It's going to be like playing on concrete
26.02 If any doubt arises as to the condition of the field of play after the visiting team’s departure from home, the referee decides on the spot whether or not it is fit for play
26.03 If the match cannot commence for whatever reason (e.g. condition of the field of play), it must be played either the next day or on a reserve date or other date set by the UEFA administration. A decision must be taken within two hours of the decision to cancel the match, in consultation with the two clubs and the associations concerned. In case of dispute, the UEFA administration fixes the date and kick-off time of the match. Its decision is final.

No chance it goes ahead on that pitch.
Problem with that rule is that the weather there is not going to get any warmer, it isn't just a bit of a cold snap, that is how their weather is, so how do you decide on a new date? They would actually have to play it in another place.
If the match does get postponed, when will it take place?
At this time of year, the weather is "normal", so even if they delay it for a week or few days, the condition of the pitch will likely remain the same (ie. frozen).
The only way to get around this is to play it in another country.
The other question is, was the last Zorya game played on a frozen pitch? Perhaps it is normal. If so, UEFA will argue that if they can play their league games on a frozen pitch, the EL games can also be played there.
Their winter break starts on 10th December, I wonder why that is and they don't start again until 25th February 2017.Don't they not play in Russia and Ukraine this time of the year?
A point to qualify, that's right. Common sense should have dictated that we played the away game in the Ukraine first, then the game at OT tomorrow, but when did common sense ever prevail?Even if the games is played, it will be a nightmare, rock hard pitch, below zero temps, will turn the game in to a lottery.
The way it looks now , I will settle for coming away without any serous injuries.
We only need a point ? Am I right.
The are starting their two month winter break later this week, but the winter weather will make it impossible to have a decent pitch. How the hell do the Ukrainian league players play on pitches like this throughout the season?
Common sense and UEFA just dont to together.A point to qualify, that's right. Common sense should have dictated that we played the away game in the Ukraine first, then the game at OT tomorrow, but when did common sense ever prevail?
I don't know. A deep frozen pitch that's like rock is much worse than some surface snow (like was the case in the Tromsø - Chelsea game that's always brought up in these situations).Regarding the pitch, Mourinho might remember this one just so ever slightly worse.
Anyhow, before the team went to the pitch, it was covered and being heathen, so it might not be that bad.I don't know. A deep frozen pitch that's like rock is much worse than some surface snow (like was the case in the Tromsø - Chelsea game that's always brought up in these situations).
And plenty of injuries then. It's going to be like playing on concrete
I would rather play on that snow then a frozen pitch.Regarding the pitch, Mourinho might remember this one just so ever slightly worse.
This is good, but has soon as the cover is taken off , the pitch will start to freeze.Anyhow, before the team went to the pitch, it was covered and being heathen, so it might not be that bad.
Yeah, but remember Fellaini will be crunching that ice concrete from the start. This is good, but has soon as the cover is taken off , the pitch will start to freeze.
Just play out a bore draw. I honestly couldn't care less about the performance. Just get back in one piece, and with qualification in the bag.
If the pitch inspection is at 10am local time and the nighttime has been the forecast -8, the pitch is already frozen, I would of thought chances of the game being on are 50/50 at best for the game being on.
Exactly, another 1-1 draw will take us through. We can't play out bore draws. We will concede. Just go out and blast them away then sub off whoever needs a rest ahead of the weekend.
Don't like the sound of this...
Is there a good reason Zorya would even try hard in this match considering they are last in the group with only two points? This could very well end in a boring 0-0 draw.
