    Give everyone a try, who wants to give it a go. I mean caf did that before this new format. I remember people asking Vida red( i think that was him) to make the threads. I was a lurker back then and Op's were much better than"let the discussion begin". Its your site, you can do anything you want but just a peace of superstitious advice. Why not give it a go?
    Example- Let someone else make em till united drop points. When they do, we shift to someone else. Say 10 people take the responsibility, the one with the longest winning streak irrespective of the opponent gets the honor permanently.
     
    win this and we have pretty much qualified for the next round. We can them rest players.

    My money is on Fellaini to replace Herrera against Swansea. Valencia had surgery yesterday apparently so doubt he'd play either.

    Herrera is going to be banned for the Swansea game, so he will get his rest. We need to win this game, so then we can rest players in the coming EL games.

    I guess you're right, but I was thinking he could use some extra rest to stay fresh for the holiday season, while Schneid gets a chance to prove himself in a non-throwaway game.
     
    If Smalling's still injured and he wanted to rest Blind, would Mourinho play Fosu-Mensah as center-back, Carrick or call Tuanzebe? Almost forgot Jones…

    I feel a defensive counter-attacking 4-3-3 might work at Istambul, but without Pogba (who could play there? My hopes were on Mkhitaryan…) and without quick wing-forwards it becomes just too defensive.

    The OP content is updated by @Invictus so it doesn't stay as "let the discussions begin" for long.

    I don't believe in any of this superstition crap anyway, so I'm not going to change how this works. What you suggest just makes things more complicated with no benefit.

    I used to think our problems were down to mourinho adjusting, zlatan being in poor form and an inability to make a team out of our best 11 players but now I realise I was wrong. The problem is you. I call revolution.

    I think the manager's going to keep picking his strongest side to build up some momentum. Many of the players will get a decent amount of rest over the international break, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two big names on the bench at the weekend due to 4 yellow cards and Arsenal then next. As we're away from home, I think Carrick may play as an extra midfielder:

    We have to take this competition seriously now, because I don't see how we qualify for top four with the way we're playing poorly in the league.
     
    Some of the lads looked tired lately so a bit of change would be grateful for the team, but that would be enough to win / not loose there. Knowing that we've to receive Feyenord and go to the other side, that maybe 6 points more, so this one must not be losed.

    Looking at the top 4 clubs, it's going to be difficult to make up those 7 points. None of them look likely to dip at the moment. Traditionally. Arsenal go through a rough period at some point in the season so they may be our best hope. On the other hand, when did they last fail to qualify for the CL ?

    I wasn't as impressed as some by our performance againt Fener, at least until the penalties came along. Before those penalties, we hadn't done much apart from have lots of possession. Our first clear opportunity was an excellent pass to Rooney, who failed to control the ball. Then came two penalties. After the break they pressed quite hard and we got a third goal on the counterattack.

    I expect a tough game on Thursday so I think we'll have to play our strongest team. Provided we get a point we'll be on course to qualify, but obviously we want to go through top of the group. Thank god Sevilla are unlikely to be in the EL this year !

    If we're worried about Mkhitaryan's form and mental fragility (if there's one, call it low confidence, whatever) then Fenerbahce away would be the last place I'd play him.
