most of them haven't been where you want your striker. Benefiting Sancho a few times but still needs to learn to be a threat in behind centrally.
He'll be killed sandwiched between the two CBs. Even one is too much for him. Dude has no strength to even think of being there. He's doing all right got a nice assist.

So? He could have had 10 assists but that doesnt make that a good pass. It was a bad pass but Rashford certainly isnt as bad as some people claim here.
He’s been very poor.. not all his fault though, he’s just not a central striker. Malacia is better in the air than him, he is unbelievably weak and unable to protect the ball, his first touch is abysmal, he offers nothing when not trying to run behind, he does look better when he’s out wide which you’d expect. Shame we don’t have a striker so he could play out wide where he’s more comfortable.

A Saha type striker who could stay fit would be game changing for this Utd team, hold the ball up, use the ball well, but also run the channels and be an individual threat. Rash can give a lot of the latter stuff but just isn't great with his back to goal.

Something about a 3 year cycle and rebuild for most managers. Fairplay to him for lasting that long in his jobs.

I agree. The standards in attack are now so low this is being cited as a good performance for some attackers. It's entirely Moments and mistakes and one can see how we constantly came short relying on so many players prone to poor general play. It feels good to actually have a manager that wont choose one

    Poor?

that’s possibly the best half of football we’ve played in a long time. Complete domination… just need to add another goal
Yeah poor, Leicester are just awful if we had been good in this half this game would be finished already.

Many years ago we used to have the best defensive striker playing for Liverpool Mr Dirk Kyut
I know some strikers tend to drop back and play defense from time to time. But, what was Dirk Kuyt’s defensive/offensive stat to call him defensive striker? I'm really confused
