Got a real feeling this will be a proper Utd performance and we will blow them away. 3-0 Utd I reckon.

I'm fairly certain Rooney will play and so will Zlatan which I think isn't going to work.

    The team I hope for:
De Gea, Valencia, Blind, Bailly, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, Martial, Mkhi, Lingard, Zlatan

The team I think will play:
De Gea, Valencia, Blind, Bailly, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, Martial, Rooney, Lingard, Zlatan

I would be happy for Rashford with Rooney at no.10 but I think he is a better choice off the bench to replace Zlatan or a winger and trouble the Leicester defence with his pace.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Bailly--Blind--Shaw
    Carrick--Herrera
    Mkhitaryan--Rooney--Martial
    Ibrahimovic

Hopefully Smalling will be fit to make the bench. How many subs can you use in the Community shield?

Rashford, Lingard, Darmian, Smalling, Schneiderlin, Mata and Memphis off the bench.

I hope United blow them away starting our march towards the title and Leicesters descent into relegation

Leicester are a good side contrary to what some people believe. I think they will beat us, but we'll see.

Bench of 7, and 6 subs can be used.

Hope to see some intensity in our play. Pre-season obviously didn't have any and neither did the whole year under Van Gaal.

I find it extraordinary that they haven't replaced Simpson. A very poor player.

    1-1
    We win on pens.

Looking at recent history looks a dead cert to be a drab draw, line up as follows:

    DDG
    Valencia-Bailly-Smalling-Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera-Rooney
    Lingard-Ibra-Martial

Why is Valencia still a midfielder on the lineup predicter, he's been a RB for 3 years now

Can someone post a potential liecester line up?
best guess at what we'll do Sunday

    Kasper

    Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs

    Mahrez King Drinkwater Gray

    Okazaki

    Vardy

    Subs
Zieler, Hernandez, Mendy, Albrighton, Musa, Ulloa, Schlupp

Unfortunately that side doesn't look like an improvement on last year's.
It's not. It has actually worsened due to Kante's departure. Hopefully we can snatch mahrez away aswell before the window closes.

Think they only have themselves to blame. They failed to sign a proper class player. Still time if they want to change that.

just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't class players, what you actually mean is we haven't let ourselves be ripped off for an overhyped name.

Afteral I bet this time last year you were all saying "Kante? who the hell is that?"

So.. you've signed a Kante level player? Who is that according to you? Or are you justifying some decent/good signing based on a really good signing last year?

EDIT: Also, I'm sure you can't wait for that overhyped player to cream through your midfield. He may be overhyped for the bigger teams but against little teams like yours he will have a field day I'm sure.

No one knew who Kante was when he signed. You can't use him as a benchmark when he slipped under the radar himself. I think the point that Leicester fan is making is their scouting/recruitment has come good more often than not so he trusts their judgement.

exactly, if Mendy is another Kante then we've pulled a rabbit out of the hat twice in 2 years, if he's half as good he's still better than most in the league.

We spent £16m on a striker who fits us perfectly, look at the fees being talked about for strikers around the league. Why pay £50m just to pay £50m for a player?

That's wishful thinking. The nature of scouting is such is that you can't rely on it all the time. They are comming of a succesful season and should have signed 1-2 players of proven quality and class that would lift the whole team.

They need to take their team to a level that beating other teams are no longer "upsets".

yes you can when your scouting consists of more that "who is the biggest name", we sign players that fit the team rather than players to sell shirts, every player in the squad with the exception of King, Chilwell and Schlupp, who came through the academy, was signed this way

Ordinarily Musa and Zieler would be considered coups by Leicester. They are the Champions but that doesn't automatically propel them to the top end for transfers. Big clubs are hovering over their star players because they offer a bigger attraction and can blow them out of the water regarding money.

They still have to scout diligently and identify talents early to work with. They can't afford to end up with expensive duds who take up space and time. They don't have freedom in the market to buy whoever they desire whatever the price. They are with respect still a mid-range club who are riding on a wave.

the best transfer business we can do is getting Vardy, Chilwell and hopefully Mahrez to all sign new deals and the first 2 already have, or at least not sell Mahrez this summer, there is no one we could sign that is a bigger deal than that

I think they'll beat us. We look a tad behind in match fitness and with their pace up front it's gonna be difficult. Musa looks a great addition.

Anyone know what's up with Smalling?

    Will he be fit?
Jose said he's recovering from an injury he suffered last year. He is anyway banned for our first league game. I'm expecting him to be on the bench against Southampton.
