The good news is that is a completely different pitch.

The bad news is we will probably be winning one nil with 20 mins to go tonight, and the game will get abandoned

Getting delayed til tomorrow would suck as it fecks us over for the Newcastle game. Postpone it til after the Bayern game to make it clear what we'll need from this game (1 goal win, 2 goal win, just a draw) as right now we don't know if we'll be level on points with Galatasaray or Kopenhagen if we get 4 points, or it we need to win both to go through..

I’m here and it’s not stopped heavy raining since the early hours of the morning!

How many injuries can we wrack up in a single night on that pitch?

That's what the U19's played on

Looks like a serious injury waiting to happen. Obviously not the same pitch, but still, same city and same conditions.

If the pitch is atrocious, I wonder if personnel amendments change emphatically.

You want height and bodies and aggression if the pitch is unplayable.

Can't believe Galatasaray would allow this rain. They should grant us all 3 points

You'd think so. A bad pitch is usually a leveller and suits the slower, less technical players the most. McTominay and our centre backs to have a stormer.

Playing on a pitch like that would be stupid. Has to be called off. We're guaranteed to suffer more injuries if this goes ahead.

Feck United are going to have a shopping list of injuries if they have to play on that!

    Call it off!

    What's the weather like tomorrow?

Not raining tomorrow - but playing 2 days before a trip to Newcastle is less then ideal. Doubt the PL would let us move it to Sunday either.

Honestly, I would rather we didn't play and took a fine than play on that shit/cram more games in to accommodate a postponement.
I don’t think it would be a good look to surrender a game at all.

Not only because we still have the chance to qualify but it’d also be unfair to Copenhagen as it’d reduce their chance of qualifying.

I think a team refusing to play a CL game would be unprecedented so hard to say what UEFA would do. Probably a 1-2 year ban from entering their competitions could be expected.

Was thinking, arise Sir Harry Of Maguire, scorer of barnstorming header in torrential conditions.

I'm not as worried about Newcastle on short notice, sometimes it can help, kinda like a siege mentality type of thing.

Didn’t the England MNT have a game postponed to the following day in Europe somewhere due to torrential rain & they were given sleeping pills to help get some shut eye, then turned up & put on a rather lethargic performance?

Or did I completely conjure that up all by myself?

Siege mentality as much as you want. Playing another tough away game 48 hours after a trip to Istanbul is guarantee heavy loss. No chance the players even recover sufficiently to play Newcastle.

feck me didnt realise it was an early KO.

I'll have to make a quick exit from work

Ten Hag will pick a front 3 that gives us the best chance of winning a must-win game: Martial doesn't feature in that. Do you think Pep was worrying about potentially pissing off Kyle Walker or Phil Foden when he didn't start them in the Champions League final?
Martial absolutely features in that. He got a goal and an assist in the last game, and 10 of our 14 open play goals have come with him on the pitch. He should start next to Højlund, not instead of him. Playing 2 strikers together doesn’t mean one is permanently shoved out to the wing.
