Onana, De Ligt and Victor playing well.

Dalot needs to come off and put Maz at right back. Put Amad on RW for Rashford and put someone maybe Casemiro in midfield to push Eriksen into the 10.

Good goal, meh performance. Not terrible by any means, but on balance, second best.

Defence wise we were strong. De Ligt and Ugarte stood out. Onana - that save! Magic.

But as we went forward we have the same old failings. Total inability on retain possession in advanced areas, with all the problems that brings.

As for the Mazraoui experiment - he had a hand in the goal, but other than that, the most you can say is he was no worse than anyone else up front. But I can't see how he justified a start ahead of Amad.

Struggling to see how Zirkzee is going to score goals. We'll literally have to tell him to stand on the goal line and we'll just have to take potshots and hope one hits him on the way in.

It is quite clear that in fact Mazraoui does not know how to play #10.

EtH has to be sending a message to someone on the bench with that decision.
I wonder if Amad and a new deal isn’t going well. Because there is now talk of triggering an extension.

Very poor but moments of real quality see us in the lead. Fantastic from Ugarte and Onana it has to be said.

I suppose it's too much to ask for us to look like a proper team and get a result. We should thank Ten Hag for the scraps we're given.

Not and awful half by our poor standards, but we blew some good chances and relied on sueprhuman blocks/saves by Ugarte and Onana.

Please don't concede straight after HT...

Didn’t think Zirkzee has been THAT bad - though certainly not great. He got the assist for the goal and - as a link-up striker - is playing without any proper #10

Happy to be 1-0 up, well taken goal by Eriksen and good performances from De Ligt, Onana and Ugarte. But we are so inefficient in attacks it makes me want to scream at the tv. Numerous times we break their press and can't make the right pass. Some of it is on Mazraoui playing a position he clearly doesn't know, some of it is on players just making bad/panicked decisions. I'm also a bit wary about Martinez at LB, feels like he is retreating to the middle too many times. Hope we can hold on.

I think I’d bring on Casemiro for Zirkzee and go to a back 3 for the next phase of the game with Dalot and Mazrouai wide. Ugarte, Casemiro and Eriksen should give us a level of control and protection and we have pace on the break.

So pleased with how Onana has turned it around this season. I was one of his biggest doubters but he's proving me wrong.

Ugarte has been decent today. Zirkzee looks very average, doesn't he?!

Not been a great watch for us and it's still a bit disappointing to see us so backs against the wall (though this is NOT an easy place to come).

I watched Zirkzee for about 20 minutes for Netherlands and realised this. Not sure how our coaches and players still haven't figured this out. And if we thought that's the player we were signing then feck me.

Even if he didn't win headers, the fact that we still punt it up to him as if he suddenly will is more frustrating than anything.

They are not bang average. Those players are all very good and they're managed by fecking José. It is also away in Istanbul which is the most difficult atmosphere you can get. And we are not holding on to dear life, but we are in front.
But hey, let's do our utmost not to enjoy a single game of our team.
Christ you must think Prem teams are absolute world beaters if you think a bunch of cast offs are "very good".

That is not the point. I have criticised Zirkzee more than everyone but that behaviour is gutter behaviour, speak to your team mate, it is counterproductive. It’s not as if he Garnacho has not messed up good moves.
Bruno does it and he gets criticised

Context. That's because every single game Bruno does it even when he himself is playing terrible, it gets tiring from him. Garnacho is in the form of his young life, hopefully this is a sign of him developing more of a demanding personality that top players, especially top attackers should have. Now if he does it every game, even in patches where he is playing terrible then eventually it will wear thin. However, at the moment it is like a young pup starting to become dominant in the team, and when we have a Rashford on the opposite side who has very little fight in him it is good to see.

Ten Hag owes Ugarte and Onana a drink or two in the unusual event that we hold on to a win here. Incredible goal saving blocks from both of them.

Really worried about Zirkzee. He’s a mile off it, was behind Weghorst in the pecking order at the Euros.

A big man that is so weak in the duel, limp press, not great finishing, little to no predatory instincts.

His only asset seems to be link play, but the pace of the game always seems to pass him by

More often than not he just runs into the attacker and gives away a foul, his heading and 50/50 tackling are both abysmal.

Well yeah but I was speaking mostly about his performance against Brentford. It's the first time in as long as I can remember where he looked arsed without the ball and made some telling contributions.

He's been shocking off the ball tonight and as bad as I've seen from him. He's just never where he's supposed to be and basically pretending to press.

Now let's see if we've learnt anything from the recent games in Europe.

Hopefully we see Hojlund and Amad on for Zirkzee and Rashford. Both have been ass backwards. They didn't look like professional footballers in the first half with any ability to control or pass the ball.

Amad and Hojlund would be an upgrade at half time or asap.

Urgate looks more like a central defender to me than a central midfielder. He can defend, but he has no creativity.

If only there was some sort of term in football for a midfielder who is primarily there for defensive contribution....

We look so poor in so many areas, we really don't support the man on the ball when trying to play out from the back, instead we do basic positioning that Fenerbahce have done a good job of cutting off and closing down so we've been forced to go long and lost it nearly every time. Defensively we look happy to sit off them which makes sense when you see how disjointed our press looks on the odd occasion we do try and do it, but even sat off them we're too easy to play through and better decision making on their part or barring a world class block and save from us we would be behind.

Hope to see some personnel/tactical changes at half time otherwise the second half will probably look the same and it's going to take a big slice of luck to hang on.

Bellingham did a lot of this and much worse in Dortmund. He literally told his teammate that he can't make a single pass and that he's fecking shit during the game. To Schulz I think it was?

I honestly don't give two fecks if players do it as long as they are playing well & putting in the effort.
