B-but I thought we're suppose to be great vs the big boys? Ole's tactical master class?

    United 1-6 Spurs
    United 0-0 Chelsea
    United 0-1 Arsenal
    United 0-0 City
To be fair, we actually did perform quite well in the big games last season. However, this season we have been poor.

I think the Spurs one was a freak result and maybe more to do with player's fitness. I think we can play them 10 times now and they wouldn't beat us 1-6. The worrying thing is that all 4 of these fixtures were at home. So, now we still have to go away to Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and City.

I think part of it though is that Chelsea, Arsenal and City set up a little defensively, which didn't allow us to counter. But still we MUST do better.

Leicester will be quite compact too so this will be tricky.

I don't care how, but if we get this win it will be MASSIVE. It would also reduce some pressure ahead of the home game vs Wolves

No way Cavani plays again in 2 1/2 days from his last start.

Brendan will know this and plan for it, Mctominay is the only outlier here and if he was feeling his groin 6 days prior to this match I can’t see him starting.

Hence I’m assuming Ole goes with the below.

    ————————DDG——————
    AWB-Lindelof -Maguire -Shaw
    ————-Fred—Pogba—————
    Greenwood— Bruno—Rashford
    ———————Martial——————

7 changes - Bruno will have a stinker considering how tired he will be however hopefully he can provide a match winning contribution.

Alternatively we can look at it as our hardest home fixtures and quite a few of the banana skin away fixtures out of the way.

We’ve got a very favorable run of home fixtures, especially if we approach those games with the same bullishness as we’ve shown of late. And the away games you’ve mentioned we can play on the counter because the onus will be on the home teams to attack.

I rather he missed this one( one half at least) and comes back in for Wolves and Villa. City is a must however.
Then he can take a break for the Watford FA Cup game

You make good points to be fair. I think I'm just thinking more about the business end of the season - where we might prefer playing these big games at home instead of away.

But we are suited to counter - which you fairly make the point

Agree with all of this. Bruno will definitely have a stinker but he must start and can still provide a match winning contribution. McTominay's groin injury means I think he's almost certain to miss out.
Cavani was dead on his feet at the end of the Everton game - I can't see him starting here. Probably the game against Wolves afterwards.

There's nothing like getting your game out the way first nice and early at the weekend with a resounding win then sitting back and watching the others slug it out.

Then again there's nothing worse than losing then watching everybody else pick up points. I'm confident that the first scenario will play out though. 3-1 win to United.

Leicester are like us - much better on the counter. So we should play Fred and Matic - and counter them to pieces with James, Rashford, Martial and Bruno - let Pogba rest for this one

I had one too. Took me about 3 months to heal completely. About a few weeks I was able to play but it hurt again.

But this is professional football so I hope much sooner for McT. Poor lad.
3 months to heal properly - wow! Yeah it’s a very uncomfortable injury and also quite misunderstood!

What’s the definition of a big game nowadays anyway? City, Chelsea and Spurs are alright, but what about Arsenal? Is it a “bigger” game this season than Everton? And is it a bigger game this season or even historically for us than Leeds? Or is it only a big game when we lose? Would Everton also be included in that list (where we didn’t do well in the big games) if we had lost that game?

I will play pogba, and Fred too along with Bruno of course. Get Fred to be a bit more disciplined in the holding role. Leicester's defense can be got at. We need to start like against Leeds. On the front foot.

Somehow I don't think Brendan's team are going to throw caution to the wind and attack all out. They'll look to hit on the break with Vardy the focal point.

I was able to walk, jog normally but if I tried to sprint it hurt again. Then I didn't play for another few weeks. Rinse, repeat and it's 3 months :D

This is why we need to play Pogba and Bruno and Fred instead of Matic.

You cherry pick the big games it seems, Last season it was complaining about the poor results against the lesser teams and beating City, Chelsea etc was no use if you can't beat Bournemouth and Newcastle..

A win and we are in the titel race. We put in great performance in the first half vs a strong Everton team and the performance vs Leeds was also very good. We haven't looked this good in years and hopefully we can build on this momentum.

Any news on McTominay or AWB?

I'd play the below team and not rush McTominay back after the groin pull last week, keep Bailly in to deal with Vardy's speed in behind. Of course we'll probably rush McTominay back or play Matic with Fred, and I'm sure Maglof will be the CB partnership.

I’d be happy with that! Pogbas playing well again and could use his skill to bypass any press and hit them quickly on the break back.

Let’s hope McTerminator recovers quicker than both of us!

I don’t trust Pogba defensive discipline to deal with Leicester’s dynamic midfield

But with McTominay injured I think it's the best option. Or else we have to play a defender in midfield? Can Axel play in midfield?

    Mike Dean then eh?
Any time Mike Dean is the ref I'm terrified as to what he will bring. He has to be the star of the show & unfortunately that means he will make outlandish decisions. I don't feel that he is biased at all & his limelight grabbing calls can go either way. I obviously want a Leicester win but I also want an honest game where the best team on the day wins.

Fair worry, but without McTominay I don’t know who else we can consider.
Is it confirmed that McT is out?

Yeah, Matic isn't mobile enough to solve the issue. I guess We'll have to hope that Pogba can deliver what is asked of him, like he does for France. Fred has come on leaps and bounds and almost at Kante level so can pick up some of the slack.

If Pogba can perform his defensive duties, then having him play is an advantage given his attacking and passing skill set.

Am really looking forward to this game, especially the tactical side; two equally good teams so should be a great watch.

McT missing is a blow, we’ll miss him tomorrow, Leicester’s midfield is very strong.

Massive game, a win would be a fantastic result and a draw wouldn’t be a bad outcome.

Can`t see this being an open game, both teams will have respect for eachothers attacking qualities. Hopefully our form and slightly stronger squad will give us the win in the end.

This forum is known for drastic overestimation of opposition. The reality is, that we are by far a better team than Leicester, and we have won how many away games in a row in England?

You need to get the right level of recognising our quality but also not underestimating a team who are sat 2nd in the league right now. And playing them away.

Usual drill with Leicester. If we can nullify Vardy and not give him acres to expose our centre back trundlers then hopefully our quality does the rest.

    Obviously ours isn’t

Playing anyone away is a very big positive this season. Seriously. It’s almost a guaranteed win
