Lingard should be taking this game by scruff of the neck but he just pffffff

Once again it’s another display of zero in game management from Ole and his coaching staff.

If one of those lads can’t come up with a moment of individual brilliance we are losing this game when we shouldn’t be.
Missing a sitter and a lucky og is zero game management
    Great assessment. Well done

doesn't it? are we guaranteed top spot? if not we could draw a team coming down from PL. Plus, I expect more from our academy. Your reality enables it to go on being bad

Our academy has been hugely overrated for years - one or perhaps two squad players have made it each year for almost five or six years now. ie, Post SAF.

McT is a, now sadly, very rare exception.....

If Ole was concerned about that he would have brought more first teamers.

We've the game at home against Alkmaar to decide who tops the group.

Gomes need someone near him to play the ball off.
Yeah, it seems like we as a team have become reactionary in regards to movement. When Gomes has the ball, nobody is moving unless Gomes tries going after defenders or something.

It would have been nice to see Gomes and Lingard switching positions...

Of course it isn't ideal and we should be winning but I dunno I don't really care to much about this game. This is a final for them and all we brought was Shaw and Lingard and a bunch of kids.

I will be upset if this type of performance and as you say in game management continues against Villa, but in this instance I find it hard to care.

Yes and you clearly aren't if you think they're just passing the ball around aimlessly. With some luck we would have already equalised.
No I’m watching. After Chong’s miss there was a change and the passing was side to side. When the side to side didn’t work it was over the top which inevitably resulted in a loss of possession.

I didn’t see anyone take on their man, it’s all just passing to the easiest way out.

Over the past 5 minutes however, it’s been more direct and resulted in a good free kick from Gomes and a great chance for Greenwood.

Why we had that period of comatose playing is concerning.

We don't need to win this game.
If we want to finish first in our group we do. Unless you expect us to beat AZ at home, which, with recent form, may be unlikely.

Been an enjoyable game. Loving seeing that the ball is always looking to go forward.

Argument for Chong, Shaw and Lingard being the 3 worst on the pitch.

They’re young maybe and need to learn. This isn’t the u18s at Sunderland

Being way too passive when in complete control and thus allowing the opposition to get back into the game is likely what was meant. The game management has not been good. When in control we needed to be more aggressive and look to kill the game we were far too safe, playing like a training session.

Overall a great experience for the lads, but I would have preferred if they were allowed to play their natural game, which is far from safe. Garner and Levitt in particular looked composed but restricted, saw nothing of their range of passing, Garner especially

Before the match : Aww,the young lads are playing. Well whatever the result I hope they do themselves justice and just take in the atmosphere and experience.

During the match : GET THE F*CK OUTTA OUR CLUB YOU LITTLE LOSERS!
Some posters are strange. Moaning about nothing. This is a good experience for the youngsters.

Similarly, talk of our academy being overrated is so weird. As if the other u21 sides from the other PL clubs haven't lost to League1or2 sides this season.

We weren’t safe. Bad finishing has cost us a routine win
    Good experience for the kids

If we can't beat AZ at home, there's no point who we get in the next round, because we'll most likely get knocked out anyway.

An important lesson that Lingard is still an awful player and most of this crop of youngsters have no hope of making it at United.

Astana are basically a pub team, and Chong and Gomes look like this is their level. Lingard the MVP of the pub team league.

Playing in the centre now like a 6.

Most of every crop of youngsters at every club wont make it....
